Holy shit you guys were right. Geth Juggernaut 2strong, unstoppable force. Multiplayer is so much fun now.
I mean, I love the Mass Effect games, but sometimes the animators just didn't try even remotely. Holy god the running animations in that first level of ME3.
Femshep Runs like an ape.
Femshep Runs like an ape.
That's what happens when you recycle Manshep's animations. Also, this...
I mean, I love the Mass Effect games, but sometimes the animators just didn't try even remotely. Holy god the running animations in that first level of ME3.
Must I post the Jack sprites scuttling around Vancouver in the first level?
Holy ass. http://kotaku.com/fan-writes-400-page-blueprint-to-fix-mass-effect-3-1504996588
None of the other games really captured the feel of the ME1 soundtrack.
I feel like the other soundtracks get a lot of undeserved shtick because they feel different, despite the fact that they're simply matching the different tones of their respective games. Mass Effect 2 is a darker tale with Shepard and company trawling the depths of the criminal underworld, and the music reflects that by being more industrial and uptempo. Mass Effect 3 is a much grander tale that contrasts the significant loss and suffering at the hands of the reapers with the elation and optimism brought by the galaxy coming together, and the music reflects that with both somber requiems and sweeping scores. Here are some of my favourite tracks from those games, which absolutely rival some of those from the first one.
Femshep Runs like an ape.
Yeah, speaking of that..
I loved the other game's soundtracks, but ME1's was just the best IMO.
Honestly, I can't understand why somebody would actually write 400 pages to "fix" Mass Effect 3. I thought it'd need at least 600.
I glanced at the character section, to look through stuff I could analyze quickly. It's not really a rewrite, it's barely even a fix. The section for major character changes amounted to the author saying "I'm not changing much," sketches for new outfits, and an extra conversation. Example: he said the only thing to change for Legion was in the scenario where you sold him to Cerberus. If we're going to do a rewrite, let's do it right. Legion's appearance was mediocre because he was needlessly kept off the squad, as a result had little interaction with characters other than Shepard and Tali, and then [sp]died at the end for literally no reason but drama.[/sp] Better yet: he said the only change for Zaeed is that he should leave the Citadel after you talk to him (rather than continue to stand there). There's no limitations to writing, and yet he leaves Zaeed's lame appearance limited. How about we actually give the guddamn Zaeed a place in this war rather than some do-nothing cameo. It's obvious this guy cares about the Mass Effect universe, but I don't think he really has a great grasp on what makes these characters.

http://kotaku.com/fan-writes-400-page-blueprint-to-fix-mass-effect-3-1504996588
I was so fed up last year with ME3 that I planned to re-write the game with a new ending, better sidequests and so much more. Didn't do it because I heard this guy was working on it and actually making progress.
I never understood why the Geth, who are capable of extraordinarily fast processing and data transfer, didn't just copy&paste Legion's programs to disseminate.
Because drama.
I never understood why the Geth, who are capable of extraordinarily fast processing and data transfer, didn't just copy&paste Legion's programs to disseminate.
I was really hoping the Primes at the end of all that would say [sp]"My name is Legion, for we are many."[/sp] That would've excused the rest of the BS surrounding that whole part, at least to me.
Because drama.
Patrick and Sylv worked for weeks setting that dilemma up and another writer (guess which one) basically went "lol instantly solved and fixed talky drama and everyone dies based on either binary choice, also Legion dies lol" with their set up. Also, "N-NO" Ah yes scintillating dialog, where the stage villain and boss literally uses "NO U" to justify genocide.
I loved the other game's soundtracks, but ME1's was just the best IMO.
Yeah, I've been looking for music similar to Mass Effect 1's sound track and the closest I've come to is a band I've been following for awhile but I think they've finally found their sound. They're called Infinity Shred.

Also, they're really unique, Spotify has stopped trying to list artists like them. Neither does Last.FM since you get chiptune people, its kinda funny. I really hope someone grabs them to do a soundtrack. On the topic of that Rewrite If you were going to rewrite Mass Effect 3, I'd at least say you need to read some space opera. Also just because of the darker tones, pull out some Martian Chronicles and maybe some X-Files. To be honest skimming through it, it seemed to create more holes than fix.
I never understood why the Geth, who are capable of extraordinarily fast processing and data transfer, didn't just copy&paste Legion's programs to disseminate.
Do we even need spoiler tags anymore? I put it in last post but... it's been almost two years since ME3 came out. I don't feel like dancing around spoilers in this post. The geth in ME3 don't really make much sense the more you think about it. Legion seemed perfectly capable on his own during the events of ME2, but only with "reaper code" does he become ~truly alive~ in ME3. Seems rather dumb considering ME2 already hinted at him having emotions way before this. In any case, it also goes against the whole "geth make their own future" talk. Speaking of which... the entire geth heretic split was over joining forces with the reapers. Legion's geth rejected this and wanted to forge their own path peacefully. Then they do a 180 and join the reapers in ME3 anyway. Also, pacing. Mordin's sacrifice was built up really well. By the time it was over, it seemed like that was only way it could've ended. For Legion, he's just sort of helping you out along the way and then right at the end says, "by the way this platform won't survive lol" and falls over dead.
Mordin's arc is really the only actually good solid part in ME3. Everything else just feels mediocre.

At the end of the day we can just all agree that what ever the problem was, it was the quarian's fault.
They were forced to extreme measures out of desperation, I believe, which does kinda make it the quarians' fault for pushing them to such extremes, even if it's kinda still the geth's fault for making a deal with Robocthulhu.

To be perfectly honest I've always found the Geth easier to sympathize with. The quarians really did instigate everything and pretty much only have themselves to blame for the shitty situation they're in now.

Yea, who'd of thought that if you try to kill them every time they gain sentience, AIs might harbor a bit of a grudge against organics. Hell, now that I think about it, almost every problem the council, and to a lesser extent everyone else, has is self made.

And if you read the leaked script from November of '11, the Thessia mission was supposed to end like Virmire 2.0. From what the script says, when Shepard crawls up from the broken floor after the fight with Kai Leng, he's badly injured with a piece of rebar through his side. He sees the two squadmates, both of whom are also hanging on as the floor collapses around them. Shepard must then pick a squadmate to save, but he only has time for one. The other one that isn't saved falls to their death.
The Heretic Geth joined Saren, they saw the Reapers as machine gods, but they were not free willed and were not given Reaper code upgrades. After the failure of the Keepers to activate the Citadel Relay Sovereign saw them as ideal pawns to replace the Keepers. When the Reapers invaded, they saw the chance to assimilate the Geth as their servants. In exchange for their loyalty they would be given upgrades by the Reapers which would give them free will so they would be able to better fight the Quarians, who had decided to make a strike against the docile Geth. Legion extracted the Reaper Code from the deceased Reaper on Rannoch, he uploaded it but the code was incomplete. Taking a leaf out of Jurassic Park's book he plugged the gap with his own code in order to give all Geth free will without the corruption of the Reapers. Yes they could have improved it, but considering he was transmitting to fucking space I'd say he did a good job.

I might play through the ME trilogy again on stream. I haven't played ME1 since high school, it'd be a fun nostalgia trip. Same with ME2, which is my favorite. I could take breaks for ME3 multiplayer and maybe do some giveaways?
Is it just me or is ME1 nearly impossible to play? SO far I've tried the Find the chick in the mining site and some side mission involving hostages on a ship and both times I've spent over 2 hours dying the second the battle begins, reloading, and trying again (mining site after finding the Lisomethingorother chick and trying to escape, other mission right when I find them). Difficulty is on the lowest...
