He's having a mental breakdown because of his own stupidity over twitter, what a piece of shit
He's having a mental breakdown because of his own stupidity over twitter, what a piece of shit
I mean when people are constantly harassing you over microtransactions and shit that he physically cannot control, I can imagine it's taking a mental toll on him.
However don't you fucking dare suggest that "The devs know better" when people are upset that lootboxes are genuinely ruining the game experience for everyone who doesn't pay. Or blame reddit for banning you after you openly bribed mods for positive responses by giving pre-alpha access.

This entire thing wouldn't be an issue if loot boxes and scummy monetization practices weren't in place.
the people roasting him on his armchair devs comment are incredible I saw a post of code to fix the problem and then this https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7ci3pu/armchair_developer/dpq336g/ amazing
oh, hey, fantastic http://comicbook.com/gaming/2017/11/12/star-wars-battlefront-ii-future-dlc-characters/ DLC characters are more fucking expensive
They could have easily gone the way of doing hero cosmetics (ex. Hoth Luke, Old Solo, Cinnamon Bun Leia, Chewie w/C3PO backpack, etc.) in loot boxes while also keeping all base heroes automatically unlocked. I wouldn't mind if they lock future heroes with in-game money or pay directly with real cash much like what Rainbow Six: Siege has done.
I agree with this a lot, especially the cosmetics thing. Think of how many hours people would pour into the game grinding for an "I AM THE SENATE" Palpatine skin, and the system in game already has hero cosmetics so it makes sense for them to be the objective of the grind, not actual hero gameplay. The base heroes roster is too small for locking a third of it away. Also where's my boy Krennic at? He was in the last game and now I'm worried that because there's no movie to tie him in/some people incorrectly consider him a minor character that they won't include him later. Who's going to deploy the garrison now??

I'll shit on the prequels all day but fuck me when you say 'all eras', an entire OTHER TRILOGY shouldn't get the amount of heroes from one film.
And another spreadsheet https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7chkx3/you_get_a_total_of_32400_credits_from_challenges/?st=J9XO5HTL&sh=421b174e
This deal's getting worse all the time!
does this count as comparing themselves to the Empire
first they had a big huge thing that arrived with all the hype possible - it could've been something great but was built with severe flaws, and so its reign of terror pretty much was over as soon as it began. they made the new Battlefront to be the ultimate power in the universe and wanted to use it, but the graphical miracle they constructed and were so proud of was insignificant next to the gameplay of the originals and now they're making a new one that's basically the original thing but with changes here and there, critical flaws SUPPOSEDLY patched up and overall just bigger, but they're trying to make it operational while half of the plating is still missing and the skeletal frame that they call Battlefront II is vulnerable to well-directed PR disasters someone call the Ewoks - where's the shield generator and how do we blow it up?
I pre-ordered the game on EA Origin. I want to refund it but for some reason even though I own the game it says "You don't have any games that qualify for a refund right now." We are in within 7 days of the game's release date are we not? That's one of the conditions to be eligible so what the hell is going on? I'm using this link https://help.ea.com/en/refund/ is there some other way to refund?
The only problem with cosmetics is that it'd be hard to make them work for the Empire and droids without feeling out of place, but I'm sure they could've managed. Even if it was just a little bit of "pay to skip the grind" I wouldn't mind so much edit: weapon cosmetics could totally work too, there's already some weapon customization going on battlefield 1 did that why not do it here too
Why are things feeling out of place even a concern? This game has so much crossover bullshit that's obviously out of place like heroes and weapons, why not at least give the players something to look forward to like customizing their trooper? I honestly doubt anyone actually cares about 'authenticity' but if they do that's lame.

Cancel your preorder You haven't even been charged I'm pretty sure
Legends has all sorts of customization options they could use for the Empire
Performance during games will affect the amount of credits you get at the end of a match.
Does he mean in the future patch because as far as I'm aware it currently doesn't. Am I wrong?
Heroes that are locked at launch will only be unlocked with credits, not crystals. The heroes, similar to the locked weapons for Troopers, are sidegrades instead of upgrades (Darth Vader should be on similar power level as Darth Maul, etc). The goal is to keep you playing for a long time and have something cool to look forward to as you earn credits.
Literally no one complained about them being locked behind crystals. That would make it a tiny bit shittier but the main complaint is having to play an obscene amount of hours, all while spending your credits on nothing else, in order to unlock one hero.
Speaking of earning credits, we're constantly evaluating and tweaking the earn rates versus the cost of crates and heroes. The current rates were based on open beta data, but you should expect us to constantly evolve these numbers as we hit launch and onwards. There will also be more milestones that award credits and crafting parts available, as well as star cards only unlockable through those milestones. If all you want to do is play and grind towards your next unlock that will be fully possible and we'll continue to tweak the numbers until the requirements feel fun and achievable.
The last time they said this they basically doubled prices so I wouldn't hold my breath.
Working on a game with a live economy and without a premium content lineup is a new challenge for us at DICE.
And this is the crux of the problem. They are trying to supplant their season pass scheme with a freemium model, which means that model has to be at least as annoying/coaxing enough to get people to part with their cash as Premium was in Battlefield. "We want people to have something to look forward to" is nonsense. The game is built to be spectacularly grindy because they want people to give in and buy their loot crates, which is evident by the horrifically lopsided time to money spent ratio. It's a shame, the game is fine from what I played in beta but this model is absolutely horrendous. I don't mind a grind, some of my favorite games have grind elements to them, but the brazen disrespect for my limited free time goes beyond the pale in this case. If serious changes aren't made I'm not buying it.
I'm hoping I'm not the only that feels this way because from what I've seen I am, but I feel like one of the biggest issues with this game are the players. I don't know if I'm just having hilariously bad luck with teams lately but it seems literally no one wants to actually play as a team. No one listens to the most obvious way of playing (like, guaranteed a win if you play this way). Galactic Assault as a game mode honestly doesn't seem like it works because unless you get a team that actually pulls their fucking finger out and stops making shitty fucking Star Wars memes in the game chat it's pretty much a pure luck of the draw situation. It doesn't help that this seems to be complemented by other issues like hilariously bad team balancing, poor netcode (compared to the beta, anyway) and shit map design. I'd rather just play Blast because then at least it's easy but it's dead. [editline]13th November 2017[/editline] Galactic Assault could not be fucking easier but no one plays logically and just runs in, how hard is it?
I honestly hope if enough "gaming news" outlets kick up a stink about the lootboxes they'll revamp the system.

I'm personally holding off and just taking the free daily log in crates instead of using up all my time
Where's Tarkin?
Yeah, Tarkin is quite the badass in the Disney Canon, it'd be interesting to see how they'd tie his abilities into his past
I honestly hope if enough "gaming news" outlets kick up a stink about the lootboxes they'll revamp the system.
They wont change shit.
EA aren't going to change a thing. Hardcore fans will buy anything with Star Wars printed on it. That's the audience they want. They are expecting some people to get fed up and stop playing, it's in their market research. They want to hold on to the whales, the people that will spend as much money as possible no matter how obvious it is that this game is rigged against the player.
They wont change shit.
They already have though because of the press. [editline]13th November 2017[/editline] They’ll never get rid of the boxes, that is like a core part of the game. But they did change how progression worked because of the negative press.
EA broke the record for the most downvoted comment on Reddit, they're currently sitting at almost 250k downvotes. There's no way they can't address this issue I feel like
I honestly hope if enough "gaming news" outlets kick up a stink about the lootboxes they'll revamp the system.
Yeah they honestly need to if they want this game to have a decent life span like they keep saying they want it to since they aren't doing the season pass. I mean look at games like R6:S people thought it wasn't going to get as far as it did and once the Devs saw the community was indeed behind them they have somewhat been listening to the community and fixing things that game has brought Ubisoft around in A LOT of peoples eyes and Siege changed the way some Devs look at DLCs or (Seasons) so if the Devs keep to their word and look into the issues and fix them it can work. But this is EA and I doubt it'd happen as well.
Sledgehammer no longer has his Community Manager Job in his twitter bio. Guessing he may have been let go after his twitter tantrum.
Sledgehammer no longer has his Community Manager Job in his twitter bio. Guessing he may have been let go after his twitter tantrum.
That or he doesn't want any more death threats thrown his way and is ducking out till he hopes it blows over
