Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?

Yeah I could have done with a tragic end if it seemed like it had more effort into it. Oh well, all the more reason to make up happy head cannon. Yenno, so I can sleep at night.
Well there's always hope for the next game.
I mean, they can't threaten to blow up the galaxy twice. So we most likely won't something on the unmitigated anus level of ending as Spes Kidilist
I don't know how I feel about this...
This hurts you.
I'm really skeptical that they'll ever be able to capture what made the original characters great. Mass Effect 2 made me kinda uneasy at first because Miranda and Jacob were honestly stale characters-- I'm slowly starting to doubt Bioware's ability to ever really reach that potential again.
So, I started playing ME and noticed that in the intro to New Eden, the Sovereign's first appearance seems to be a reference to NiN's Year Zero cover. Surprisingly, it seems no one else noticed/agree with that.
Show a video that shows this?
You mean this?

You're saying a dark hand over a landscape looks like a Reaper over a landscape? Definitely a coincidence.
Aren't we supposed to get some new info about the new Mass Effect during SDCC happening now? On a panel in like 4 hours?

Well, few minutes or so now and still nothing...
There's a twitter account with some coverage though.

The Mako is back!
Sweet, looks more like a utility vehicle than a Pencil case IFV.
not that I have anything against the Ol' Faithful Fridgemobile.
[sp] u commie xenos lovin' bullet hatin' space men need real tanks goddamnit, TERRA STRONK [/sp]
Now that looks like a vehicle that can climb mountains.
Fascinating. Hopefully controls will be way better than ME1's Mako, that was pretty shitty back then. So we didn't get to see anything special, but that's still something, can't wait till someone posts a video from the whole panel on YouTube. If you see one please share it with us here.
Are they just calling it Mass Effect? Could you imagine if they decided to make it a fucking reboot.
"Mass Effect 3's ending was so bad they had to redo the entire series" I'd say.
EA and BioWare didn’t have much to say about the future of its Mass Effect franchise back at E3 2014, but the developers were feeling a bit different at San Diego Comic-Con. At a very packed panel on the series, the team revealed a ton of interesting tidbits. Put bluntly: You won’t play as Shepard, you'll be driving the Mako again, and multiplayer will be there as well. Also, you can stop saying Mass Effect 4, because that isn’t the title of the currently unnamed game.
According to reports, the BioWare reps made it clear that this is a brand new story separate from Shepard, though they did hint that the game was set around when Shepard was doing his/her thing. After a quick tease of the new N7 armor the mysterious new protagonist would wear, along with confirmation that you’ll be able to choose the character’s gender once again, it was time for the Mako to make its return. The once-hated ground transport has returned, and the devs are acknowledging that the old version wasn’t all it could be. In a brief bit of gameplay, the Mako was seen without a cannon, so that’s already a step in the right direction.
Other tidbits discussed include that the unknown protagonist will be an N7 operative, that some familiar faces may return, as will multiplayer, and that the devs favor cooperative multiplayer to competitive, but they weren’t committing to one or the other right now. As for all that, we only know that the game is all too far away. But while you wait check out these shots from the panel we found off Twitter and stay tuned for more updates.
So being only human is confirmed? Damn, I was really looking forward to playing as one of the other species.
Oh my gooooooooood Multiplayer is back.
so it's set at the same time as mass effect 1-3?
eck, alright
I got into Mass Effect recently and bought the trilogy.
Shame it doesn't come with all the DLCs.
[sp]I beat the final part of Mass Effect 1 to Bad Motherfucker by Biting Elbows and convinced Saren to an hero. It was fucking awesome.[/sp]

It's all down hill from there.

Well we are N7 (unless the armor was scavenged of some poor fool), so yeah.
It's all down hill from there.
That only happens after Mass Effect 2.
I was hoping we could play as Garrus for once.
That would be an awesome game.
I really hope it's in an alternate universe or something because otherwise it can't really bring anything new to the table since we all know how it's gonna end anyway

It has the chance to be much much better because the "YOU HAVE TO SAVE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE AND ALL THE OTHER PLACES, TOO!" angle is already taken by Shepard.
The thing about the multiplayer is that if it isn't taking place during the Reaper war then what faction are you fighting?
The thing about the multiplayer is that if it isn't taking place during the Reaper war then what faction are you fighting?
Sounds obvious but I'd guess either just a throw-away (like cerberus or reapers just for sake of MP) or the actual faction you will be fighting, which god knows who that will be. Might still be reapers or something for MP too, if the game has like little pockets of them, you know like ME1.
It depends really on the game's plot/direction and the multiplayer's direction.

any plot will be insignificant in comparison
What if they do some bullshit and make it so you're playing as someone fighting the reapers while shepards actually going batshit insane like some terrible fanfiction.

If they are going to deploy a "Shepard was really indoctrinated towards the end" (like in the famous "Indoctrinaction theory") and the new character is really the one to save the universe at the end, showing off what REALLY happened in the Mass Effect 3 ending, I'm going to lose my shit
