Every time i install mass effect 2 retail update it to 1.02 origin then updates it and then when it ry and launch it it says missing awc.dll

I've never had that issue, then again I own ME2 via Steam. I'd try googling and see what it turns up.

So, I finished Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 last month. I really want to get ME3, but at the same time, I really don't want to put up with EA's shitty Origin platform, so I have a couple of questions.

1. If I buy an actual disc for the game off of Amazon or eBay or some other site, will it force me to install Origin to run it, or can I just pop it into my optical drive and play the standalone game?

2. If I don't need Origin to run the physical copy of the game, do I need to purchase a specific disc/get some kind of code to get access to the Extended Cut?

You're required to use Origin no matter what version you buy, and I don't see why you would refuse to use it because it's no worse than Steam.

I was thinking about buying the DLCs after been playing through the trilogy for the 4th time
Any recommendation of which ones or should I just buy 'em all?

Better to play all of them, but if you gonna choose - better start with Citadel DLC

Citadel > Leviathan > Omega.

And I'd say skip Omega.

Omega was okay, but I'll admit when I played it I was a combination of desperate for something new to do and a pretty blind fanboy. The new enemies were pretty cool, I wish they'd done more with them. Even adding them to multiplayer would've been awesome.

Okay so I just finished the first and second games for the first time and I have a question about the ending of ME2: I go through the omega 4 relay and the cutscene begins where shit goes bad and the normandy crashes. During the cutscene Legion is down near the mass effect core for some reason and he gets blown the fuck up and dies. Why, what happened? How was I supposed to prevent that? I've tried googling but have found no mention of this anywhere.

There are 3? ship upgrades you can buy in the research area, each one [sp]prevents a squad member from dying while the ship is flying in.[/sp]

Nope, It's the shield, armor and weapon upgrades you get from garrus, tali and jacob.

Honestly? I wouldn't. If it's your first playthrough, roll with whatever happens. If you want to try replaying the suicide mission with no casualties, Legion and Tali are the two who offer the shield (I think).

Also, I'm trying to a complete trilogy playthrough (all story DLC, I'd previously been missing Omega and Pinnacle Station) before GTA V comes out. I'm currently in ME2, in the Collector Ship mission.

Hudson had a hand in the ending so I'd take his opinion with a bucket of salt. I want to be hopeful about it, but I need more than the word of Casey Hudson to convince me it isn't being run into the ground even harder.
