Story spoilers. [sp]Really dislike how the story turned out, barely Imperial through a quarter of the game [/sp]
It's probably bad that [sp]I'm more upset over the campaign than the microtransactions, like, by a lot[/sp] [sp]I got the feeling that by the time I got my hands on the game the grind would probably have been lessened to the point where the game is perfectly playable without paying for crates but I'm actually kinda crushed that they did the stupid safe-mode 'twist' and after the entire ad campaign hyped up the fresh empire campaign it's yet another fucking "we, the rebels, have to stop the empire from destroying [planet] in a climactic space battle!!"[/sp] [sp]Honestly not sure if I'm buying anymore and it's probably kind of hilarious that it's because of the story, not the satan-tier microtransactions[/sp]
So basically not only multiplayer progression in this game is very questionable at best and also you don't have immediate access to several features, but the single player campaign plays its premise incredibly safe and doesn't feature and odd and interesting turns. Yeah I think I'll pass, thank you very much
Clearly the Last Jedi return of Iden Versio™ will have the twists and turns we need
Clearly the Last Jedi return of Iden Versio™ will have the twists and turns we need
[sp]I heard someone suggest that Iden and love interest could be Rey's parents and if that were the case I might actually self destruct from pure unbridled disappointment[/sp]
Campaign spoilers. [sp]The defection disappointed me, but I still liked the campaign. Lando and Shriv probably helped. Like it's not what I wanted at all but I still like it. [/sp]
Campaign was fun, but yeah... [SP] Writer from Spec Ops: The Line my ass. Not that the story was bad, it was just predictable and as others have mentioned, safe. We can't ever be "the bad guys who actually believe we are the good guys" for more than 5 minutes before we switch to the Rebellion. The whole time I was hoping inferno squad was just playing the long game to try and infiltrate the Rebellion. But no, genuine defection. Again. *sigh* Otherwise there were some neat things. It was cool to see Operation Cinder and the Battle of Jakku brought to life [/SP]
[sp] Iden defects?[/sp] Well that's the nail in the coffin for me. Not buying.
I'm really glad I found the beta super boring, otherwise I'd be pretty upset if I was excited for the game
I'm really glad I found the beta super boring, otherwise I'd be pretty upset if I was excited for the game
I'm the opposite - I enjoyed the beta a lot and was looking forward to playing the game once it's out for singleplayer and blasting droids with a minigun.
[sp] Iden defects?[/sp] Well that's the nail in the coffin for me. Not buying.
Saw this coming ever since it was revealed tbh
I wonder what EA could do now. If they remove the loot crates, then the season pass probably would have to be reinstated and DLC would have to cost money again (another major shitstorm would ensue). If they rework the loot crates to only include cosmetics (given that they are implemented), it wouldn't cover the cost of development. I, for one, don't really care about the loot boxes. One could argue that the battlepacks in battlefield worked the same way as you could get IR sights and what not.
They won't rebuild the progression system. I assume they've already made a budget plan waaay back and if a change to the game could potentially affect that budget significantly in a negative way, it's simply scrapped. As long as people are buying, EA will keep on selling.
Not really surprising the story goes the way it does [sp]Considering if they were at Jakku, they probably would have gotten pasted by the full strength resistance[/sp]
I kind of want to play the story, but only because characters from the OT might show up. I've been in a Star Wars mood for the past month, just like 2 years ago when TFA was coming out. I guess that's basically the plan? Bombard fans with ads about Star Wars until you spend all your money and get sick of it

Bombard fans with ads about Star Wars until you spend all your money and get sick of it
I've been in Star Wars mood for a couple of months now, ever since I watched the chinese bootleg Episode 3 and played Lego SW3 with a friend through Parsec. Watched Clone Wars TV show and Rebels, and then SWBF2 beta came out, but I think I might just watch the story playthrough on YouTube instead. I really don't feel like buying the game anymore, only maybe if they do some drastic changes to crates, which I doubt..
I was really hoping this would be good but between the MP lootboxes and [sp]predictable story[/sp], I said fuck it, just gonna watch the campaign on Youtube. For aynone who wants a thorough "watch through" without commentary and the important gameplay parts
Wow Luke's VA sounds nothing like him
I'm having fun with Galactic Assault, and watching a sibling go through story. I love how the Droids comment on almost everything; I don't remember the exact line, but I had battle chatter where they didn't know who Darth Vader was, but were glad for the assistance anyway.
[sp]The fucking "Iden and Del defect to the Rebels" thing wouldn't even be as bad if it didn't come so early into the story. Like there's three whole missions where you play as part of the Empire and then "whoops, looks like they're fucking up my homeworld (I called this back when that one trailer came out), it's time to go join the good guys!" It just feels like a cheap copout to have them turn over so early, especially since most other EU material hasn't had any problem with giving us a view from the villain's perspective. Shriv and Lando were best boys though, I'll give them that. Other than that I'm not regretting cancelling my preorder after seeing how the campaign turned out.[/sp]
Not really surprising that the entire [sp]Advertising campaign is almost entirely false[/sp]
Not really surprising that the entire [sp]Advertising campaign is almost entirely false[/sp]
lawsuit time?
lawsuit time?
When it comes to [sp]campiagn? No, this is just an MGS2 twist except shittily done. There's also footage in the trailers that might come round till the DLC[/sp]
IIRC wasn't the story written by the guy who did spec ops: the line? Does any of that come through or is this the same safe boring plot you get in anything DICE have made since bad company.
Yeah it was co-written by him. Also the SP wasn't made by DICE.
Yeah it was co-written by him. Also the SP wasn't made by DICE.
I assumed DICE made it considering how completely underwhelming it is.
I wonder if Disney is having second thoughts about giving EA exclusivity because surely somebody there must be noticing the bad publicity SW:BF2 is getting.
I wonder if Disney is having second thoughts about giving EA exclusivity because surely somebody there must be noticing the bad publicity SW:BF2 is getting.
I think they'll stop caring when the game inevitably makes them a fuckjillion dollars.
It was made by EA Motive, if I recall, the team that was supposed to help Visceral make their SP Star Wars game, but got called away to make Battlefront storymode after the first one got bitched out for not having one.
I just want lootboxes to be legally classified as gambling so they can go the fuck away. [editline]14th November 2017[/editline]
It was made by EA Motive, if I recall, the team that was supposed to help Visceral make their SP Star Wars game, but got called away to make Battlefront storymode after the first one got bitched out for not having one.
Yeah, Motive that's it.
I like the original Battlefront 2 campaign better, [sp]From the Battle of Geonosis you are a normal Clone fighting the Seppies, then you take part in order 66 and become an Imperial Stormtrooper loyal to the Empire, and it ends with The Empire Strikes Back on Hoth[/sp]
