Okay, I launch the game today and suddenly it's running at a playable framerate at low settings where as before it was totally unplayable, did they patch it?
I launched the game for the first time today, after updating my nvidia drivers, I don't really see any issues with the game. Loading times seem fine to me. Controls take some time to get used to though since I haven't played JC2 for a while.
So...anyone with the AMD beta drivers still having the landscape bug? Any fixes known?
So...anyone with the AMD beta drivers still having the landscape bug? Any fixes known?
I have the beta drivers. They fixed the landscape bug (at least for me). I also have the game in off-line mode on steam and disabled the in-game steam overlay. It runs better now because of everything adding up, but it is not as optimized for AMD gpus as it could be. Also, there was this weird possible fix for some people with stuttering that had to do with Window's playback setting. I tried it and I think my fps improved, but there seems to be at least less stuttering overall.
Wingsuit protip: when you're reeling yourself in, hold pitch up and cancel the grapple 2-3m before you reach the thing you're grappling, works like a charm for me.

All I can tell is that JC3 is (supposed to) better optimized for nVidia hardware than AMD. Between Avalanche and AMD, I might be waiting a while for better optimization.
I love this game.
I had a moment where I got basically stun locked and the AI shit on me. I wanted to take out one fuel tank and was a little too close so it sent me ragdolling, just as I try to get up a DRM tank comes up and shoots me once. Ok no problem, I'll just get up and run, oh wait mortar round inbound, hits me before I can recover. Then one lone red barrel just on fire and about to blow rolls over to me, I guess blown over from the fuel tank explosion from before, and detonates just before I can get up. Then the tank shoots me a second time because this whole time I've been bouncing around still in line of sight. Then another mortar strike comes in, stunning me again, and then finally the tank finishes me off, just kinda sitting in the same spot the entire time wondering how easy it was to take out Rico Rodriguez. I love this game.
Luckily this game is very generous when it comes to saving. If you die while trying to take a settlement, you don't loose your progress.
So I've upgraded my graphic drivers, turned off steam overlay, ran the game in offline mode, and even tried running it as an administrator, but the game still stutters in intense combat defiantly during missions. Is there anything else I can try?

I really want to buy the game, but the reports of it being unoptimized are making me worry. I'm sorry for another one of these posts, but would an i5 3470 and an XFX R9 280x Black Edition run it well enough? I don't need it to be ultra, just anything above lowest on 60 fps would be fine

SWEET BABY JESUS SHOTGUNNERS ARE ANNOYING

One of my favorite things so far is tethering enemy choppers to the ground. In jc2 just 1 helicopter could be pretty annoying to deal with but now you can have a whole swarm on you and they don't pose a problem. And watching them slowly get pulled to the ground before exploding all around you is kinda therapeutic.
Is there any way to unlink the 'increase throttle' and 'nitrous' controls in planes? If you hold shift while you don't have nitrous, the plane goes faster than if you don't hold it, but if you have nitrous, you can't really take advantage of it, holding shift will deplete your nitrous and won't let it regenerate, but if you don't hold it all the time, the plane is slow as fuck.. So I can choose between semi fast all the time, or slow as fuck most of the time and slightly faster in short periods.. I somehow managed to get nitrous bound to mouse 3 while increase throttle was still on shift, but then I died and it reset :( (Whenever I change either control, they both change to the same key)

I wonder what Boom Island is all about, I got a tribal race to the death vibe from it when I went there, took forever to fly out there though. It's hilariously obviously mapped out as a race track too.I guess only playing the game further will tell me. I'm also kinda disappointed there isn't anything more interesting on the big crater island at the top left of the map. [sp]Maybe something happens later on, but for the moment it's got old greek style ruins, and the crater itself has got a fuck ton of lava and turns the look of the game into this mars-like atmosphere when you're near it.[/sp] I remember flying out to the Lost Island in JC2 just out of curiosity, and boy was I surprised when all of a sudden I get shot out of the air by lightning, into a smoking death spiral. :v: Also guys, take a double check at your graphics control panel. I had to put everything down to low while in-game to get up to ~60, because I totally forgot I had my GPU in "override all game settings" mode, with everything set to absolute max, silly me.
I really want to buy the game ...
Why not just buy it anyways? Just because you can't play it at your own FPS liking now, doesn't mean that you won't be able to later? I'd say owning it and tinker with it on your own is better than possibly cutting yourself out solely based on other peoples setup and experiences, since game performance can be stupid like that.
The gunshots sound amazing, just going into a roadside battle and hearing all the echos of the various guns, they did a great job on the audio.
The gunshots sound amazing, just going into a roadside battle and hearing all the echos of the various guns, they did a great job on the audio.
the sounds are great. Their mixing is not. When editing my video micro-review, I noticed a huge audio spike and I thought that maybe it was during one of the points where I was blowing a lot of shit up. It wasn't, though, it was a dickhead calling for back-up. I had to drop the audio by almost 20db's in order to not be drowned out by it in the voice-track. It had a larger audio signature than ANY of the explosions I've recorded.
Well, the game CTDs for me now
Sorta sad, game is nearly unplayable for me. Even with everything at absolute lowest settings, my GTX 770s can't manage over 30 FPS. Guess I just gotta wait for it to be patched.

Honestly can't think what could be causing it, you have more ram than me, we have similiar cpu's (mines an i7 4790 @4ghz). Hopefully it'll be resolved in a patch.
I'm not so good with the tethers on this game haha, i only have 2 Also sorry about the black bars on either side, for some reason they're always there but not when in fullscreen, i have no idea what's causing it
