Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?

Review embargo lifts a day before release, that's March 20th. I'd guess that's a good sign.
How the fuck are the Ryders only 22???

But most people can play the game for themselves 4 or 5 days before that. I don't really understand the day prior review embargo.

They're not.
They're 622. :v:
Seriously though, I thought Shepard being 27 at the start on Mass Effect was a little young, 22 is fucking ridiculous. It just reminds me of Stargate when they were pitched a tv show about their mission starring young actors. Everyone agreed it was a terrible idea.
The male Ryder looks like he is in his thirties

What exactly about it? If it's just about it being a day before release, sure, you can play the game using early access but that's not the full price sale.
Mp better be fucking good
I assume it's because they seem to be making Ryder a quippy sarcastic Nathan Drake-esque character and those people are generally early-mid twenties (Tho I guess Drake is like 57 or w/ever by the latest one), at least from what I've seen. Plus they know their audience is that age-range so maybe to help people get into the characters more?
Dunno and I'll prob be too busy laughing at those fucking animations to really notice anyway

Did a multi-ton 6 wheel drive vehicle seriously stop when it hit those three soldiers at 1:40?

It's a gentle giant.
Aside from the Nomad coming to a screeching halt when it hit those dudes, this game looks really solid. The exploration looks like good fun.
Did like 90% of the development focus on the gameplay mechanics and the rest on story, graphics and whatever was left spent on ripping off the Precursors from Halo
That female angaras body proportion seemed really off putting. She seemed really lanky, like male troll from war craft lanky.

Well I mean I guess they're really meant to be sorta newbies, and 22 is a pretty average age for people joining the military

The problem is they went back to the game that didn't get tons of criticism without understanding why it didn't get tons of criticism. (and frankly it did get criticism, but the criticism was almost 100% about mechanics)
The theory is if you combine the thematics and worldbuilding from 1 and the combat from three you get the perfect game, as if the things that make the worldbuilding happen in the first place don't need their own level of quality and immersion.
Montreal's writing chops aren't up to par with Edmonton's. That's simply how it is. Two of the people hired, one of them as scenario/writing lead aren't even up to that standard, much less the best of what you got from the original trilogy.
As I stated before, the SNPCs have some good, even some brilliant stuff. The overall arc is a bunch or recycled overused and overexposed mantras that we've seen pretty much get run through the mill over the last decade from various sources, and one metric ton of fancervix, because apparently as long a callback isn't a direct lift, it's fine.
This is typical of the kind of thing that happens when your feedback is filtered and sanitized along careful channels so no one 'feels bad' or is upset about fan reaction and reception, and no one outside of the circle gets to openly and honestly critique where you're at in terms of presentation and it's rapidly becoming the norm at a lot of companies.

If they joined right out of high school, assuming they graduated around 18 like we do now, they would have just ended their active duty component of their enlistment, using the US Army as a base. Again basing off the US Army, they would have two years left under the Individual Ready Reserve. Though that could have gotten waived since Papa Ryder is a N7 and a war hero or to secure human interests in another Galaxy. Frankly I'm pretty cool with having some rather green protagonists as opposed to the "veteran of a 1000 conflicts" we normally see.
Anyone else going to just use that Origin Access to give it a go and see how it all plays? You end up saving $1 if you end up getting ME:A or you're only out $5 if its crap.

I think it's more about them following the traditional "hero's journey" with the Ryders, as opposed to Shepard who was a seasoned veteran by the time we played as him.
I'm currently on a very narrow edge between buying Mass Effect: Andromeda or NieR: Automata by the end of March.
I think my final judgment will be heavily influenced by people and professionals' reviews, because, at the current state, I'm far from impressed (this is a personal opinion, but honestly, after the many animations and idle faults contained in Dragon Age: Inquisition, witnessing such levels of presentation and animations is nothing short of insulting. And I wouldn't complain that much if story cutscenes were the main bulk of BioWare games, since, on an average, you spend a lot of time talking to people, witnessing events unfold and take on quests from NPCs. Unless the true aim of this game really is "we can open world too and better!" and exploration, and fuck everything else)
I'm very glad that they'll have it on Origin Access before release. I desperately want it to be good but every time I see something that looks great I see two more things that look terrible. If I like what they have playable I'm definitely going to preorder it, but as of right now I'm very hesitant to do so.
Also what the fuuuck is with the mouthflaps. They're still showing up and they genuinely look like a bug.
I swear to god, everytime a new video comes out, a new set of things wrong with the game show up too, like I can't help but always find at least 1 problem in each of these videos they make.
I'm still getting the game but god damn, they're really trying to make me change my mind.
Don't get me wrong, I liked DA:I but I smell its taint here.

Christ. That female angara reminds me of Sera with the way she speaks and sounds. I hope we get an option to destroy them.
In recent news: Tumblr is really pissed that Liam is confirmed straight.

So help me God, at this point, I can only hope that with the development hell this game has gone through that its even close to just DA:I levels of jank.

her face is really weird to me
I hope this still has the "keep helmet on at all times" option cause it's sure going to need it.
her face is really weird to me
Her head just doesn't seem to fit her body at all. The males head fits his body compared to the females slightly slimmed body. It seems like the head size just stayed the same.
