This game not having customization yet, of all things, the crapfest that was the first game did... and didn't charge for them is so absurd
New information regarding heroes and the prices. https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7cdj5s/heroes_will_be_5k_10k_credits_ea_access_prices/?st=J9WAUJKZ&sh=29dc5db5
In the description of the video:
NOTE: During the review event EA had lowered the prices to allow reviewers the chance to play with most of the heroes. The in-game cost is not representative of the final game cost.
I really hope that this doesn't lead to EA getting a free pass because people think prices are lower due to this video.
This game not having customization yet, of all things, the crapfest that was the first game did... and didn't charge for them is so absurd
The only real customization I can think they can do is is the Rebellion. It only makes sense for them.
Pretty disappointing there's no cosmetics save for heroes to actually spend credits on, believe it or not I really enjoyed unlocking those in the first.
They really removed the face customization for your soldiers? And no more aliens either?
There's no customization at all. At.All.
Yeah I'm confused about that as well. I completely understand there not being any customization for all the other factions, but not for the Rebels/Resistance? Makes no sense.
I would be very surprised if they didn't add customisation for non-heroes later down the line. They want people to play the game for as long as possible, and that means grinding for unlocks in this kind of game. Right now it seems to me that there aren't enough unlocks. I know they're going to add more heroes, and with their price scheme it'll take a long time to buy them, but there's pretty much no reason for them not to have class cosmetics as well, especially when you aren't going to be playing as a hero most of the time anyway.
They said they were looking into further customization, but who knows what that means or when.
They've already got the various different species heads for the campaign, I doubt it'd take too much effort to let people select some of those for multiplayer.
Maybe it's one of those "EA rushed the thing out the door again so we couldn't implement XYZ and have to do it post release." episodes.
Maybe it's one of those "EA rushed the thing out the door again so we couldn't implement XYZ and have to do it post release." episodes.
Entirely possible. The microtransaction stuff itself feels like something mandated by EA. Speaking of which, I wouldn't have as big an issue with Star Cards if they were just the cards focusing on side grades and different play styles and none of the flat +X health/damage/speed/etc cards.
The thing that bothers me most is the insane grind. You want to unlock all heroes? Good luck with that. You will never be able to buy any crates. Ever. You know, that thing you need in order to get better star cards. Also, keep in mind that more heroes are coming so even when you have them all, you're not done saving. Right now, it's no longer a case of "everything is technically free because you can get it all through gameplay" because I don't see how you're ever going to be able to get everything without spending real money.
Like, unlocking basic title characters is insanity. There is no universe in which you don't have to be insane to defend this, it's such a fucking waste. It's like they combined literally every single bad choice in order to ruin a good game
The lack of customization was intentional. There was a lot of fan hostility towards it in the starwarsbattlefront subreddit(and I'm sure in other locations as well) during the first games cycle, especially in regards to the helmetless stormtroopers. It wouldn't make sense for just rebel customization, so I guess they just eliminated it altogether.
This is fucking hysterical.
A sense of pride and accomplishment they're perfectly content with allowing you to skip out on by shoveling cash their way.
If this didn’t have lootboxes I could understand this, a sense progression sells. People like unlocking new things. But with boxes it makes no sense.
Utterly disgusting
Like, I genuinely wouldn't care if it was cosmetics. But they've actively ruined the game doing this.
The only problem with cosmetics is that it'd be hard to make them work for the Empire and droids without feeling out of place, but I'm sure they could've managed. Even if it was just a little bit of "pay to skip the grind" I wouldn't mind so much edit: weapon cosmetics could totally work too, there's already some weapon customization going on battlefield 1 did that why not do it here too
Like, I genuinely wouldn't care if it was cosmetics. But they've actively ruined the game doing this.
Yeah especially with the advantage the unlocks give you, I was watching a video of fully upgraded Darth Vader with something like 1300 health just rinsing everyone on the enemy team. How anyone thought this was a good idea is mindblowing lol but I hope the amount of backlash can help them see that this isn't gonna be feasible.
Which is why just heavily limit the cosmetics to the heroes.
Eh, I doubt that'd make enough money for them. Not everyone plays heroes.
Which is why just heavily limit the cosmetics to the heroes.
I like that idea. Han Solo alone has like 10 different outfits he wears in the original trilogy. Throw in skins inspired by Legends, and feed the game with a steady stream of new heroes, and you have more than enough cosmetics to sustain a year of DLC. But that would be too logical, of course. Plus at this point it seems like EA corporate is partial to p2w micros as opposed to cosmetic lootboxes - why else would almost every one of their fucking releases this year have at least one foot in that direction?
I just wanted a good Star Wars game with no bullshit why's it gotta be like this.

Haha, this clown is still around? What does he think he is, some kind of Jedi? This is the scum/community manager who bribed the previous mods in order to censor and influence what gets posted and by whom, and he was banned from Reddit for it. Don't bother with this slime, he'll be a force ghost of a ''Community Manager'' soon enough if he keeps up with this sort of disdainful behaviour. That whole debacle also caused other mods and community personalities such as BattlefrontUpdates/Elliot to come under a lot of fire from disappointed fans in his involvement in this, and with EA. Bantha poo stains he hasn't been able to fully wash off, yet.
He even deleted a few tweets where he accused Reddit Corp of lying and banning him from the site. Recently deleted, too. Is there a release schedule for times the game comes out tomorrow? I want to know which time zone will be the earliest so I can use a VPN to unlock the game.
I remember when they said they were dropping the season pass in favor of "Overwatch-style lootboxes" so that the game wouldn't be divided This isn't overwatch style and a season pass would've been much cheaper to get the content and they actually locked main game features behind credits...

Like, let me point out literally EVERY OTHER GAME IN EXISTENCE IN WHICH YOU CAN UNLOCK STUFF.
Pointing out that in the original Star Wars: Battlefront II all the heroes were unlocked from the very beginning (althought they were limited to certain maps, barring specific special modes) could sound like a strawman argument at this point, couldn't it?
