CIG is drip-feeding teasers of the X1's variants in advance of the concept sale on Friday.

Also, xblgptlbghh Terrrrraaaaaa! I've been waiting for that name to come up.
It's been like... what, almost three years since they've shown us a glimpse of Terra beyond concept art and a few WIPs of the Terra Tower atrium?

They're still dropping more.

That's the warbond-exclusive skin.
By the way, the warbond sale is up. Seems like the three variants are the baseline bikething, then a racing variant (VELOCITY), and a combat/exploration? variant (FORCE).

That was actually a really useful ATV to understand the systems that go into basically anything that can be interacted with in-game.
I'm kind of hoping they allow players to use some of the idling usables that NPCs do - leaning against railings, for example. And eventually that they allow for Mobiglas anims while in these idle poses - broadcasting your character's face for a video conversation while leaning on a railing, or sitting at a table or at a bar.

AFAIK that is the plan
Number of blockers for an Evocati release is officially 5 now. They're tracking them down pretty fast, so there's a possibility we'll see an evocati release [del]this week[/del] in the coming week.
I'm pretty sure it's not happening today, but unless CIG discovers more crash bugs that get worse the closer the instance is to full, I'd say there's a solid chance it's happening next week.

Oh, and if anyone cares, if you're a subscriber the Herald is up for sale at its existing price ($85) for this weekend only. As usual, the ship that's been on subscriber test drive all month goes on sale in case it won over any hearts. CCUs to the Herald from the Aurora ES ($65) to the Avenger Titan and Reliant research variant ($10, each) are available, again only to subscribers.
$9,000 away from $160mil, and the X1 concept sale hasn't officially started yet. :poot:

The X1 FORCE is combat-oriented with improved defenses for exploration and reconnaissance -- getting into trouble, basically.

Woah we're gettin' really close now! (again)
Regardling the late ATVs, I don't really mind having some outdated information, especially since the schedule report gets dropped the day after with all the last minute info (see above, 5 bugs down to 1 in less than 24 hours).
i'm still worried about the removal of dozens major bugs which were blockers into 'another release'
i'm still worried about the removal of dozens major bugs which were blockers into 'another release'
If you paid attention to what CIG said, or the explicit explanations I've given, you'll know that the blockers CIG moved off the must-fix list are still meant to be addressed before 3.0 comes out. They aren't being ignored until 3.1 or something.
The idea is that CIG looked at the list of blockers and noticed that there are two kinds of blockers: blockers that affect everyone all the time (such as the client crashing within 5 minutes no matter what) and blockers that are confined to a specific feature that is not essential to all players' sessions (such as a specific ship crashes the server if it's blown up, to make up an example). You can prevent the Evocati from spawning the problem ship and still be able to get a lot of useful testing about most of the patch from the avocados while devs work on fixing whatever is wrong with the ship that they had to disable access to it.
It's actually pretty clever, because CIG only has some 40-50 people in QA across their studios, but it they can get the Evocati involved they're now bringing in several hundred more testers that've demonstrated skill and diligence at bug-reporting. That will hopefully accelerate the process of finding and fixing bugs in 3.0 do it can go live sooner.
If you've heard that CIG cut 3.0 features down in order to get the build into testing and they're not fixing the bugs until they work on releasing 3.1.x next year, gueeeesssss whoooooo is pushing that particular bit of misinformation? I'll give you a hint: his own gamedev "career" is a joke that only he takes seriously and the only thing he's famous now is for being an obsessed troll.
I used to have internet that was 27 megabits down, 1 megabit up. Upgraded it yesterday.
Safe to say I'm definitely ready for Star Citizen 3.0 now :V

Can I have your old 27Mb down, I get 11
Can I have your old 27Mb down, I get 11
If you use Bell or Rogers, consider a switch to Teksavvy, if it's available in your area. You may be able to get much better service for much less than you'd be paying at the big companies.
i'm still worried about the removal of dozens major bugs which were blockers into 'another release'
You mean the 1 major documented bug they have left to fix as of a week or so ago?
Can I have your old 27Mb down, I get 11
I have 100kb/s down.
Life is shit.
You mean the 1 major documented bug they have left to fix as of a week or so ago?
No, that's not what Dwarden means. And also that "as of a week ago" is this past Friday, a mere few days ago and more importantly one business day ago.
Dwarden is specifically referring to Erin Roberts' decision to reprioritize a number of blockers that were not directly related to core stability but were still holding the build back from going to Evocati. It was all explained on the same thread page as Dwarden's post and yours. That's how CIG shaved 25 blockers off the list on one day without actually fixing them -- because they've been set to be fixed after the Evocati get their hands on the initial testing build.
Once the Evocati get their hands on the build, the blockers list will probably shift to be "blockers holding back public PTU release" rather than "blockers holding back Evocati release" and those 25 bugs will be re-added to the blocker list, not counting any that've already been fixed.

Me too! What's the ETA on Alpha 3.0, 6th October?
please don't turn this into a 'post your speedtest result' thread mostly because I am jealous thanks
Me too! What's the ETA on Alpha 3.0, 6th October?
No ETA from CIG, just a bug tracker. Current speculation from other backers puts it around end of October/start of November, although I think internally they would be aiming for at least a Citizencon release.
@elixwhitetail
thanks, it's so nice i don't need to explain it all over again :)
and yes you nailed exactly what i mean
anyway i'm just worried a bit more about major issues
because blockers will be deal at some point as they must be
Can I have your old 27Mb down, I get 11
Can I get your 11, I have 0.35 divided amongst four people
Hahaha our government sucks.
Also, what state is this game in now? Can I do the planets? Can it patch itself or does it still blast the whole install away every time?
Hahaha our government sucks.

The answer is yes, delta patching and planets are playable -- if you are CIG QA. However, the patch should be going to the Evocati this week unless CIG discover more bugs that crash the client/server 100% of the time. From there, public testing on the PTU and then live release is only a matter of time.
Unlike a few months ago where CIG had nice estimations of release windows on the schedule report, here there's just one bug (as of Friday) holding the build back from the avocados.
Also, a reminder for everyone: the first time you get a 3.0 build to download with the new delta patching, you will STILL need to download the whole thing. Subsequent patches afterwards will delta instead of a full redownload. The reason for the full install on the first 3.0 patch is because the file structure is totally different so the old 2.6.x install can't be used to delta. In effect, it is accounting for delta patching, but the changes are 100% so there's no data to leave in place. :v:

I also have a internet connection :v
Too bad my ISP loves to just die at random times.
please don't turn this into a 'post your speedtest result' thread mostly because I am jealous thanks
also because posting speedtest results is kinda dumb
Do the avos get any kind of dev tools to help them isolate bugs, etc.?
