Just got the game, going to try it out tonight. If online is anything like reddit suggests, I should be crying for mommy first round in
The campaign stuff is even more hilarious to me because Disney have actually been WANTING people to take more risks with SW.
Garth Edwards was afraid he wouldn't get his [sp]"everyone[ dies at the end" ending[/sp] so he wrote a safer ending. But then Disney said nah just go for it man, it's fine. This is also the same film were at most you see 1 lightsaber right at the end.
Hopefully 5 years from now Disney wise up and just re-open LucasArts or an equivalent publisher/studio
We've even had various novels and comicbooks exploring things from the villains' perspective in SW. It has and can be done,[sp]which makes Battlefront's campaign balking out so quickly hurt more for me.[/sp]
Has there ever been a storyline with [sp]the opposite situation? I mean, where a rebel has defected to the empire? (a grunt I mean, not Anakin etc.)[/sp] That would’ve been interesting otherwise

I can't think of any character that's outright gone [sp]from the Rebellion over to the Empire. Closest thing I can think of is Saw Gerrera and his Partisans splitting from the Alliance because of their extreme actions, and even then they're still fighting against the Empire.[/sp]
I don't even know if I have a problem with [sp]ending up fighting stormtroopers. What gets me is that the way they pull it off is just this 1-100 generic good guy turn where you go from conflicted and concerned about the way things are going to literally wearing a rebel uniform and cracking wise while you shoot up stormtroopers and pal around with the movie characters in the span of two damn missions. If they did something like there being a schism in the Empire with you fighting imps and rebels as part of the Empire falling apart, that would've been cool! Or heck, taking the Empire-is-dead-to-me stuff a lot slower would've been significant improvement, at least. I think there's a really cool idea in a loyal 'good' imperial soldier becoming disillusioned as they realize just how much of a bastard Sheev really was, but it's played in this way I can't help but feel disappointed by.[/sp]

[sp] she literally goes from "I love the empire" to "WTF I HATE THE EMPIRE NOW??" in the space of like 10 minutes [/sp]

[sp]Rouge Squadron 3 had Sarkli, he was a Rogue Squadron pilot who defected to the Empire[/sp]
Give us back that Darth Maul game they cancelled. You could actually slice dudes apart in it. Too bad EA would find a way to fuck it up though.

They'd probably hide the slicing people in half behind loot boxes, e.g. you cut a guy in half and the game pauses to then give you 1 loot box and you open it to see which half of the body goes flying
You can't earn credits in Arcade if you're disconnected from the internet

Apparently the Danish Police are giving advice on how to avoid being scammed, and Battlefront 2 :v:

That isn't the only thing happening here, but some Media outlets are starting to accuse both EA and Disney of encouraging underage gambling and players are trying to get more to do so.

Hahaha these are actually pretty great. [sp]"Somewhere Qui-Gon Jin is laughing."[/sp]
Also I do like the various voicelines heroes have for encountering each other, especially for reacting to heroes from different eras.
Is anyone else a bit confused at the "great plan" that is Operation Cinder? [sp]like I understand it's about fear and all that crap but like... Attacking planets you own, planets that are already on your side, like the Empire is an evil authoritarian government don't get me wrong and are wholly evil, but like, this is borderline stupid evil, Like I could understand attacking neutral targets or getting rid of resources that the rebels might try to claim, or even attacking Imperial worlds that may very well just be rebel sympathizers with scorched Earth tactics, but they attack a known imperial planet for no reason other than "Let's attack planets we already own to spread fear!"[/sp]
It just screams stupid writing [sp]just to get the protagonist on the side of the rebels[/sp]

[sp]The point of Cinder wasn't just to spread fear, but to also destroy the Empire. Palpatine believed that if the Empire couldn't protect him, it didn't deserve to exist[/sp]
[sp]The point of Cinder was also to destroy the Empire. Palpatine believed that if the Empire couldn't protect him, it didn't deserve to exist[/sp]
Honestly that also feels sort of nonsense[sp], I doubt the Emperor would have planned for his demise, he was far to egotistical in that respect.[/sp]
Like the entire thing just turns the Empire from evil to "We are straight up mirror universe star trek levels of stupid evil"

Here is an article on it. It contains Battlefront 2 spoilers now.

I know that's the canon reason but it's still stupid, [sp]the fact the Emperor even thought he might die is silly, he was entirely engrossed in his victory.[/sp]
Operation Cinder was also part of a larger Contingency Plan

It's just dawned on me, one of the new locations getting visited in The Last Jedi is essentially a casino planet for rich arseholes. Imagine the extra backlash for Disney if the newest Star Wars film treats gambling as bad whilst Battlefront II is accused of promoting gambling to children. :v:
Casino planet??? Are we seeing nar shadaa??
Nope, it's a brand new planet.

Palpatine always had contingencies for if he died, even in old EU canon (which was canon until Disney took over) - He had an entire project devoted to cloning himself just in case.
I don't even really see why any of the higher ranking Imperials went through with that plan, honestly it doesn't benefit them in the slightest.
Like, Star Wars was honestly just basic black and white morality, with greys in the middle, but this is on another level of stupid evil.

Yeah and I thought that was stupid then as well, but at least that was more of a backup plan so he could technically avoid death with his force fuckery if he did happen to fall down the stairs or something.
I always thought Operation Cinder was [sp]more about a scorched earth sort of deal. Like Palpatine understood that if the rebels somehow ended up killing him, that was the end and the Empire had failed. Being an evil bastard though, he'd much rather destroy everything than have the New Republic make use of any remaining infrastructure.
It's like he just went "well every planet will surrender at some point so we may as well see them as enemies now, and as enemies, they have high value targets that are much more accessible than rebel stronghold planets."
The stuff in the game about 'causing fear to retain control' makes pretty much no sense unless they pinned the attacks on the rebels so it's probably just a quick propaganda justification for the troops.[/sp]

Nar Shadaa wasn't a casino planet, just space Hong Kong meets Lawless Hellhole.

I still love it. It's my favorite SWTOR planet.

The problem with that is[sp], I really don''t think it was at all in the Empires best interests, like the Empire is run by a bunch of self serving assholes, don't get me wrong, but not brain dead retards, like I understand it's a plan designed to fuck them, but like, why would anyone have seen it through, like I could honestly see the plan working if it was used on planets with valuable resources as a last act of defiance in the eyes of the new republic after the Empire put everything it had into defeating them, or they use the satellites to attack planets that are neutral to take control of them for the war effort, or hell, even attack rebel planets as a fuck you.
But they start it off right away and they also weaken themselves by scorching there own planets, like, did the Empire not think in the large scheme of things that attacking allies will only bolster the rebellion even more so than it already is?[/sp]
It just seems like poor writing on the part of the team to exasperate the situation, [sp]so as to turn our protagonist to the side of the rebels, especially it being her fucking home planet[/sp]

[sp]The end of the plan was to always retreat to the unknown regions and rebuild there, so they wouldn't be using anything left behind.[/sp]
