I keep reading SWG as "SWAG"

2 Suns, 1 shadow
I think SWTOR has the same problem. And no, they're not close enough together to only cast one shadow.
[editline]9th January 2016[/editline]
I think the movies had the same problem too :v:
I actually don't recall.
If the suns are always grouped that closely together, it would just be one shadow though. It'd just be a more narrow shadow.

If two light bulbs next to each other can cast two shadows on the environment, two suns would as well.
So I just made my char, name is Kyle Achrattea. How do I join the Empire? Do I have to wait till the normal server is up?
I'd wait till the normal servers are up.
[editline]9th January 2016[/editline]
So in case anyone was wondering, Their main server crashed yesterday and they are trying to figure out fixes now.
Just play on FFA servers with force disabled. It's annoying anyway. Makes light saber fights actual light saber fights
Force Master on a pit duel map is the true way to play JA.
An average round lasts about 3 seconds and the winner is determined by who uses force drain first
Also do yourselves a favor and don't read Reborns forums except for announcements and news. Their members have to be some of the most toxic, bitchy, whining man-children I've seen.
I really want to get into SWG, are there any decent tutorials on how the game works?

it's like a "let's play" but the guy explains things as he goes on
just be prepared for some boredom though, LPs aren't too enticing these days.
SWG looks like what The Old Republic should have been. Can I also join you guys? I've never played SWG but the amount of stuff and actual open world it has, I would love to give a real Star Wars mmo a try. Other than the guide posted above to install or get the game, is there anything else I'd need?

Just get the game and follow the guide, you are all set.
The SWG Character select/creation music makes me hard with nostalgia
Making money in SWGEmu is a bit different from how it was in SWG, because it still has a pretty small population. Most crafters either collect their resources themselves or buy them in massive quantities off several players who've monopolized the industry and use the general lack of competition to set up gathering facilities everywhere. Personally, I've found most of my early-game money just doing quests slowly and shittily.
Probably gonna be a while before I can afford SWG, but I'll totally join in whenever I do.

It's actually not that bad, I have quite a bit of fun when I play. It's a good game, just not a good Battlefront game, if that makes any sense. The small-scale fighting is really good and intense, Blast and Drop Zone are pretty hectic, but sometimes you'll be in a Walker Assault match getting steamrolled by guys cheesing shit like homing shot and think the game is poop. A handful of guys are always going to be cheesing as hard as they can, but it isn't a big deal. Get a whole team jetpack/bowcastering the fuck out of you and it stops being fun very quickly.
Any idea what to do about the "Direct3d could not be correctly initialized" when launching SWG through the emulator?
got myself acquainted with all the tutorials and junk, but now that I'm trying to run multiplayer it slowly whittles the search down 5% at a time until it creates a new room just for me, in any gamemode. I heard there were server issues over christmas, that still a thing?
Homing shot in Battlefront is probably the cheapest thing. That should have been a pick-up item, not a card that you can play every twenty seconds or so.
Would've much better than that useless bubble shield pickup for sure.
Is anyone else getting the SWG installer crashes? I run the setup or installer and it crashes regardless of compatibility.

I've hardly ever been killed by homing shot though, just hide behind a rock haha
Then again the people using it might have been total shit. It is impossible to avoid in the open, even if you jetpack a second before it arrives

they have some turn rate restrictions, so if you can manage to loop them around you they usually hit the ground.
[editline]10th January 2016[/editline]
which is not easy to do since they tend to just go straight at you.

The homing shot never gives up.
I managed to juke one out once, jumped out of the way right in time. It went past me, LOOPED ALL THE WAY AROUND, and came at me for a second pass. The whole time I was going, "ohshitohshitohshit," I had no idea that motherfucker would make a huge ass turn just to come get me again.
It was a cool moment, but still complete bullshit.

I'm not sure if something is up with servers for specific gamemodes or what right now. I think there's still issues. I can't find any supremacy games at all, and rarely walker assault. The only gamemodes I can consistently find games in are blast and fighter squadron.
So, the SWGReborn server is being worked on right now apparently. So the server should be back up eventually...
If and when it comes back up, Vosk and I were thinking about Guild Names. We'll need to level up and get money before we can make a guild with a guild hall and such, but we hoped for suggestions.
We can either go generic like make it FPSWG or make it more in-universe. Guilds can be both Imperial and Rebel, so we don't need to worry about forcing anyone into one or the other.
[editline]10th January 2016[/editline]
Oh, and Vosk asked me to repost this:

If any of you are still interested in joining us up and playing SWG, the group should be open. And we can also discuss ways to get the game if you don't already have it.
I still cannot get the installer for SWG to work. Everytime i run it, it crashes on me. Anyone else have this problem
Flashbang is seriously awesome in Battlefront. I've been playing mainly HvV and found that flashbang -> imploder (or any explosive powerup you have) -> explosive shot with DL44 just murders heroes. I killed both Han and Luke when they were at about half health each with that combo. Han was shooting the wall and Luke used up his entire block before the effect wore off. So much more fun than jumpcaster.
Also chasing fleeing heroes as Boba Fett is amusing. When I see one low on health take off, I jetpack up and follow them and drop on top of them for the kill.
Anyone have any idea why BF 3 Blue screens me while Downloading? I have a disk copy so I might use that but inserting different disks is annoying and I'm lazy as shit.
I've always found that if you run so the shot is perpendicular to you and jump as it's about to hit you, it actually misses. I've had a fairly decent success rate with that.
boy, you guys weren't kidding with the downloader taking forever
i'm just hitting resource 40 out of 255
