I'm sorry, what? http://frontwirestudios.com/official-announcement-steam-distribution-deal/ [editline]4th June 2016[/editline] I can't see this going over well with LucasArts/Film
Well Valve approved it, it's free, and apparently they've changed assets. Time will tell. I could see EA/Disney removing it if players end up playing it more then their battlefront. Also http://www.gamespot.com/articles/an-update-on-star-wars-battlefront-3-fan-remake-an/1100-6439381/
None of that makes any difference, though. It doesn't matter that Valve approved it, they've approved copyright infringing games before. It being free is irrelevant to whether it's actually allowed and if it's against copyright law or not, and the assets don't make much difference as it's still using the Star Wars name and content. This isn't some sort of mod for a game or something along those lines, they're actually trying to make what's basically an entirely new star wars game without any sort of permission AND give it enough popularity to get it on Steam. If it didn't get on Steam then maybe i could see it existing for a while, but if it gets extremely popular chances are it'll be shut down.
They didn't go through Greenlight apparently which is weirder.
Is it standalone, or does it require whatever game it's a mod for?

It appears things may not be as they seem with Frontwire Studios https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/4mxfbo/frontwire_studios_behind_closed_doors/
Here's a Reddit post by the devs. All I'll say is good luck to these guys.
I don't mean to be completely negative and i'd love for the game to actually happen as much as any other Battlefront fan...but why are people 'backing' these devs exactly? From what they've shown and said it is not going to go well and based on their justification for why it's alright for them to do this, they don't know what they're doing. Part of their reasoning for it being perfectly fine to use Star Wars and copyrighted content is that they think it's a "parody" because they're supposedly including a few silly things in the game. That is not how that works at all. Something does not being a parody just because you include a few things in it that parody something, the whole overall theme of it has to be to do that, which is certainly not the case here. The purpose of the game is not to make fun of Star Wars or Battlefront, so that argument falls flat, not to mention it just feels like an extremely weak justification in the first place. I'm wondering what the 3 "fair use" reasons they say they fall under are, anyone have any ideas? Then there's the "It's fine because it's free and we aren't claiming to own it"...i don't know too much about these things but from what I've seen that's not right at all. You can't just use whatever you want and it'll be alright as long as you don't explicitly say it's yours, if that was true that would be an extremely easy way to avoid copyright laws and do whatever you wanted. Also, the quote from Disney they included is about what Disney can do with fan-made content, it's not anything to do with what that fan-made content can actually be of. Does this look like something you'd expect to be a success, if this is the sort of thing they feel confident enough to show and get more attention with? Why would they even show/announce this so early in development? It's just a collection of random incomplete assets with some slight functionality, it's even worse as it seems quite a lot of those assets they didn't even do themselves. They should have waited until there was something more substantial to show. It's also odd how they also say this on their site, if they were just entirely committed to this project then i expect this part wouldn't have been included:
In addition to GiT, we’re also working on our own Mobile game as well as a brand new AAA title that has yet to be announced.
There's this as well: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2016/06/06/legal-expert-warns-of-trouble-for-unlicensed-star-wars-battlefront-successor.aspx Again i hope it is a success just like many others do, but i don't have any confidence in it at all.

The word parody doesn't only mean making fun of something. Also, if galaxy in turmoil is using free radical bf3 assets, then that's perfectly fine since A) it's abandonware, this is why we're able to have swg emulation B) free radical, and for the matter, lucasarts, under which the game was produced, does not exist anymore. Now, if galaxy in turmoil was using assets from a game that is commercially available, then it would be not legal. On top of all that, the dudes who leaked out that xbox copy are the ones that should be in hot water, if anything.
I find it weird how hostile people are towards them. Yeah, it's kind of a dumb move, but Disney isn't a bunch of angels either. I don't mind seeing the king of riding IPs into the ground get some comeuppance.
Cloud City Expansion info [t]https://media.starwars.ea.com/content/starwars-ea-com/en_US/starwars/battlefront/_jcr_content/components/hero/backgroundImageSet/wide.img.jpg[/t] http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/news/bespin-key-art-reveal Dangar and Lando are the new heroes. New weapons include the X-8 Night Sniper, the EE-4 the X-8 Night Sniper is the blaster pistol seen on the page, Lando used it in Star Wars Rebels Google gives me nothing about the EE-4. The Expansion will have the largest Fighter Squadron map to date
Two hunters left, i wonder who the death star villain will be
My guess is the next heroes will be Grand Moff Tarkin and Obi-Wan. Just the first thoughts that came to mind about what characters would come with a Death Star pack.
I think the Death Star will probably be based off the DS2.
The one I'd really want is IG-88, just I guessed Tarkin because Greedo somehow managed to get on the roster so I figure anyone who at least showed up could get in.
I think the Death Star will probably be based off the DS2.
they would be foolish not to have maps based around both death stars.
they would be foolish not to have maps based around both death stars.
To be fair, if shown 2 interior maps would be be able to tell the difference.

the guy said there would be characters from 1-6 as well, i hope there's jar jar. blaster battles are looking real cool.
It will probably be like the Avengers game. While the Story was focused on the 3 films, they had characters from out side the movies.
Couple things I noticed, Repsawn's game will have lightsabers, EA Battlefront's Death Star DLC has a trench run, or at least a map that takes place above the trench The Bespin DLC has Bespin themed rebels outfits That hallways where Luke and Vader fought is there [editline]12th June 2016[/editline] [t]https://images-2.discordapp.net/eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2kuaW1ndXIuY29tL3VoTHFaWFEucG5nIn0.SlNuiE5uiFkB7ES6n9rZwCmozrU.png[/t]

Thats all it took to hype me up, please don't fuck it up guys.

I guess that mos eisley rpg that, iirc obsidian pitched, is being done by visceral?

I don't think so, I think it is just a shooting range some sort of testing map

I believe Respawn's is third person, that was mentioned a few months ago in a press release.
That X-Wing VR seen in the EA video is a real thing, it is for PlayStation VR, Battlefront - X-Wing VR Mission or something. "mission" singular, so probably a SP mission. [editline]13th June 2016[/editline] Lego Force Awakens demo on the PS4, comes out tomorrow on XB1 3:00 p.m. PT, doesn't look like there will be a PC demo.
I don't think it said PSVR exclusive. I think we'll see it come to PC.
