Soft-reboot looks hard sci-fi similar to the transition of art styles between Bungie's and 343i's Halo.
I'm not quite sure I'm understanding you. Are you saying that Andromeda looks hard sci-fi (and that Halo 4 is hard sci-fi)? If so I would heartily disagree. If it's the opposite I don't really agree. Andromeda just looks like ME3 but with DA:I mixed in.
Soft-reboot looks hard sci-fi similar to the transition of art styles between Bungie's and 343i's Halo.
It's nothing even remotely close to hard sci-fi and there's barely any style change at all, nothing on the level of Halo 3 to Halo 4.
Andromedas designs outside of 1 or 2 actually remind me mostly of ME1. Less metal armor, more space age fabrics and materials ala ME1
I hope for the sake of consistency, that they put another cheesy Two Steps From Hell song in the launch trailer. Maybe that's a silly thing to wish for, but I think it'd be cute. Anyway - while we're talking about Andromeda being like ME1, you can craft weapons with vintage heat sinks in Andromeda, as opposed to only using thermal clips: Source.
Musical opinion question here: What's your favorite soundtrack from the series? I've been working on a project that needs ambient music from the game, kinda wanted to put feelers out there
Disregarding THAT theme because everyone and their dog would post it, the others are and the tracks so good they had to bring them back for three:
I always liked this one from ME1. Quite memorable.
Disregarding THAT theme because everyone and their dog would post it, the others are
Depends on whether or not you mean Uncharted Worlds or Vigil. It'll always be Uncharted Worlds for me.
obviously he means suicide mission

Sure. Here's 'this' with every character's theme in it at the choosing points.
I honestly have to go with Sovereign's Theme (if not Uncharted Worlds). There's just something about it that gives me chills like no other Mass Effect song. If I were to guess, it's because of the discussion with Sovereign himself; shit's fucking great.
This song really just reminds me how goddamn good ME2's ending was. Goofy human-reaper nonsense aside, it was incredibly well paced, well scored, and meaningful.
Completing ME3 again after like 4 years made me realize why I went and replayed 1 and 2 so much; it really left me starving for more. I won't hold out for it, but I really hope Andromeda turns out well.
I actually really liked ME2's rendition of Uncharted Worlds And I'm glad they decided to reuse this track in ME3 [editline]29th January 2017[/editline] And the single standout piece from ME3, at least for me
Out of curiosity, since the debacle following ME3's release, when was the last time anyone here played the games? I personally haven't played any since beating ME3, save for going through the DLC as it released. I think I'm finally going to go back to them in the next couple months; nearly 4 years of distance from the series and I've forgotten a good chunk of all of them so I'm thinking it might feel fresh again. Also doing a side project and mucking around with re-making the SR2 interior, or at least parts of it, in 3DSMAX. Took a whole bunch of reference images today though and goddamn, when you really look at the ship, there's an awful lot that doesn't make sense. Take the repeated floor plates for example: Talk about a fuckin' safety hazard. Deep indentations, wide gaps between plates that look to go down a good inch; it's amazing nobody busts their ass walking on those. Then there's things like the crew station hovering on the wall rather than being actually attached to it. Doesn't hurt the game at all, but from a design standpoint some things really stand out when you look for it.
I hadn't played a single Mass Effect game after ME3 released, other than the story portion of the Citadel DLC. I just beat Mass Effect 1 a few days ago for my 11th time, and oh man have I forgotten how much better it was than I remembered. The Mako was a lot worse than I thought, but everything else was a hell of a lot better. With the correct build I was just launching people all over the maps and I can genuinely say it's the most fun I've had with a Mass Effect game; especially the last level. The game has a shitload of technical problems, but it still feels the best game out of the three, honestly. Not only does it have what I could only describe as "soul", all of the major missions are a hell of a lot more interesting than anything ME2 has to offer, excluding the final one, of course. I don't know if I just hadn't realized it or if I had forgotten, but there's like 3 very different ways of beating the Noveria stage, for example. Overall every encounter, mission, whatever just feels more organic than anything in the sequel. It's a lot more interesting and fun to enter combat knowing you're seeing the enemies that you'll get and that they're all coming at you, instead of Mass Effect 2's "here's a door that 2 vorcha come out of every time you kill the previous 2 vorcha for about 10 minutes", or how every level feels like an arena designed for a game instead of a real locale. All Mass Effect 2 really had on the first one is an additional layer of polish and more in-depth character moments. For all the combat improvements I remember it having, it really doesn't feel any better, if not just downright worse. Biotics just feel a lot shittier all of a sudden (except warp, of course, which was like a biotic fart in the first one) and the combat is honestly a goddamn chore. It never felt as bogged down in the first game, even during some of the really long Mako sections (Virmire, Ilos, Therum) it feels a lot better paced than Mass Effect 2's hunker down into a shooting gallery for 10-20 minutes. The only fight so far where I've had any possibility of moving around was on Horizon with the defense battery, where 2 Scions and like 12 Husks come at you. I mean, sure, the combat looks nicer and has more oomph to it, but it's just so much less involving than the first one. That said, I'm still enjoying my fresh run of the trilogy immensely. I'm really looking forward to experiencing the actual part of the Citadel DLC and the Extended Cut ending (which I've never seen, but I know a little bit of what to expect). All of this is really making me look forward to Andromeda, even though I'm not really expecting anything out of it.
Just played through all 3. I finished ME3 on Friday, it was probably November-ish when I started 1? Something like that. I've always enjoyed ME2 the least of the trilogy and this playthrough cemented that even more. It's got good moments but I hate how dumbed down the leveling system is, and how you can only level up after completing a mission. Also, in my head I had remembered 2 and 3 being nearly identical as far as combat goes, but 3 feels so much better. The moment 3 started I was like "Oh yeah, I forgot how much more fun this is than the other two games". ME1 will always have a special place in my heart for how good the story is, but it's so outdated and got a lot of clunkyness to it that felt like a chore to get through. Despite 3's story problems, it's a more enjoyable experience than the other two at this point. I dunno that I'll ever play 1 or 2 again.
I played through all of ME1 probably around a month ago, with the intent to do ME2 and ME3 again as well. But ME2 is just a huge brick wall of bad that I dropped it again and haven't bothered continuing.
Interesting to hear those viewpoints, as ME2 was far and away my favorite when I last played it. Wonder if my opinion will change this time.
I love the series, but I can't play through ME1 without just giving myself god armor/weapons so I can just fast-track the story to get a save for the next one. The gameplay has aged pretty poorly, but it's still a great game. ME2 is probably still my favorite. I haven't played them in such a long time that I may need to go revisit them before ME:A comes out. But I find 3 kind of sluggish for story. At least the gameplay is good.
I recently played them all again as well, and man, I never realized before how fucking buggy ME2 is sometimes. I straight up walked out of bounds and into places I couldn't escape without quickloading tens of times. [editline]29th January 2017[/editline] Still love it and 1 though after all this time. [editline]29th January 2017[/editline] And that broken door softlock bug on Thane's loyalty mission can suck my dick
I haven't played Mass Effect 2 apart from like the first couple of hours. I've played Mass Effect 1 all the way through 3 times, might start up a 4th soon.
I really want to replay them before the new one comes out, but I don't have my 360 and fuck buying all the old DLC if I wanted to do it backward compatibly.
The song I really liked from ME3 was the Mars Theme, though really the only part that made me feel this way was the synthy part from 3:05-3:16 because it was pretty much the one part that sounded like it came from the original Mass Effect soundtrack. So uhh I kinda want to discuss the fact that 27X kinda leaked that the squadmate Cora Harper could be linked to The Illusive Man (Jack Harper) in this thread. I mean, I don't want to trust him on this but let's assume it's true. Obvious link is she's his daughter. That would really come out of the blue (no matriarch-related pun intended). But could she be another bot, like EVA? After all, Cora is kinda like Coré, the person that TIM loved and in remembrance of whom he made the Eva Coré bot. Besides though, the real Eva Coré was blonde like Cora, and unlike the bot named after her. But then, naming her Harper would make it slightly obvious, wouldn't it? Not to in-game characters, since they won't know of TIM's real name. But obvious to the players, maybe? Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?
It would make sense, though even if there isn't a family connection I wouldn't be surprised if we see the game touch on the concept of human supremacy, even with a new galaxy; not like human nature is going to change, so having a (loose) tie to Cerberus wouldn't be beyond the pale. That said, I'm going to be massively disappointed if Cerberus has anything more than a meager presence in Andromeda; it was bad enough in ME3 when they went from a (reasonably) small yet well-funded group to a full-blown army that was almost more dangerous than the Reapers themselves, making them an extra-galactic militia would be awful.
I wouldn't mind if there was a small task force (like a shuttle full) that snuck on to hijack the project. But like that's all as sort of a "uh no the station is under attack from within" scenario. Like mutiny
Man the last thing I want to deal with in this new Mass Effect setting is Cerberus again.
