The German Schlager singer that is, a certain other less famous developer of Space Showroom Simulators is, as far as I'm aware, still alive.
So proc planets again for ATV.
Wonder if they're going to fully show off trading or full item 2.0 ship abilities before 3.0 drops or if we're just going to get some nice surprises.
Snip
It's up.

This week's lorepost is a slice of Xi'An history at 500 CE (500 AD), giving us a glimpse at what the turbo-nerds were doing while humanity was still not yet into the medieval age.
What the hell is wrong with the audio in ATV. Sounds like Chris and Sandi recorded their part on an iPhone.
Fuckin' solid one from the UK though.
Gosh i want a reclaimer.
May be impatient and use my LTI token on one next time it goes on sale.
In retrospect i should have bought another nox to act as a token in case i wanted more LTI ships.
(do they release these small LTI ships often?)

There is another bike on the way I think, but I don't know how far that is in the pipeline.
What are the chances that the reclaimer is the surprise they have hinted at for 3.0?

Isn't the reclaimer confirmed to be for 3.0?
Isn't the reclaimer confirmed to be for 3.0?
It isn't in the Schedule Report for 3.0.
the terrain stuff is shaping up nicely, let's hope for more
The part where they showed 4 players on a dedicated server showed off the new version of the Cutlass.
I am so ready for that upgrade.
The Reclaimer is in fact on the schedule -- in the "beyond 3.0" section. It's scheduled to be finished in September, so it's not for 3.0.0.
The Connie Phoenix should be finished by October.
A semi-prominent backer had a UK studio visit last month, and got an interview with Erin.
As usual, everyone had to sign an NDA, but there's an intriguing little hint that confirms something Ben said on a podcast interview: There is a "game-changing" ship concept being worked on. And I've been trying to think that that could possibly mean. The existing ships and concepts cover such a wide range, all we're really missing is minelaying/minesweeping, ship towing, and full-blown Gundam-scale mecha. Space bikes were the "game changer" last year, with the reveal of the Dragonfly and the new size class of "ship", but they've fairly covered the rest of the vehicle roles.
The new Redeemer is supposed to be a drone-deploying ship, so maybe CIG is finally making one of those ambient maintenance drones into a playable vehicle or something?

Isn't that about the same time as the BMM is scheduled too?

In one sense, yes.

The BMM is scheduled to begin work around the time the Connie Phoenix is expected to be done, and shortly after the Reclaimer is finished.

Worst case, I or someone else can lend you a hand. I wouldn't mind gifting one of these to you if you paid me the exact cost (i.e. I don't make any money) to buy it back out of the buyback queue ($35 USD/whatever Euros, currently), and then you'd have an LTI ship with a low base value so it could be upgraded to anything you want.
I also have spare P-72s in my buyback queue, so I can do this a dozen times. I win this time, Roberts. :v:

I would be extremely grateful if you'd be okay with that in case i won't get the chance again normally.
So how do you even get access to this game?
So how do you even get access to this game?
short answer before elix gets here: you need a game package to have access to beta. it's a ship+game pre-order, $45 is your current lowest price, sometimes there's a $35 sale, final product presumably $60 at launch. Squadron 42 stand-alone package is now a separate thing and won't grant beta by itself.
More detail on the getting started page, and an easy checklist on the download page to funnel you in
Yeah, that's about it. From there, you've got a ~30GB download (delta patching should be coming with or shortly after 3.0, the next big patch).
Only thing I'd really add is the perennial reminder that all you need is the basic game package with either the Aurora MR or Mustang Alpha. Anything at all beyond that is entirely optional and goes towards supporting the game. Every ship and piece of gear will be obtainable in-game.
Any way to jump into the PU solo without using cheat engine? I want to see what kind of performance I get outside of the network problems.
Now that there's actual elements of server-side persistence, I don't think that works anymore.
Ah damn, looks like I'll have to wait and hope that 3.0 can improve performance.
Happy Hour this week is 3.0 gameplay systems. Might actually be able to figure out the full scope of 3.0's systems! Hopefully they let loose and don't hold back on 'spoiler' stuff.

Take this with a grain of salt, but someone on Reddit claims that CR has made Gamescom a hard deadline for 3.0. This person has in the past given credible and seemingly-accurate insider information to support their claim that they are personal friends with several CIG devs.
It makes sense, and it'd also be really fucking embarrassing if CIG let Gamescom come and go without 3.0 considering 3.0 was last year's big GC show and Chris made the oft-misquoted statement of hoping to get 3.0 out by the end of 2016. According to Reddit guy, the general mood around the offices is a mix of frustration (at the snags delaying 3.0) and excitement (nearly ready to ship almost a year's worth of work to let the backers play with it) but everyone is focused on advancing through the workload.
At the very least, even if this is a repeat of the AC 1.0 release where CIG rushes shit out for Gamescom and it's busted, they aren't going on vacation for two weeks right after the Gamescom presentation ends; shit'll be broken for a few days to a week and then they'll get hotfixes in, business as usual. 2.0 was really rough on the PTU but they smoothed it out.

Nice to see the Nox floating about in space. Don't think I'll be making the 3am stream though. How quickly do they upload the streams to YouTube generally? Pretty excited to hear about some 3.0 mechanics.

Oh Captain my Captain, is this some sort of salvaging/ship refitting mechanic
Oh Captain my Captain, is this some sort of salvaging/ship refitting mechanic
Sorry to disappoint you, but no.
On the other hand, salvaging (for scrap/parts) is a confirmed mechanic, ship repair is a confirmed mechanic, and it's said that there will be at least one derelict Bengal floating in space that players can fix up and commandeer, although simply returning the capital ship to flightworthy status will be an accomplishment that takes an entire org (guild) working together. It is unclear how this Bengal is supposed to be fixed up, so.... maybe salvaging and rehabilitating wrecks will be a thing in the long-term?
