I don't understand why people would dump so much money into that.
I don't understand why people would dump so much money into that.
Especially when as soon as the next Star Wars or even Dice game is out, they're gonna move onto that, so overall it just seems a real waste
If people are wondering whos buying microtransactions from EA the answer is these people
What the fuck
Especially when as soon as the next Star Wars or even Dice game is out, they're gonna move onto that, so overall it just seems a real waste
Shhhh let them live for today. If they think about the future they'll have an existential crisis.

I now understand. EA is preying on stupid people like that.
This is interesting:
Hello again! Since EA and DICE have decided to move SWBF2 to a "credits earned based on time played" rather than the old system of awarding you based on score earned in a match, I thought I would do an analysis of my time spent playing the Galactic Assault mode during the EA Access period. Please note that credits earned in challenges are not factored in to these numbers. While I was playing, I started a timer as soon as the match started and the opening shot pans down to my character. I stopped the timer on the Victory or Defeat screen. This spreadsheet and subsequent stats are based on minutes of actual gameplay, no loading times or time spent fuddling around in menus is factored in because many people are playing on many different machines and platforms. Here is the spreadsheet for those of you that want to dive right in to what I have so far. Here are some interesting stats I have found from my Galactic Assault matches so far (keep in mind these are the statistics at the time of writing up this post. I will continue to enter my matches as I play them so the exact values may change a bit): Average Galactic Assault Match Length: 11:09 In my opinion this needs to increase by at least a factor of two, maybe more. Average Credits per Match: 275 Far too low, we will get into that in a moment. Average Credits per Minute of Gameplay: 25.04 At first it sounds reasonable... Gameplay Minutes Required to Earn a Trooper Crate (4000): 159.73 Almost 3 hours of gameplay required to earn a trooper crate at the current rate. I understand these values don't include what you earn in challenges, but I am mainly doing this to figure out what it's going to be like after the first week and I am done chasing the easy challenges and start playing the way I enjoy. 3 hours is far, far too much of a time requirement. Gameplay Minutes Required to Unlock One Hero: 2,395.97 You read that correctly. At the current price of 60,000 credits it will take you 40 hours of gameplay time to earn the right to unlock one hero or villain. That means 40 hours of saving each and every credit, no buying any crates at all, so no bonus credits from getting duplicates in crates. The spreadsheet also includes estimates for the amount of time it will take to earn uncommon and rare cards based on the Gamespot crate opening statistics, but the drop rates have not been tested enough for me to include them there. But I do think it's scary that it could potentially take someone over 20 hours of gameplay to earn enough Crafting Parts to make an Epic tier Star Card. All I can say is that I hope these numbers are just for EA Access. If these are the final numbers for release DICE is going to have a hard time justifying this to the fanbase. If you have any questions or if I messed up my math in the spreadsheet somewhere, please let me know. I will continue to add more and more match stats as I play tonight.
40 hours to unlock a hero, huh
This is interesting: 40 hours to unlock a hero, huh
Is this accounting for challenges and stuff though. It's been a while since I played it but iirc For Honor had a really similar system to what the new battlefront has and you earned currency really slow just through matches but if you did daily challenges and weekly challenges it wasn't as bad. Still kinda silly that it's THAT slow.
40 hours to unlock a hero, huh
Still less brutal than Siege if you got the starter edition, can see 40 hours flying past if you really like the game.
Still less brutal than Siege if you got the starter edition, can see 40 hours flying past if you really like the game.
Yes. But the starter edition is what, $15? This is a $60 title.
EA, time and time again, make a great game, and then go and ruin it with scumbag bullshit. And the worst part is they keep doing it, and are getting worse about it, because people with more cents than sense buy into it
I'm going to try and not be cynical and say that this is them trying to add "progression" as in something to have a long term goal to get and work towards, except I think they missed the point because I feel like when most people say they want "progression" they want something like call of duty where you're leveling up and unlocking stuff every game. The real answer is probably the cynical one though.
I highly doubt it'll take 40 hours to unlock one hero? Even the grindiest games don't expect that much of a time commitment to unlock basic features. IDK why everybody is just accepting this as fact. I bet they'll be cheaper during the full release.

Sad part is, most of the locked heroes are weaker than the unlocked ones imo. (kylo ren/boba the best villains; Han/Lando/Yoda are the best heroes) It should drop to 10k credits to unlock a hero. Once challenges are gone, the faster progression goes away.

The outrage is unreal towards it, and I can't believe it is how it is now.

The only thing restricted is the campaign and hours played. If it changes its because we bitched them out.
I am actually so hyped for this. I played the shit out of Star Wars Battlefront 1 until all the dlc's came out and it became a personal shield+health pack cheese fest. Glad that's all been fixed in this it seems.

So unless you have to press a button to open certain doors in this game(which if you do I have never seen), Heroes can win in the Heroes vs Villains game mode every single match on Takodana. The castle has rooms on the second floor that only heroes can open, and the target can just hide in there while the other three heroes go after the villain target. I just ran out of trial time so I can't get footage of it, but we were literally sitting at the door for like a minute till a hero tried to attack us and the door opened when they walked by it :v: Also, you can ask for more trial time from EA chat support apparently. But EA chat is down for me atm and they want to talk via phone. Might be over flooded?
If I download the trial I don't have to redownload the actual game when it drops, right?
If people are wondering whos buying microtransactions from EA the answer is these people
He plays with Ravic. Ravic, mus1ck, and him are all buying a shitload of lootboxes day one to prove a point, I guess. I'm just over here wondering how I can get a job that lets me buy thousands of dollars in microtransactions just to prove a point :s:
If I download the trial I don't have to redownload the actual game when it drops, right?
There may be a small download/update at official launch, but ya that's how it worked with Mass Effect Andromeda.

The in-game cost is not representative of the final game cost." Most of the heroes... So reviewers don't even have enough time to try out all heroes with 6 times faster progression? Yeeah, I'm not expecting good scores and rightfully so. After ~6 hours of play I've reached 26,050 credits. I've completed some challenges while not actively trying to. I'm not spending anything until the game is fully released.
I like having something to aim for, but even the original Battlefront was painfully slow when it came to credits. Really hope they fix it up in this one. It took me far too long to unlock the Twi'lek player, and that included double XP weekends and shit
Pretty disappointing there's no cosmetics save for heroes to actually spend credits on, believe it or not I really enjoyed unlocking those in the first.
