Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?
Asari don't even have leaders. Their only actual representative is the councilwoman.
Also I can't find this gang of four anywhere except a fanfic and this thread. You capitalized it like "Gang of Four" so I thought it was an actual thing

Asari elect leaders e-democratically and Aethyta runs the huntresses; the AYs convalesced on Lesuss were placed there on the orders of an executive council, so there goes your theory on leadership.
The gang of five run Ilium which runs the entire galaxy's gray/speculation market and also incidentally is the terminal port for goods from the Terminus and black market, of which we know from the Patriarch and two Omega fetch quests, and Omega DLC Aria pretty much runs fist over ass. Omega is also the largest eezo processor and refinery in Terminus or even the general area, and the mining Ops we see in Omega is larger than every refining location shown in 1 and 2 combined.
Basically the sections of the galaxy with un and semi regulated control are pretty much totally under asari supervision, we also know the from the diplomatic bullshit in the first third of three that asari are literally able to directly advise the other client races as the deciding voice logistically.
We know from LoTSB that asari also control gigantic chunks of the entertainment and leisure industries which are pretty much universal.
The asari system missions in three also make note that the asari facilities are far more advanced than anyone else's to an extent not even realized. The crowning feather in that is of course the argument with Liara and Javik where we learn not only that the asari are ahead, but they're ahead by a generation and have been since day one.
Since both gray and black trade move directly into citadel space via Aria, pretty safe to say she's rather high up on the food chain, and lo and behold, the "mother panther" is pretty much her bitch, and Citadel protocols do not apply to her.
IIRC 3 revealed that the Asari have been reverse engineering prothean tech a lot or something.
I haven't beaten 3 since the extended cut DLC so it is a bit fuzzy

Oh right isn't that statue in the museum a beacon?

Sounds more like something that you extrapolated than something actually considered canon by Bioware.

Nothing really that new but still a little tidbit.
It's good to see a closer look at them. I'm not sure I'm fond of them yet, but I really want to see them in motion from all angles.
My main problem with the Kett is that they don't have any shoulders. Where the fuck are your arm joints you rock-xeno son of a bitch?
Also their guns are organic and look dumb, just like the Collectors.
Yeah when he was talking about the whole issue of not putting on clothes I just kept thinking you made the collectors.
Theres probably going to be a fuckable kett so they want to put some clothes on them to keep the element of surprise
Yeah when he was talking about the whole issue of not putting on clothes I just kept thinking you made the collectors.
Actually it made sense for the Collectors not to have any clothes. Mordin states they have "no art, no culture". Collectors are tools, and they don't have any individuality. Clothes don't make sense.
That's how it makes sense that the Kett have clothes, they're just an evil alien species. But they work mentally more or less like any other species.

Funfact: the Collector bodies are just rescaled naked krogans with different heads.
So I'm about to finish my ME2 replay, only got shadow broker and arrival left. In me2 I've always been rocking tungsten ammo but what which ammo power should I use in 3? Playing as infiltrator and will be maining the black widow. Bonus powers are acceptable too. Singleplayer obviously.
Also got a me3 modding question: I remember that changing the power loadout of a class was really annoying to do in 2 so I never bothered, but is it any easier in 3? I'd love to mix some biotics with the normal slowmo headshot action especially since biotic detonations are so satisfying in 3.
I seem to remember it being easier in ME3, you just head to the med bay and there will be a station to swap out powers. Having both armor piercing ammo and disruptor ammo will probably serve you the best.
I don't mean the bonus powers thing as I reserve that for other stuff, I meant swapping class default powers

Okay, thanks. I just wanted to replace cryo ammo or sabotage with warp & singularity for those delicious biotic detonations. fuck the balance.
also surprising to see that ME3 has such a mod scene, playing with EGM this time around and it's actually pretty decent
also surprising to see that ME3 has such a mod scene, playing with EGM this time around and it's actually pretty decent
Decent? EGM is easily the greatest ME mod ever. I can only wish ME4 will take inspiration from it.
well I haven't gotten far enough to make any final judgements yet
[editline]20th November 2016[/editline]
god, trying to find anything related to mass effect modding has been such a pain since the bioware forums were shut down
thank god for archive.org
I never got into modding Mass Effect, what is this "EGM"? Other than what happens if you give Garrus a Moog synthesizer?
Real talk now, if you played ME3 without spamming concussive shot with ammo powers, you didn't actually play the game.
You kinda didn't play it then either because inc ammo with 6A makes the game a literal joke, wherein an Atlas takes two combos to take down after shields which is around three seconds in real time.
Basically use the PPR, Adas or Typhoon and you have at least 125% damage against every type of protection or the Punisher for 200% cooldowns and just waltz through everything quick as you like.
I never got into modding Mass Effect, what is this "EGM"? It makes the game feel like an actual 3rd part of a trilogy.

It also adds a ton of customization for the Normandy, and even special missions where your input will have a direct impact on the outcome of the war like prioritizing evacuation procedures on Thessia.
And as a whole, it just makes the war that much believable, immersive and threatening as the galaxy war effort will be updated on a regular basis with growing casualties. It's just awesome.
Also all the character mails and dialogues are very well written and in character.

... The fuck?!
Ok, if someone find me a detailed save editor to import everything from the previous two Mass Effects into Mass Effect 3, I'm game
I scored ME3 for free on Origin when Sim City turned out to be a shitstorm, but never got around to playing it, mainly because I wanted to start from ME1, everyone told me it was one of those games I should have played from the start. Too late to start playing ME3? Is it even worth downloading? I've come to realise I'll never be playing ME1 or 2, and Androm. looks really neat and I'd like to have some backstory at least.

ME3 is a really fun shooter on its own right. The two previous games are saved by they story, as ME1 is just boring to play, and ME2 is just ME3 with way less weapons, if you don't by DLCs.

I would highly, HIGHLY recommend the first two games, but if you can't play them you should at least watch a cut down youtube video that covers the main story stuff. Like these.
Be warned, no matter what if you go into ME3 without a save file they give you some of the shittiest decisions from the previous games to work with. They basically killed off any important characters who you would know, because new players won't know them. The game also does a terrible job of explaining things for new players, despite their "It's the best point to jump in" bullshit from before launch.
Definitely worth playing, no matter how much shit I've talked about it over the years and regardless of if you've played the first two, but you're much better off playing them all. If you play the first two games on easy you can actually get through them quite quickly too.

"Saved by their story", it's a fucking RPG. If anything I'd say ME3 is saved by it's gunplay.

And ME1 is one very boring RPG. I can't see how it would have succeeded without an enticing story. It's so... basic. All of the minor levels are copypasted, all the guns feel the same, some just shoot rapidly. The enemies, were a thing, I only remember the ones that used attacks that passed shields, like Rachni, or the armatures that had 1HKO attacks. NPC's mainly just stood around, and the areas like citadel could have been made smaller, without affecting, anything, expect the time taken from walking from A to B.
Is there a mod or something that makes Mass Effect 1 not awful to play, because having played mass effect 2 and 3 beforehand means its not the most fun experience.

Play on easy. I don't think there are any mods which change the basic feel or controls of the game.

I usually make myself reach the highest level as soon as I become Spectre, through console. So I don't have to deal with that atrocious loot and equipment system. I just pick things here and there during the first hour or so and I don't have to deal with fucking loot for the rest of the game.
I also give myself and my squad the armors I want because it's so frustrating looking for a certain armor that you might never see in the game if RNG fucks you over.
