Well they still have the same names as well.
no reloading,
Watching some more gameplay and comments from people who actually played it, there is a psudo 'reload' system.
You have an overheat bar, if you hit R any time before it fills up, it will empty and you'll be unable to shoot for a little bit as it empties. It does auto cooldown, but it is slower then the first game, and it takes a bit of time after firing for it to actually start. The time it takes appears to be based on the weapon type.
If it fills up all the way you will overheat like the first game, as the bar empties there are colours spots on the bar, IIRC Yellow and green? The yellow area is bigger then then green. If you hit R in the yellow area you cool down instantly, if you hit R in the much smaller green area, you cool down instantly, and also get a few seconds of overheat immunity.

I like that classes are coming back, and I like that you can customize the class itself a little bit.
I hate how there's rarity with the customizations, though. Assault Training. Common is 20 health every time you get a kill, but the purple rare is 30 health. Or a 20 second cooldown vs 16 with rare. Or something that disables enemy's weapons at a range of 16 meters, vs 20 meters with the rare version.
Not THAT big of a deal, but this shit is going to be in loot boxes you buy.
That's fucked up, to me. You should never be able to buy your way to more powerful equipment
The devs keep saying it isn't P2W. And they've released very little info on how the lootboxes work. I'd just wait until there is a full news/blog post on it.
Now I wonder, if you play as a Death Trooper, will you be able to understand other Death Trooper's comm chatter? According to the lore that noise you hear from them is just encrypted audio, they're not speaking weirdly.
Saw this image on reddit, they've improved some of the models from the last game as well.

I will be severely disappointed if The Impossible dream isn't the theme of Count Dooku in BF2#2.
what is this "the Impossible dream"?
what is this "the Impossible dream"?
Christopher lee published 3 heavy metal opera albums before he died. The impossible dream was his most favored song of the bunch

I'm glad to see the models are getting an update... I wasn't sure how many assets would be re-used, especially for heroes.
It's super clear that all the animations are copy pasted from BF1 with a few new additions.

I wouldn't mind if they reused all the previous assets from the maps and refurbished them for BF2. If there's anything I'd be more than happy to keep from BF1 it's all those environment assets, those were done perfectly.
Sometimes for assets to be reused it can be annoying and makes you wonder what else they got lazy with, but in this instance, it's perfectly acceptable as long as they update them where they're needed, because as said about they were done perfectly.
I think some of the assets are highly likely to be reused. I definitely think they'll have kept the same models for things like guns, some environment objects (particularly on planets like Hoth and Endor) and Stormtrooper armour. That said, I'm glad they've changed the human hero models because for the most part they barely resembled the source material. Especially Han. And if Chewbacca is in the game, that shot of the Wookie on Kashyyyk is a good indicator that they've improved on his model too.
I'm the one who made that comparison image. I love the improvements they've made. At least now you can kiiinda see who it is. But yeah I'm totally fine with a lot of models (like the AT-ATs which I pointed out a few weeks back) being reused. They already look amazing.
If some assets still look good there's no reason to update them. That's just a waste of man-hours.
I'd rather them add space to ground than remodel the ATAT multiple times

The people who make the models are not the same people who would have made that.
There's absolutely no need for them to remodel any of the vehicles or weapons. IIRC, didn't they scan in the original props? So, they're as authentic as they'll ever be. No, I agree. Better to spend that time improving on the gameplay, which it looks like they're doing.
They probably still have those original scans, so they can just start from there again.
The people working on the models are not the same people doing the game play. Most of the time.

But why start over if they look good? Better to spend time making other models that haven't been made yet instead.
But they're not starting over.
I wasn't saying they should remake everything. Photogrammetry of the original props from the movies make it kind of pointless to make a new one. You can't really get more accurate than that.
But for faces on the heroes (which I assume are not taken by getting all these huge actors into a photo shoot...), I'm glad they've made improvements.
It looks better then the last Battlefront but this new Battlefront I still does not look as good as Battlefront 2. I played Battlefront 2015 in the free weekend and even with all the updates and DLC the game is still really shit.
Even if the original models were based off photogrammetry, it still requires an artist to go over and retopologize and UV the mesh and project those textures onto the UVs. The better hardware supplied by consoles allows the artists to go back and and further detail into the models and supply higher resolution textures, it's not a case of 'it was photogrammetry, it's as good as it's getting'. That said, I'd just like to clarify that I do not want them wasting time on refurbishing many (if any)BF1 meshes, as I think they've nailed it to a point that it would hold up in BF2 easily. I just thought it might be worth clarifying as some of the replies can read a bit like 'photogrammetry is best, nothing better'.

Compared to what was Shown of Battlefront 3, i really don't think it's going to be good enough even if it is a big improvement over the previous game:

It doesn't even seem like it'll reach the same level as the original Battlefront 2 did with some of the features.
I don't think the old BF3 would work with the quality DICE is going for.
I don't think the old BF3 would work with the quality DICE is going for.
What sort of thing do you think wouldn't work?
Well the level of detail for one.
The fact that the old BF3 didn't have a problem with players just suddenly disappearing into a space ship that takes off and flies around before landing in a ship with the player 'getting out' by popping in out of nowhere.
If you were to DICE-ify that, you'd have to deal with climbing in/out animations, as well as a whole bunch of other stuff that would detract from the whole BF3 experience like landing gear. The level of detail they aim for in the game would conflict with the gameplay mechanics of the old BF3, and I don't see them doing it unfortunately, hence why we have to deal with tokens in BF1. I'd opt for BF3 mechanics (I'm really hoping that the next DICE BF3 has those classic space battles like in old BF, which was one of the biggest highlights of the series for me)
EDIT:
To add in those extra mechanics it'd also require them to reassess their entire map design, making sure that there were areas for ships to land and take off.
whats interesting is Last year's E3, they showed an animation of a Parked X-Wing with a pilot getting out (or was it in?)
Mind you that was during the Motive Studios part, so it could be for SP.
BF2 will not have a server browser

A moderator somewhere in the thread confirms it.
Fucking why
Fucking why
Someone suggested it's to ensure the game dies when a sequel comes out so people buy the new one. Seems about right.
