I felt like playing something retro so I just ordered a used copy of Rogue Squadron (N64) for the proper ~authentic~ experience. Screw emulators. It feels good to buy a physical N64 game for the first time since forever. I'm a bit sad it doesn't have multiplayer but it still looks like a good time.
Rogue Squadron is one of the best Star Wars games.
Rogue Squadron is one of the best Star Wars games.
I've heard some people give it shit for being kinda arcadey compared to the X-Wing series, but I honestly enjoy that sort of casual play. Sadly I didn't get to play any entry past the very first one.

I judge all Star Wars flying games by TIE Fighter which is an unfair standard for any game.
I just started Knights of the Old Republic. Is there anything important I should know to get the most out of this game?
I just started Knights of the Old Republic. The way they handled roll I always found really awkward and wished they would stop with the auto roll thing, or have figured out a more elegant way to do the auto-roll.
I'm still waiting for bioware to stop dragging their feet and release the Sarlacc Enforcer DLC already. I've been waiting 7 years for this.

I know it's long, I know it's boring, I know it houses several, nasty difficulty spikes, but the game gets better paced after it and you are immediately (more or less) given the option to travel to the various planets in the order you prefer 2) Even if you are going for one of yer olde RPGs skilled-based characters (as to say, characters who exchange power in combat for outside combat skills like diplomacy), you should take care to build him with some kind of combat proficency too. There are many instances in the game where you are forced into challenging mandatory fights, and the endgame (especially the final boss) will eat you alive if you forsake combat upgrades altogether. On the same note, strenght is basically the best stat in the whole game regardless of the kind of character you are building, so always strive to increase it by any means necessary 3) Speaking of balance once again, Jedi characters and their lightsabers are basically where the game is at. Characters and NPCS relaying on blasters become more and more obsolete as the game progresses, so always be sure to bring, at the very least, another Jedi with you, if not two altogether
I never understood why people said Taris is boring. I thought it was great.
I never understood why people said Taris is boring. I thought it was great.
From TV Tropes
Taris is loathed by many due to being a Marathon Level. The level involves spending a huge amount of time running around many areas (including the Uppercity, Lowercity, Undercity and its sewers, as well as the Black Vulkar base) to track down Bastila. Later, you need to break into a Sith base and infiltrate Davik's estate to steal the Ebon Hawk so you could get off Taris. Eventually it is followed by a mandatory gun turret mini-game. Due to the low level cap (20) in the first game, many players prefer saving the levels of their character at this point so they could gain more level as a Jedi later on, which makes completing Taris even more difficult.
It's also worth mentioning that Taris also starts to drop subtle hints that, as I mentioned above, there are really some instances that can only end in violence and that you either wield a lightsaber or you'll spend the majority of any given fight trying to whack or shoot people and missing like half the time
So... how are you supposed to get the contracts completed if there are dead gamemodes?
So... how are you supposed to get the contracts completed if there are dead gamemodes?
There are no dead gamemodes if you play at peak times. Useful website for that checking that

The game even thinks you beat it. Actually hearing everyone talk about Kotor has made me want to get back into it and beat it again haha does anyone have any recommended mods?
Clone wars era has so much more potential than OT for a battlefront game. Yes the movies were worse (even though most of the cartoon is spectacular) Republic VS CIS droid armies Republic VS variable seperatist meatbags (Like Umbarans, Neomodians ETC) can I just mention how amazing Umbara would look if we went for photorealism? Mandalorians VS Mandalorians. For that Symmetrical warfare. Plus stuff like Create your own heroes because, y'know, there are a reasonable amount of jedi, and mandolorians custom their gear. And of course, a lot more heroes to draw from. Sideous, Maul, Savage,Dooku,Ventress, Grevious, Anakin, Vizla, Jango. Commandos,ARC troopers, Every Jedi. Krell, Those various colourful bounty hunters. I know the OT has a lot of heroes, but they don't really feel as if they're heroes. Han Solo is not a frontline fighter, he's equiped with a pistol and he's wearing a shirt. Best you can do for OT erra is include rebels characters as heroes.

I was playing at peak yesterday, three people were playing Sabotage, including me
There are no dead gamemodes if you play at peak times. Useful website for that checking that
That doesn't tell me what modes are being played, this is why matchmaking is cancer and server browsers need to make a full return.

I went into it wanting to play a soldier class and use blasters and be all cool and then the game just kind of hands you a lightsaber and says WELP YOU'RE A JEDI NOW BLASTERS ARE USELESS :)))))))))

Last time I played, I just used a pistol.
Why would I pick a blaster hero over a Jedi? The only reason I have played them has been for contracts. Also? No Obi Wan? Really? Not even on the Death Star DLC
Given that he got rekt early in A New Hope, having him as a playable character would be kind of odd really.
Given that he got rekt early in A New Hope, having him as a playable character would be kind of odd really.
Greedo says hi
Ah yes, everyone's favourite character, Dengar??? Why not IG88? You could have done a bunch of cool droid shit, not just Han but with a less interesting ability. At least Bossk has unique moves, but it should have been Tarkin. I don't care if he's not the combat type, he could have had sick commander abilities. You know... like Krennic
But then you couldn't get Simon Pegg to voice Dengar again.
his voice doesn't fit the character anyway.
Greedo says hi
Oh fuk

I would like to see a bunch of cool shit added and mixed in with the OT stuff and just have a mode for people who want things to be movie accurate as well. I don't mean completely nonsensical shit mind you, but I'd like it if a new game added cool shit that fits despite breaking lore/timeframe.
his voice doesn't fit the character anyway.
But he never spoke in the original films.
Oh yeah, I also ordered a used copy of the original Battlefront for PS2. I've always regretted selling it long ago and felt like reliving my childhood. First reaction when playing it - I can't see shit and damn the auto aim is generous.

How many shooting games have that kind of thing? None. You're either fighting enemies under chest high walls, bullet sponges, or everything is really fast. Also, yeah, BF2's auto aim is too generous, especially when we all know that nobody's supposed to be able to shoot for shit.
