Looks like a bootleg PL-01, and that thing is a sci-fi meme by now. Cool to have a tank though.
The SQ42 system requirements have been published on the SQ42 page.
* Windows 7 (64bit) with Service Pack 1, Windows 8 (64bit), Windows 10 - Anniversary Update (64bit) * DirectX 11 Graphics Card with 2GB RAM (4GB strongly recommended) * Quad Core CPU * 16GB+ RAM * SSD strongly recommended

The SQ42 system requirements have been published on the SQ42 page.
That looks like the temp SC system requirements
I'd pretty much call those unofficial system requirements for 3.0, at least.
If those are minimum requirements then I'm happy to say I hit them all, barely, aside from having an SSD. They must be getting pretty close nailing down S42 if they're confidently posting system requirements now, right?
We have been promised the roadmap to release as well as a gameplay reveal during the AtV livestream tomorrow, so we'll find out.
I'm a bit out of the loop with SQ42, I knows its like a singleplayer campaign. Does this need to be bought extra when its out or is it included in the old/current $40 packs?
The SQ42 system requirements have been published on the SQ42 page.
Those specs are so comically vague that they're basically pointless.
Those specs are so comically vague that they're basically pointless.
Specifying API support but not a GPU to compare relative to is kinda dumb, as API support and VRAM aren't going to be as important as the rest of the specs by any means
Old ones yeah, new ones its not, its a $15 addon bring it to $60
Oh nice, my old one from like Feb 2013 does include it.
they uploaded a 4k version of that teaser now [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_9nQhsWyVU[/hd]
Teaser looked great! Although I'm not sure why your character quietly mouths the choice on screen and then says something completely different when you select it??
They did the same thing in wing commander. Basically it's like the general idea of what you want to say but a shorter form and then it's interpreted in the players ingame voice if you know what I mean. I think they did it just as a homage to Wing Commander or something, we'll see today.
Do we know if there's going to be some form of character creation for S42? I assumed your character would just be silent and unseen but since it's voiced I'm wondering how that's going to carry over when you bring your character into the PU.
Teaser looked great! I'd like to see it in situations where he doesn't have to pep-talk himself to not misstep in front of his angry new boss
They did the same thing in wing commander.
they uploaded a 4k version of that teaser now [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_9nQhsWyVU[/hd]
The protagonist sounds like a wimp. I guess he's more relatable that way, though. Not everyone can sound like me. :q:
Teaser looked great! Although I'm not sure why your character quietly mouths the choice on screen and then says something completely different when you select it??
The system that controls those floating UI choices is called Inner Thought, so that's probably something to do with the stylistic choice to have your character mumble the choice to himself before continuing with the scene dialogue.
Do we know if there's going to be some form of character creation for S42? I assumed your character would just be silent and unseen but since it's voiced I'm wondering how that's going to carry over when you bring your character into the PU.
I don't think there's any character creation for SQ42 because your character has been specifically mocapped by Mark Strong. Conceivably, they could allow character creation within limitations so you can pick your own face but have Mark's mocapped facial expressions as an animation set that works with any face. Since your SQ42 character becomes your PU character (retconning if necessary), I think they'll have something where, when you leave the UEE and enter the PU as a civilian, you have some sort of facial reconstruction surgery done, in other words character customization. How this'll work with female characters, though, I don't know. I'm guessing "it's the 30th century, stfu". :v:
They probably need to make those dialogue choices a little less ambiguous. Besides, 'Stay frosty' sounds so stupid, they could just go 'play it cool'.
Not to mention IF they will actually make aliens playable, how the hell that'd work
Not to mention IF they will actually make aliens playable, how the hell that'd work
While CIG has not ruled out playing as a different alien species, and even discussed the potential of a post-SQ42 single-player campaign where you are a xeno, that's not something they're going to be adding anytime soon. They'd have to completely redo all the animation sets and make them work with the established metrics. Plus the aliens don't necessarily fit in human ships -- a Vanduul is never piloting an Aurora without either being bent over or clipping through the roof. And if they did, I could see either a dedicated campaign being released where you play as the xeno character in pre-PU storyline, and then the same character customization is provided when it's time to import that character into the PU or you permadie on your old character and the game allows you to pick, say, a Banu when you're rolling up your dead character's heir/protege.
Teaser looked great! Although I'm not sure why your character quietly mouths the choice on screen and then says something completely different when you select it??
The interaction system for objects and NPC's is referred to as the "inner thought" system, so your character is actually thinking to himself, not saying it under his breath. To be honest I'm not a huge fan of voiced protagonists, especially in these kinds of games. Like am I supposed to be part of the story, or a witness to it? Guess that's why the ME and DA series wore thin on me over time.
The livestream has been postponed until tomorrow due to technical difficulties holding back elements of the presentation. Same time, just tomorrow. A bit disappointing, but it's a hell of a lot better than just pulling the SQ42 demo entirely like they did in 2015.
They probably need to make those dialogue choices a little less ambiguous. I dont remember properly but i recall them somehow.
Arent those dialogue choices references to the star marine demos where the players were spouting off really cringeworthy lines? I dont remember properly but i recall them somehow.
I think these lines are genuine and not just a very obscure reference to a very cringe-inducing aspect of a demo for a gameplay build that was eventually thrown out. Illfonic's PAX Australia demo was REALLY bad, though. "Let's not stand on ceremony, gentlemen." "Clear the fatal funnel, guys! Time, now!" :dewritos:
Real talk: I'm going over the Kickstarter shit and all of the bazillion goals they dumped on everyone, but one that sticks out the most is this:
Allowing user generated content is a key design goal Our modding tools will allow players to design new ships for both submission to the persistent RSI ship dealer network or to build custom ships and items for the self-hosted multiplayer mode.
With the rate shit is going and how detailed the ever anally retentive Roberts is, I don't see this being realistic anymore. Also, what the hell is the self-hosted multiplayer mode anyway? It doesn't sound like private PTU servers, it sounds more like the dogfight module but with ships that have 50 lasers and 5000 missiles.
Self-hosted multiplayer = single-star-system private servers, Freelancer-style. Back in the Kickstarter days, the scope of the game was small enough that all of that quote was an entirely reasonable proposition. TNGS proved that, as of the ship pipeline sophistication level they were working with at the time, backers could create ships and there'd be a way of whacking them with a wrench to make them work. Now, yeah not so much, not without some fairly advanced content assistance tools.. Systems in the PU would be fairly small and basic so running a dedicated server on a consumer box was no problem. Now that we're looking at 3.0 PTU, it's maybe not quite so feasible to use the old dualcore machine sitting unused in the garage. I could see a single PU instance being hosted on a consumer machine, but it'd have to have, like, a player limit of 24 and there'd be AI spawn limits, unless they really clean up performance on the server-side by launch. If the PU's just that complex by the time everything reaches release and they turn to mod tools/private servers, they could just let you rent AWS instances that are built to run private star systems for Star Citizen, which isn't as ideal but is better than the promise just being broken. The promise always was that they'd release dedicated servers so players could play with their friends with mods and, eventually, total conversions. They have not yet renounced those goals, although obviously making ships for Star Citizen is hella more complex than any other modding-intened game. I think they'd still make it possible, but you need the chops to actually pull it off.
You're supposed to be able to host your own PUs as private servers, minus any secret stuff to prevent data mining for MMO secrets. edit: oops, didnt see elix's posts as i'd left the tab open. Here's hoping they go through with it, im still unhappy with how ED canned their offline mode, it would suck for SC to do the same and be left without any offline/hosted spess stuff
lets hope self-hosted don't end as P2P ... we know how badly it ended for E:D ...
