• Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?

I finished reading "Interstitium", fantastic read. It is exactly what I look for in fanfictions: it expands on the games, covers things we didn't know and would like to know, it is perfectly lore-friendly in any possible way and of course, it is very well written. I'll say it again: it is a hundred times more interesting than the official novels and comics, story-wise, and lore-wise. I hope the author finds time to make a sequel. Now I need to find another fan-fiction that'll be just as good, as lore-friendly and as interesting. No fucking romances, I hate that shit.
Maelon in place of Mordin in the event Mordin died in the Suicide Mission. Etcetera, etcetera.
Padok Wiks is an awesome character on his own right, however.
Didn't know the lead writer of Halo 4 is now the lead writer of the new Mass Effect. https://twitter.com/schlerf Sorry if late.
so ME4 is gonna suck then?
Hope lost
if that's the case then we can expect the protheans to come back to life and try to destroy Earth, before being stopped with a single hand grenade
Apparently he didn't have a great knowledge of Halo's lore.
Apparently he didn't have a great knowledge of Halo's lore.
Then he should have read up on it. Chris Avellone didn't know shit about Star Wars before working on on Kotor 2, so he went out and watched all the films and read a bunch of the books to understand what he was working with. Here we have a guy who either doesn't know the lore of what he writes for and doesn't read up on it, or a guy who doesn't give a shit. Not good prospects for ME:TNG.
The writing is honestly the most important thing in a Mass Effect game, I hope it can still turn out good.
At this mark the only good points are Dombo is back on mission and squadmate writing and the Build Team is still in charge of combat and MP.
To be fair, I guess sometimes that isn't an option when you have deadlines and work by the clock, to read up on a series' expansive lore. This also ignores that the team can help him out or have a personal editor, I really don't think things are as clear cut as "HE WON'T KNOW ME'S LORE!" No offense to anyone here but I don't care who is writing the story in the end. If it is good, its good, I will judge when it comes out (and honestly by watching other people buy it first). I have no faith in this man but no distrust either, chips will fall as they may; lets just hope they fall well.
At this point I've been burned and brought back by Mass Effect so hard that it's literally impossible for me to have any hype for the game. I got a little enthusiasm back a while ago when I was reading some of the codex stuff, but the feeling I had from pre-ME1 right up until ME3's launch is one I'll never get back. I can't put faith in the new writer, even if I didn't think his previous work was shit, because Bioware has dashed my faith in them multiple times.
Seriously, is it that hard to go on a Wiki binge when you land a job as a writter for a universe you aren't experienced? Aren't you educated in and paid for doing that kind of thing efficiently?

Oh and I forgot to mention that Casey Hudson has now joined Microsoft: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/05/18/mass-effect-creator-casey-hudson-joins-microsoft
Came across this again, had to post. That's why I never choose Control.
Actually, I didn't mind Halo 4's story all that much, apart from the weird bit with the librarian in the middle that came out of nowhere.
One of the problems with Halo 4, is the you really needed to read the books that came out before it to understand some of the things. Like, where the fuck did Infinity come from.
the other problems with halo are that it exists.
Actually, I didn't mind Halo 4's story all that much, apart from the weird bit with the librarian in the middle that came out of nowhere.
It doesn't really follow established precedents and blatant YOU ARE THE CHOSEN AND YOUR WAIFU AM TO DIE was not anything you want to see in a AAA title from any writer.
It doesn't really follow established precedents and blatant YOU ARE THE CHOSEN AND YOUR WAIFU AM TO DIE was not anything you want to see in a AAA title from any writer.
The worst thing was all Halo 4's writers needed to do was play the most recent game to understand how the universe works. Like in Reach you and your entire team [sp]die nameless soldiers and lose Reach to the Covenant[/sp]. Thematically, a world where that can happen being the same world in which a space Jesus exists just doesn't work and it doesn't take a highly skilled writer to see that.
EA conference goes live in half an hour in many different places. Hopefully the new game will be there in some significant capacity. [editline]15th June 2015[/editline] Blink and you missed it. Mass Effect: Andromeda. New galaxy. Holiday 2016. Looks like the leaks are turning out to be more and more true?
"Holiday 2016" Do they mean during the summer holiday? I freaking hate it when they announce stuff and doesn't specify which holiday. :suicide:
"Holiday 2016" Do they mean during the summer holiday? I freaking hate it when they announce stuff and doesn't specify which holiday. :suicide:
"Holiday" means November. They're getting it out for Christmas.
"Holiday 2016" Do they mean during the summer holiday? I freaking hate it when they announce stuff and doesn't specify which holiday. :suicide:
It almost always means the Christmas season. So roughly October - December.
Calling it now, 22nd of November release if it's a Tuesday and 25th of November if it's a Friday release.
So, a year and a half from now... That's how one grows old, by waiting.
If ME2 and 3 are anything to go by it's getting delayed into early 2017.
