It's an excellent opportunity for them to be creative. We know that krogans have four balls (the "quads" as they call it), but do they actually have dongs, or some sort of cloaca akin to most reptiles? ...when you think about it, the latter would be a good reason for how krogan mating is "clumsy". Though that hunchback of theirs would also be a problem, I imagine.

San Andreas got reclassified and you couldn't even see anything without mods

Not too sure about the amount of handholding though, I hope this is just this one quest and the game doesn't have everyone state the obvious all the time because then I might just go insane before I finish it.
