Does anyone got a spare beta key to share? I'm keen on testing the beta, but shelling out $70 dollars isn't something I think I could do.
Maybe ask support? v:v:v
If someone is given a friend code, are they able to try the beta immediately? Because otherwise I'm going to completely miss the open beta, I'll be away from my computer until tuesday

yes

Now this is sad, considering you can get the keys for nothing.
Nevermind, seems the response for getting a key is automated, got mine almost as soon as I sent the email.
Are they going to unlock more of the beta when it gets to open? Because literally only two different weapons and 3 maps is realllllly wearing.
fuck me, fighter piloting is so much more fun and dynamic now. the new flying units are great too
whats with the squad/spawn system in this game? it's super bad
whats with the squad/spawn system in this game? it's super bad
They wanted to promote team work by forcing people into random squads.
In theory this sounds...okay?
In practice nobody in the squad stays together and they fuck off to random parts of the map. Just make them Battlefield squads.

See it doesn't even make sense to me, because in battlefield games i'd stick with my squad because they were usually my friends/people that were in that squad for the whole game.
you also can't tell them apart from everybody else, they're the same blue on the minimap and have no markers indicating them?
Right now this my checklist for what I want fixed or edited.
1. Party Squad/Squad Spawn.
I don't get the idea of randomizing squads if they don't stay together. In Battlefield, squadplay gives bonus points and lets friends play easier. This is a terrible example of squad play, because you can't build a relationship with the squaddies that are randomly given to you. Battlefront's partner system was good because you could spawn on your partner and typically it was bit of an unspoken bond. Right now it's not good teamwork promotion. Just have a normal squad system that allows for parties to remain grouped together.
2. Reduction to price and buffs to reinforcement and hero units.
So right now, as I've played every reinforcement class and hero available to us at this moment, and played with both the AT-RT and AAT. Reduce the cost on everything but the heroes. The reinforcement units do not have a lot of survivability and generally are just slightly ampped up versions of regular classes. SBD and Wookiees should be scary to fight against, and for their cost of 3k BP it's fucking sad to see them easily cut down by regular units with little to no effort. Heroes are the same, while I enjoy them no longer being juggernauts and one shotting like Luke and Vader, they are just stupidly weak right now and requires you to do hit and run tactics. Pushing into enemy lines is a near death sentence because of how squishy you are. That being said they aren't too gimped, but I feel as if they aren't worth it unless you wanna fuck around.
Vehicles are bit more iffy, I've played around with the AAT and it's basically a very slow AT-ST with less splash damage. AR-RT is mostly a waste of BP again because it's damage output and abilities aren't that good. Let the fucking thing trample people. I've ran over droids and was shocked to find they don't die. 3.5k for a vehicle is unrealistic seeing as most people don't have that much BP where it could begin to matter unless they're wiping enemy players left and right.
All the reinforcement classes need a buff with the exception of jump troopers. Supposedly were getting and ARC Trooper so that might replace the clones' wookiee right now. But holy fuck, the SBD,Wookiee and bless his heart the flame trooper just aren't friggen worth it. Wookiee has an imploder which is nice, SBD has...wrist rockets, both have 300ish HP, but fight more than two opponents aware of you, then you're gonna be laid out faster than you can lay them out. Make both reinforcement classes 1k BP, that allows for less of an investment on players halfs because these units CAN be used for pushing like the heroes, but they can be in more abundance.
Fundamentally right now, it's in a good place, but it needs tuning.
No, for some weird reason it's every time you repsawn you're in a new squad.
What a terrible system lol, they didn't really learn from the last game did they
I just tried playing with a friend and it's bizarre. It will link you up to put you into games together but when you are in it will separate you into different squads while retaining the green highlight. Which means you can see each other but you can't perform any real teamwork actions. Not that there are many there in the first place.
My biggest criticism of the game overall is that I just don't know what is happening. I don't know what I'm taking damage to, I don't know what I died to, shits exploding and blasters are going off and it looks fucking great (and runs really well too, props to DICE) but it's just a confusing mess that makes things more frustrating than fun. Star card abilities really aren't explained well enough either. In Starfighter Assault this is turned to 11, with ships flying all over the place shooting each other and objectives being done seemingly by accident more than anything else. I feel like it might be a map problem because the first phase of Theed isn't too bad but once things get indoors or once you get the objective in Strike into the forest it just because a mishmash of colors and instant death. I'd like to try playing this game on a traditional Battlefield style Conquest map. The UI also leaves a lot to be desired. I can't tell where my squad is or how much health each squad member has, and I can't even see how many times I've died which is downright bizarre in a game that relies on the ticket system.
I'm mixed on the game overall. Looks great, sounds great, certainly better than the first game (which frankly feels like a $60 alpha test of what we have now), the movement and shooting feels solid, nothing comes across as immediately overpowered, except maybe the Jedi heroes but it just feels like it's missing something that keeps me coming back to games like Battlefield or CoD every year. Something I can't quite put my finger on.

it's missing in-depth progression and a feeling of actually achieving something
it's missing in-depth progression and a feeling of actually achieving something
If a game is just fun to play, it doesnt need a progression system. I have hundreds of hours in BF4 despite having had everything I wanted unlocked in the first maybe 50 hours but I keep playing it because its fun.
[editline]5th October 2017[/editline]
Like people love the shit out of Overwatch but there is literally no "progression" in that game beyond leveling up your arbitrary level and getting more loot crates.

An accurate summary of flametrooper gameplay.
Alright. I got to ask. Are the droidekas not in this game? Is there any evidence? The empty slot that I see on the loadouts for the clone troopers makes me think that it is the droideka.
Droidekas are confirmed to be non-present at launch, though the devs have shown interest at adding them as post-release content.
Peeking at the Reddit discussions for the beta, and I'm finding it incredibly amusing that apparently EA customer support's been gullible enough in the past few hours that anyone claiming their beta keycode wasn't working (regardless if they had legitimately earned one) has been getting free codes, no questions asked.
Not trying it myself (doubt my laptop can take this game, seriously considering going XBox One with the release), and spreading the word is probably going to make EA stopgap this leakage pretty quickly, but rather amusing nonetheless.
It works got it instantly.
Seems like open beta goes live at 9am tomorrow, pleasant surprise, I was thinking it would go in the evening as usual because US times.
I don't really understand why the scoreboard only tells you eliminations and points. why can't I see my deaths or assists?

I'm guessing so people won't care about their K/D ratio.
Luke and Vader sound so much better compared to their audio in BF1, though that isn't saying much.

Huh, the emperor has lines when facing Yoda.
Same with Bossk and Chewbacca.

Apparently they did get Daisy to voice Rey. An EA Community Manger account on reddit confirmed it.

Lmao EA Help even asks you to attach your receipt for a new code but they give it to you either way.
I honestly had lots of fun in the beta last night. Will definitely be picking this up.
It's a shame about Screen Space Reflections though doing this.

Not sure if I've seen a technique that doesn't do this, there's probably something that I'm forgetting though.
A bit late, but that's due to the way reflections are done. Real time reflections since you need to basically re-render the screen, especially in deffered rendering where you need to re-render the screen at around 4 times more or less for one surface. Most games handle this with "Screen Space Reflections" They literally take whatever is on the screen and mirror it for the surface. Which works 90% of the time. Issue with it is, you only have information from the screen, including objects in the foreground such as that light-saber, so it mirrors that as well.
Nevermind, seems the response for getting a key is automated, got mine almost as soon as I sent the email.
Was the key in that email? I got an email with a case number and an access key for that case but the key doesn't seem to be the same key to redeem a code. I suppose it's not working anymore? lmao
Edit: nevermind, I did it in Firefox and received a different email with the access code. Weird that it would send different emails for the same exact process
So... they have the rights to Harrison Ford's face right?
...Right?
Damn it, if you want to complete weapon challenges you need to use basic weapons.
I'm guessing so people won't care about their K/D ratio.
Not being able to see my deaths in a ticket-based game is annoying though.

It looks like him

That is a good point.

Apparently they got rid of the death counter in Battlefield 1 as well?
