Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?

I don't see what some of you salty Martin's are complaining about, I'm having fun.
I can't believe that the end of the quest gated off by the trial is [sp]literally borderlands 2 ending
complete with Drack/Brick right after[/sp]
Also, the more i play, the more it looks like DA:I in space but with good combat and slightly less retarded sidequests instead. Which i don't mind because i liked DA:I more than most, but might be a turn off for many people. Building outposts/expanding the nexus is way more fun in ME:A than the DA:I equivalent though
Zero issues in more or less two hours playing, not even funny jank animations [sp]except when alisson appeared in the outpost, but her bad animations ain't funny like the rest[/sp]
I like this game.

Yeah I must have won the Andromeda lottery and not gotten one of the buggy copies of the game, just played the trial since it doesn't come out here until midnight, but literally the only problem I've had is one characters eyes being super wide open during a conversation with them and one time I started floating up by about a meter while I was shooting. The new gameplay is great, gives you lots of options, and soft cover is always a nice feature, squad AI is pretty decent, enough that none of them have managed to die yet because they actually use the cover properly, and the nomad is great, hasn't gotten stuck on a single thing yet.
I've found an offer to by Andromeda for 40 bucks.
I'm very tempted, but I don't really know
I've been really liking this so far, apart from some odd writing at some points I haven't really had any issue with the story either. Just feels like a Bioware game to me.
Edit: The skills/profile system reminds me a lot of Kingdoms of Amalur.
Makes you wonder a few things really.
If this is legit, what the flying fuck.
If this isn't legit, the models being altered aswell as the animations, but the quality being dropped to lowest settings, then they can get out.
I wonder if at some point the game went from Unreal Engine to Frostbite during development and they only salvaged some assets, and mostly rebuilt shit quickly, like with the differences to the Krogan's Armour and what not, because if this game was built up on the Frostbite engine there's no excuse to have stuff look bad since that engine just doesn't seem to be capable of looking anything less than good.
It's not legit.
The guy who captured the "current" footage has a lot of the graphics turned down to make the game look bad.
Running everything on Ultra here, and it does not look that way.
Got home from work just before 1:30 and got a few rounds of MP in. First round was an awful rubber banding mess, which of course I wasted an XP booster I got during the trial on. The next 3 games were just fine though.
It's two fucking days. Two. Two days. It's not like they've cancelled everyone's pre-orders at the last minute it's just a 48 hour delay.
if people are preordering the game, they want to play it when the game comes out, not 2 days after

Are you able to show a picture on the difference?
Oh.
There are some timed quests and they don't warn you about it beforehand. be careful.
Found out the worst way [sp]when i've let 90% of a crew die because i was scanning the site where i found their location for things[/sp]
Oh god i don't want to talk to Suvi anymore, she sounds like a skellige reject
and her dialogue is awful, all of it. [sp]one of her romance starting lines is literally "i like you" after something unrelated. Let me talk to Kallo instead goddamnit, he's the one who's interesting, he's the one i want to romance, but all he have is brief lines with no chance of dialogue so far. Goddamnit Suvi you suck so much that Kallo is embarassed of speaking more when you're around.[/sp]
I'm reasonably confident the people saying "It's only two days, stop bitching" are people that already have the game because they didn't buy from fucking GMG.
Two days ain't a big deal, but it's shady and disgusting that they essentially swindled people into preordering from them, saying GET IT ON THE 21ST, only to change that on release day.
I didn't take a day off, but I'm glad I didn't. I'm still pretty tilted. Considering buying it on Origin while my refund is pending with GMG, but I don't want to end up with 2 copies.

Nope I'm getting it at 11pm tomorrow.
So, what does everyone think of the design of the Tempest? I have to admit, I wasn't the biggest fan at first, but I've warmed up to it. Sure, nothing can replace the SR2, but the Tempest has a nice look, too.

i like it better than the normandy. easier to move around and find people (though it took something to finally find where peebee was holed up and where to change the loadouts). the pathfinder's cabin is ballin' too. and i adore the new area where the pilot and (ugh) suvi are, all the beautiful backdrops
the fact that you can straight up throw yourself from the railing to save time while moving up/down the ship is also great
The tempest is awesome. A really good successor to the Normandy.
Much like how the SR1 felt like a military vessel, the Tempest feels like an exploratory vessel. I always felt the SR2 felt too much like a luxury yacht.
Wew lads I didn't say the game was garbage based on the 2 hours of play I have in it, I said it was a clusterfuck.
It feels like they tried to shove too many gameplay mechanics in a blender. It's definitely fun, just makes me worry about the late game with all the stuff you've gotta micromanage.

i don't think it will be an issue because most of it its optional
the "MMO DA:I style" quests are tasks, which you can safely ignore for as long as you want. it's just extra exp and rewards for the people who like them. main quest content has been plentiful so far that i didn't felt like chasing around rocks to bash or stuff to scan just for a handful of extra xp.
you don't need to craft, really, you can get by with the weapons you buy from merchant or the OP preorder stuff. obviously crafted stuff is better, but not required. and if you want to craft, you don't need to do the tedious (for some, i enjoy riding around sending probes tbqh) mining either - you can get so many resources by scrapping items / strike team rewards or just outright buying resources you need
my biggest issues with the game so far is not what they've added, it's what they removed: mainly the lack of agency in dialogue, a better writing and the ability to customize and command your companions in any sense other than "go there"
but i'm 15ish hours in and having a blast. no performance issues either and i'm playing on xbox which many people said it was "unplayable" around the internet. i'm a simple man with simple tastes it seems.
Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuck
[del]I just spent a whole lot of time customizing my Ryder and her twin and they both done did look great, so I start the game feeling good and the second DadRyder starts to speak and Earth is on the screen the thing gets stuck and now I have to start all over again.[/del]
Nevermind there's an autosave whew
Speaking of pre-order bonuses, where are they located? Haven't seen anything about them anywhere ingame.
Edit: nevermind I'm retarded and the people at gamestop just didn't highlight the code on the receipt like they normally do
A nice touch I just noticed in Andromeda. People are using the datapad model from Mass Effect 2 instead of the completely holographic from 3.

SR2 was supposed to feel less like a military vessel, that was a plot point :v:
Tempest's design looks really slick and cool but I don't feel like it fits with other Mass Effect starship design conventions.
Haven't played Andromeda yet but what I've seen has my head spinning. I think I'm going to wait for the price to come down at least.
The Normandy didn't fit with Mass Effect design conventions, it was an experiment in combining Human and Turian designs. The Tempest is probably much closer to the general design of Human ships, with the captain among the flight crew rather than behind and above everyone.
[editline]21st March 2017[/editline]
The issue is we don't see the interiors of any other ships that aren't freighters or Quarian ships, so we have a skewed view of things.
ruh-roh
[sp]i told scott the truth about stuff instead of sugarcoating it and he kinda had a seizure (in his coma?)[/sp]
this is going to bite me in the ass isnt it

We see lots of human vessels though. They're Turian influenced to begin with but they have some specific features.

Normandy had a sleeker hull but you could see the human in it, for example in the engines. Tempest is super streamlined, moreso than even the Normandy, and features a totally alien engine design not shared with any other human vessel. Even comparatively tiny civilian human ships reflect the slab aesthetic:

I like the ship, I just feel like it's a departure from the established human look.
Is anyone else having their games get stuck on loading screens? I go to Voeld and it happens so often
Is anyone else having their games get stuck on loading screens? I go to Voeld and it happens so often
Stopped happening for me after I've downloaded the latest drivers and restarting my computer, game also runs a lot better.
I'm getting huge performance/FPS drops since yesterday when I updated the game, and Nvidia drivers. Was running between 40-60 FPS on mostly High, now I get shit performance across the board, even on low. Run just fine in trial :/
Cool, guess I made the right decision buying this on Xbox.
