No, not really. The new one certainly isn't, although it would have been better if it was; Battlefield has more depth.
Damn I forgot how intimidating the droidekas are in SWBF1. Every time they pop up it's a panic-laden rush to kill them before they fully deploy
Hey Legends,
So it's been a long time coming, and your staff is very excited to be making this announcement this morning. We are very pleased to announce that on February 26, 2016, we will be launching our live server. What this means is that, we will be moving through the 'live' threshold, putting our final milestone within reach.
Just like we did with our Stress Test, we will continue to post copies of announcement threads in order to allow the community the opportunity to provide feedback and input in the "Community Discussions" forum. Please post your thoughts on announcements there, but please, keep everything constructive.
Live Server Information
Server Code is based closely on Game Update: 16.4 of SOE's Code.
Each Account is allowed four (4) character slots.
Each Account will be granted a buddy token that will grant you one level 90 character. (Combat, Trader or Entertainer)
Experience Rates will be 2.5 (Standard NGE Rate).
There will be a waiting period for certain Veteran Rewards to ensure account maturity.
Extra NPC Spawns have been added to Dathomir to assist with the initial rush for collections (This will go back to normal after the first two weeks).
Hidden Black Market Vendor has been added to allow for unobtainable items such as TCG items to be obtained by players.
Stay tuned for more information on our launch events and future bonus experience weekends.

We are active working with Galaxy Harvester and SWG: ActiveFrame (For GCW Integration) to get these services and tools up and running for the community.
We know that everyone is excited to play again and want to make sure everyone's experience is the best possible, to do this, we will be revising our server, game rules. These will be posted as the launch date looms closer. We will also follow up with a way to contact GM Staff in the event that players require ingame intervention, and semi-live support will be available via community teamspeak at ts1.swglegends.com
Although we are on course for the launch deadline, we also want to acknowledge the fact that if something game breaking occurs or arises, please leave some room for the launch date/time to be modified as needed by development.
If you have issues connecting to the server, please submit a ticket, and if you locate a bug, please report it to our bug database.
We'll see you all on the 26th!!
May The Force Be With You

I AM READY

We're gonna play the shit out of it
It seems as if they don't want to set up any sort of actual in-game economy, giving everyone an instant level 90 characters so they can just skip all the quests is not a good thing.
Also it's funny how they've taken the ProjectSWG update banner and just stuck their own logo on it.

They've done it before as well. Not only that, but they've even copied the ProjectSWG Roadmap.
Despite how much i want to play NGE SWG again, i don't think it's worth it based on what i've seen on them.
Even with a instant 90, don't you still need to get gear and all that? And it is only one 90, if they want to try another class they would need to make another character and start from scratch.
Not entirely,
remember there's a profession respec guy right next to the starport in ME. I'm actually trying to recall if there's any specific stuff you actually need later-on-down-the-road; items/quests and shit before you hit 90. I think they might have that covered, who knows. I remember originally hitting a certain level would automatically grant you a certain quest to explore X for X reason granting you blah blah blah.
I wouldn't be TOO worried about it.
The only thing I'd be worried about is finding the best resources on these planets, which there should be a large abundance of.
[editline]22nd February 2016[/editline]
also the mandalorian armor race will BEGIN
Oh right yeah, every few levels grants you a quest and some basic gear. So i guess hitting 90 will give it to you all at once.

You'd need some, but giving everyone an instant 90 is still going to have a negative effect on any sort of economy. Instead of players having to actually work on leveling up, everyone has it all done for them already. That means certain quest rewards are going to likely to be worthless as everyone can do them and there's no real question about being able to find a trader to make the items you want. Rather than selling items that are appropriate to their level as they level up, traders can just sell all the best stuff with no real reason to make anything else. Everyone can do the same thing, so there's less of a competition and that makes it partially worthless.
Considering no one has to put any effort in (beyond resource gathering), there isn't going to be a proper in-game economy based around skill or supply/demand.

The day of my birthday
being a 90 melee, can't i just punch the shit out of things? or do i need lvl 90 fighting gear to make a dent?

A-Wing: Increased hit box size
Maybe this will help.

The Ice Caves survival map is pretty. Is it a reuse of a MP map? I have not played every game mode on Hoth.
[editline]23rd February 2016[/editline]
I haven't played Twilight on Hoth but the thumbnail also looks great.

Looks like the free Endor map is going to take place after the DS2 is destroyed

a few thousand online on PC, is the thing even worth buying, even with sale prices?
A few thousand is fine considering the low player counts of the maps.

Got my fill from the beta, looks amazing, all the terrain and details in the skybox. Had beautiful music (but i found it did repeat a lot of the old trilogy, with nothing new) and the weapon sound effects sounded cool. But i found the gameplay was a bit bland and repetitive. Was annoyed you could only unlock aliens and the good Armour at high ranks (don't know if it's like this). The last battlefront (2) had more gameplay and longevity (still gets played with 500 online on steam at the moment). Plus it had the best game mode in the series, conquest. Why they removed it, who knows.
The fact that the population has dropped so low on pc only four months after release, while games like battlefield 3 and 4 are still populated years after release, should give you an idea of things to come. There is still dlc to come out yet for the game. But i don't the playerbase on pc will last for it. I feel bad for those who went ahead and bought it.
Get the game while it's on special for $20, i reckon that is worth the price.
Also does the Twilight map, take place after the battle of Hoth? I assume that the downed transport is one of the ones that didn't get away? Like the one that was destroyed by the 501st in battlefront 2.
A few thousand is fine considering the low player counts of the maps.
No it isn't. It wasn't fine for Titanfall and it's definitely not fine for a game that came out in November.

Well it is at night, while in the movie the battle was during the day. I'm going to say yes maybe?

That is optimistic as fuck.
Wait, Star Wars: "Battlefront" isn't dead and buried yet?
Count me genuinely impressed

The first dlc (not counting the free Jakku one) will probably silence its swan song on PC
A few thousand is fine considering the low player counts of the maps.
for call of duty yeah.
for a 20v20 map, no.
also, my guess is the first map pack will make or break this game. either people will feel there are enough maps (which i would think there would be) and content (if that rumor of getting offline play is true or is released sooner than later), or not.
it's a damn shame, i get that the devs wanted it to be different (i don't even mind that they clearly designed it for kids), but they really shot themselves in the foot by releasing half a game because shekels. i'm really hoping lucasfilm will cancel that 10 year nonsense.
What kind of license does EA have? Because LEGO Star Wars Episode 7 isn't related to them at all. That is Warner Bros
[editline]23rd February 2016[/editline]
Maybe it is a license to only certain types of genre, or eras or something.
i have no clue, i thought it would be specifically canon-related content, but none of what ea has released apart from uprising has any canon, and lego star wars has canon content.

... so actually tatooine now?
I don't get what you're trying to say.
[editline]23rd February 2016[/editline]
The other Tatooine maps have had Jawas, Tuskens, Sandcrawlers and a Sarlacc.
