• Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?

Kaiden's a really dead on guy. Ashley just whines about everything and anything. really it just boils down to "do I want a normal guy or a big racist whinge"
[sp]Granted she survived Virmire, of course[/sp] In Mass Effect 3, her "how can I trust you, Cerberus Cerberus" antics are brought up far more often than they should and don't add anything worthwhile to the plot, nor on the emotional or narrative side
kaidan does the same shit tho?
kaidan does the same shit tho?
I tend to stand Kaidan a bit more because he has a more interesting backstory and a lot of players wrongly accuse him of being a carbon copy of Carth Onansi
I tend to stand Kaidan a bit more because he has a more interesting backstory and a lot of players wrongly accuse him of being a carbon copy of Carth Onansi
he's just a carbon copy of ashley at least in me3
he's just a carbon copy of ashley at least in me3
Indeed. The only time they get different scenes is during the Citadel DLC
Not really. Ashley has a scene where she's lying drunk on her floor after hanging out with Vega and it's strongly implied that they become romantically attached.
I seemed to remember Kaidan had a cutscene on Citadel shore leave (not in Citadel) that Ashley didn't have, but I might be confusing things. Wait, of course he had, Ashley had the things with her sister at the memorial, never mind then.
I liked Ashley originally, but they ruined her in 2 & 3. She could have had more depth with the whole family thing and her distrust of aliens, etc etc. Those were aspects that you as the player could affect through your relationship which was a cool idea. But she was sidelined in 2 and forced to cut you off. And 3, they prettied her up so much but whoever did her modeling missed something from the first game since I swear, I cannot look at her face without seeing a man. She always had a strong jaw structure, but she just looks like an ape of some kind in 3. I can't unsee it.
Not to mention her default outfit is just wrong for combat. At least her alternate combat armor looked pretty good. [editline]29th July 2014[/editline] And her hair covering half of her face has never looked appealing to me, not to mention that it's also totally wrong in a combat situation.
I saved her in my first playthrough of 1 because all Kaidan ever did was whine to me about his headaches, though that might just be because I didn't talk to him much. Needless to say, [sp]she served as the warmup for Udina[/sp] in 3. That was kinda cemented when she said she was "no fan of aliens" in front of Grunt and Mordin in 2.
aw man Mass Effect 2 just fixes literally every problem I had with 1, this is great
So, I feel ashamed to ask... Anyone here actually into good ME fanfics? Because this one, For Tomorrow We Die, is really good. Started well before the release of ME3, and the author predicted quite a few things right. It's mainly about Shepard helping with peace negotiations between the Quarian and the Geth as the Reaper invasion is imminent, while the Council doesn't help as usual, the Alliance faces a massive scandal about connections with Cerberus, and the Illusive Man himself pulls strings all around Shepard while his objectives remain unclear. There's also a lot of crew dialogue, a few original characters, and get this: no romance. Anyway, if you're a big fan of Tali and/or Legion, I strongly recommend reading it. The conversations with the crew are sometimes really funny as well, and all characters feel genuine. Of course, it's entirely lore-friendly, as far as I've noticed anyway. I'd be really curious if any other people here are fanfiction readers, I could share a few other gems.
aw man Mass Effect 2 just fixes literally every problem I had with 1, this is great
I still regard Mass Effect 2 as the greatest jump up in quality for a videogame sequel, with Arkham City coming a close second (I won't get many fans with this, but I still think of Mass Effect the first as one of the worst FPS/RPG I've ever played, with copy-pasted sidequests, classes that in the end play exactly the same unless you got biotic powers and dear lord the planets exploration)

In all my searching I've found a few good ones (I think) as well. Haven't read this one so I'll check it out.
Speaking of fanfics, here's a couple of really good ones, for crossovers at least first, in chronological order https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6965762/3/Eagle-s-Fall https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8118228/1/The-Verge-War https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5851454/1/Renegade Mixes up C&C universe with mass effect, replacing the Alliance with someone actually worth two shits and is surprising well written and entertaining throughout. and another one I quite enjoy: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7436717/1/The-Mission-Stays-the-Same throws an Imperial Stormtrooper and Farseer down for Shepard to stumble across gets way better in the later chapters, quite entertaining to be honest

Wow, I didn't really expect to meet other fanfic readers. Speaking of crossovers, Mass Effect Human Revolution is incredible. Don't mind the generic title, the writing itself is anything but. Written by an artist at Square Enix who actually worked on DXHR, it's basically about Jensen in the Mass Effect universe. But the author actually took quite a few liberties, expanded the lore and universe like you wound't believe, and made the story go in completely new directions. After a while, it barely seem like ME anymore. But it's still the best writing I've ever read in my life. It is complex, intelligent, unpredictable, varied... Think Breaking Bad a la science-fiction. It's absolutely fantastic, and one hell of a read. It's very long though, but it's worth it.
-pagestrech-
Hey, Atleast they can't get on there skin.
Requesting that Legion and Femshep fanfic.
Requesting that Legion and Femshep fanfic.
I'm a skilled writer, I could oblige, for the right price ...
No need, I found it. NSFW
The only fanfic that I've found that's worth a damn is Transcendent Humanity. It's short but good.
Still my favorite Mass Effect 3 related video
What about the F-U ending where Shep just shoots the hologram? xD
What about the F-U ending where Shep just shoots the hologram? xD
You know, I still consider that to be the best ending, on a plot perspective
You know, I still consider that to be the best ending, on a plot perspective
That one and "Destroy" are the most appropriate to the theme of the trilogy, even if the latter has that ridiculous concession that [sp]the Geth and EDI are destroyed.[/sp]
wasn't sure where to post this since there is no bioware general thread, but i got this email thing (i'm sure some of you have as well so i'm probably late as fuck). the video is this
We can rebuild them, we have the technology.
They probably could, honestly, but the whole thing smacked of "Well, Destroy has to have SOME kind of consequence, so fuck it."
