Star Wars Gaming Megathread Episode II - Attack of the Season Pass

I just want a fucking NGE server with space combat with no drama bullshit causing it to shut down, come on. Why are NGE servers run by fucking children?
I don't like pre-NGE that much.
Are you fucking kidding me? got some "farewell" post somewhere or? I honestly can't believe they've already fucked this up.
People really love their drama don't they.
Yep.
Seems alot of the drama keeps getting spilled from the community to the dev team and vice versa.
I don't really understand how much drama like that happens in the first place unless somebody is doing something they're not supposed to. Like, there's a story how one of the GMs in reborn was giving items e.g mandalorian armor in exchange for erotic roleplay, and nude pics.
Well, I think I'm going to take a break for a while. This kinda did it for me and I don't enjoy emu all that much with it's lack of content and janky combat.
What I've read on SWG Legends is that a few people left due to drama, and those who left were (supposedly) really hated in the community anyways. The people that are left are the better of the people. One of the devs confirmed that it will still be coming back up, the forums are trasnferring to another server host, and that everything will be back soon.
Heard that before.

Facepunch curse: 2
SWG: 0
Well if it's just the bad parts that left, then we might be okay. I just want an NGE server run by a stable staff, man.
Stop toying with my heart. I can't do this D:
It all seemed to have started when the brought back someone in from Reborn that people didn't like.
Like 80% of the community voted to keep him away too.
I have dubbed our 'curse' Darth Punchus.
Tell me, have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Punchus the Wise?
No.
I thought not, it's not a story the Admins would tell you. It's a Web Legend. Darth Punchus was a shitposter so powerful and wise, he could influence the memes to destroy NGE emulations. He had such a knowledge of the memes, he could even keep the ones he cared about from having fun.
He could actually stop games?
The memes are a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
What happened to him?
He became so powerful, the only thing he became afraid of was enjoying games, which eventually he did. Unfortunately, everyone regrouped on SWGEmu, then they all went and had fun. It's ironic. He could save others from fun, but not himself.
Is it possible to learn this power?
Not from an Admin.
Emu aint that bad. Better than nothing.
[editline]16th January 2016[/editline]
If Emu, such a massive community dies cause of us too I will give up videogames lmao
SWG is the one game i really really want back. I still think about it quite often, i used to play it so much.
Most of the time i spent in the game was decorating my house. This was my house, which i never managed to finish:

It's a shame all these attempts to bring it back keep failing, although it's not a surprise really. From what I've read it's the same few people who keep ruining the projects.
I'd love to be able to have all the NGE content and play through it all again. Even though things like a proper economy wouldn't be there, I'd still play a lot of it if it worked. How would things like veteran rewards, event rewards, TCG items. pre-NGE items etc be handled, anyway? Collecting rare items was something i enjoyed doing, i had quite a few things that were no longer obtainable without trading for then. Just giving them to everyone wouldn't seem right, it'd take away a lot of important things from the in-game economy.
I really miss the game. I hope some day it comes back and there aren't any significant changes or problems with it, i just want a NGE SWG that's as close to what it was as possible.

Well when Legends was up everyone got everything, but they called that the "Fun" server, it had consoles that gave you items and instant level 90.
No idea what they planned on doing once they had a real server up.

That's understandable for a test server, but it really wouldn't work in-game and would make things pretty meaningless. They could maybe add things to the rare-drop system or as heroic loot, but the rare items that were once-common (e.g. pre-CU food) or the later event items wouldn't really make much sense for that.
SWG Reborn failed, SWG Ostrich failed, SWG Legends failed, is there anything left being worked on? I thought they were all the same project pretty much, anyway. I didn't have much hope for them in the first place, i haven't read too much about them but it seems to be the same few people ruining them.
Does anyone know what all the problems with these projects were? I'm not sure what the developers i keep seeing mentioned supposedly did in other projects or why those failed, i just keep seeing mentions of how it's bad when certain people are on the team with no real explanation.
I kinda liked having all the veteran rewards given to me immediately.
It felt like I was returning to the game after several years rather than restarting the game entirely. Or something like that.

Veteran rewards were one of the things that added to the economy because they were hard to get, though. Things like the resource crates and the multi-year rewards were important and expensive, just giving them to everyone would make them completely meaningless. Without them, there would be fewer rare items to trade. They were items people actually wanted, partially because they weren't easy to get and without them there would be fewer rare items to trade for. Obviously it's doubtful the game will be around for long enough to get the higher level rewards, which is a problem, but just giving them out to everyone straight away wouldn't be the right way to do it.
SO we all on EMU now then? We have a spot picked out for a shitshack settlement?
SO we all on EMU now then? We have a spot picked out for a shitshack settlement?
Not yet, I don't think. Since EMU's got WAY more players and has been going for WAY longer than SWGR and SWGL, most of the nice spots have been colonized already. We'll have to organize as a group and go out looking.
And if anyone still cares about Legends, they posted an announcement on the site saying they're going to bring the server back up tonight.
I really hope they get things back under control.
Don't hurt me anymore legends.

I don't quite understand everything that's been going on, but didn't all those developers leave for a reason? I doubt the server will stay up for long, although i'll still play some while it's there.
Could stay up for all of like a day, but it could also be the best thing that happened to the server and lead to a much more stable(management wise) and successful server(I don't quite understand what's going on either, just that there have been arguments and stuff between the staff.). We'll see what happens.
Legends is back up, I think I'll say there and keep giving you guys updates.
I'm currently bumming around Mos Eisley (EMU) at the moment if anyone wants to group up.
Kinda gotten a taste for it now, combat is very comparable to KOTOR if anyone is wondering.
For the Legends server, do they mean they'll have a real one up or just a test again?
Probably the test/fun server. But I see it as better than it shutting down entirely.
The fun server is boring though. There isn't anything to really do other than explore. No vendors anywhere. I don't think they have quests up either
Something i've been wondering about SWG that i can't remember, did they add the ability to place vehicles in houses at some point? I remember you could do it with the vehicle garage/hangar, but i can't remember if you could elsewhere.
Also, did they add destroyed droids/droid parts/folded-up battle droids as decoration?
I took a break from the game shortly before the end so i can't quite remember what changed while i was gone.
In most of the houses I've gone in, I've seen cars and vehicle parts as well as droids as decoration
In most of the houses I've gone in, I've seen cars and vehicle parts as well as droids as decoration
I know you could just place droids themselves, but i remember laying around as environment decoration there were things like de-activated Astromech droids and their parts (e.g. legs), broken Droidekas, folded battledroids etc. I can't remember if they added those as obtainable items or not.
You cant register for legends just now any idea when you can?
