• Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?

The Andromeda initiative was almost certainly part-funded by Cerberus, its the kind of thing they would fund through their clandestine channels.
I swear to god if Cerberus and humans first bullshit hijack the series again I'm going to scream. I'll take maybe Coras loyalty mission and that's it.
Does anyone else think Cora looks... off? Like the head does not fit the body
Guess its just my personal preference but the name "Ryder" is kinda lame and unappealing to me.
Does anyone else think Cora looks... off? Like the head does not fit the body
The body feels too small/skinny for her head which is made all the worse by the face being relatively photorealistic. It looks like a badly-proportioned comic book heroine, though with the helmet on from what I remember it looks slightly better.
A lot of the images and stuff of Andromeda just look off to me. There's something weird going on with the colours.

I didn't remember Blast Hardcheese's real name was Ryder
I'm on the fence, and I will definitely wait for Metacritic, and I'll never pre-order a EA/BW game again after ME3. I was disappointed, let's leave it at that. My concerns about Andromeda is the inconsistencies in it, and the apparent lack of a main story. Alright, they shoehorn MEA in between ME2 and 3, fine. I can roll with that. Even though this pretty much retcons Shepard's "eternal legacy" and makes the "we're keeping our ME3 saves forever"-drivel bullshit. But where did the ship's A.I come from? Between ME2-3, A.I is still considered crapshots by like 99% of the population, and the accompanying neural links is way beyond anything in the original games. Would the Citadel races even allow the Alliance such an advantage? Do they have their own A.I? Neural links? Neither seem to be a secret. Given how suspect A.I are in this universe, I don't think A.I should have roles like this until post-ME3, it pulls me out of the immersion. On a more minor note, the whole "travel to a new galaxy" is never mentioned as being possible in the trilogy, or even being considered, so they bring out the AssPull-Drive/Project. Makes MEA feel more like an alternate universe to me, and then I might as well read fan-fics. (On a related note, anyone know of any good ones?) But those things pale in comparison to the biggest question I have; what is the main red thread bringing all the smaller missions and stories together? Because I have no idea. In the original trilogy it was the Reaper invasion, and yeah, BW wrote themselves into a corner with them. While the First Contact scenario in MEA seems interesting, FC doesn't seem to be the main thing, and I've heard and read it is mostly about gathering resources and building bases. Really? That'll get old real fucking quick. I could be mistaken, but that's what the signs point to. I don't require Reapers 2.0, but more info on the actual main storyline would be nice. The story is why I got into ME in the first place, not the graphics, or the gameplay, or the multiplayer BW keep gushing about and I don't really care about.

I dunno if you've seen either of the Cinematic Trailers, but there is very, very clearly a main story involving the Kett Archon and the Remnants. I couldn't say more about it, other than that there clearly is one. Overall the whole Andromeda Initiative is (MiniusGC has a pretty cool video about it, I can link it if people want me to) shady as fuck. They talk about tapping into resources and whatever, but so much of the Milky Way is still unexplored that it doesn't really make any sense to go over to Andromeda for just "resources". So it's either running away from the Reapers, and for some reason being secretive about it, or that they're aiming for something in particular; like maybe they have some clues as to there being some cool technology or other shit going on over at the Helius cluster in Andromeda. The AI thing is interesting and weird. The Andromeda Inititative is funded by private companies and backers, so I guess they could get away with AI research; especially if most of the research, building and prep was done out in the Terminus Systems, not in Citadel space. One point I've heard, although I'm not very happy about it, is that something like Cerberus would clearly be interested in the Andromeda Initiative. From there you just look at Alec Ryder wanting to use AI for the "betterment of humankind" and the fact that there's someone named Cora Harper in a pretty big role and you could make ties to Cerberus that would make most people here unhappy. Though, it's also possible that TIM knew about the reapers and figured that the Andromeda Initiative is a good backup plan. This is subjective, but I don't think the "travel to a new galaxy" thing is all that bad. Yeah it's never mentioned, but I don't see why it would've been mentioned that much in any case. Going to a new galaxy? That's not something a lot of people would be into. Besides, if they're doing shit with AI I also don't expect them to have been all that open with their Initiative; more like they looked for people than people coming to them. But overall I don't find it problematic because I just see this as the best way to continue the series. Doing a prequel would feel silly and continuing from ME3 would be nigh-impossible. On the building and gathering resources, we just don't know. We know it'll play a part, but how big we can't say. You can have expectations, bad or good, but it feels silly to assume so much before they say anything. You also shouldn't pre-order anything, period.
At this point I really hope I'll get the option to romance Peebee, because honestly that romanceable human squad member looks really off to me. Given this is a modern BioWare game, I also expect eterosexual male main characters to be able to choose between a Betty and a Veronica, while bisexual males will have access to a wide harem
She's an asari, it's practically a given [editline]3rd February 2017[/editline] Wait, I forgot you couldn't romance Samara. Shit
They confirmed yesterday that she is.
I just want Vetra to be fuckable and an alternate outfit that removes the dumb visor female turians are the best

At least we got Kaidan eventually. And even then, he's kind of just a bag of bricks.
They confirmed yesterday that she is.
awww yeeeeeah [editline]3rd February 2017[/editline] oh god what have i done
You can just message -Maverick- if you need to talk about it, also there will surely be an ass level conversation just so you know how you should proceed.
Our first glimpse of the multiplayer, in the pre-order trailer...
So it's Mass Effect 3's multiplayer again? I'm actually cool with that. I had a lot of fun with it.
Mostly. There are some cross-play caveats to get you to play SP and make friend with people with better cards than you.
I really hope the music is good. I need more galaxy map stuff

Started one last series walkthrough. Gotta get that final proper save. The jogging around and flipping around in the MAKO gets a little old the sixtieth time around but I gotta see this through, give Shepard a proper goodbye. Kinda excited for Andromeda, despite everything. Feels like a new adventure to uncharted lands and all that.

Have hammer, will travel
I'm buying Andromeda for the multiplayer and I might get a cool singleplayer game with it.
I hope we'll have these guys back
Ive been playing a lot of me3 mp recently. It really is pretty fun, and if Andromeda's is any improvement on it i'd honestly consider it a redeeming factor if the game itself wasn't great lol
Krogan Vanguards, man. Like strapping a warp drive to an angry rhinoceros.
I hope Krogan Warlord will make its return with a big fucking hammer and big fucking explosions

The "Mass Effect 3 Mod Manager", allows you to change the wave settings, how many enemies spawn, how strong they are, how long cooldowns take to recharge, gravity, speed, and how much credits you earn per objective. Made a scenario where it's just zombies running at you really fast, with abominations that explode with larger and stronger blast radius. Found it was really fun with players on gold.
