Aside from 20fps average, the game didn't crash and I was able to land on both daymar and yela in the same session using a caterpillar. I do not want to fly one of those bricks when the game releases, I'll stick to my light and medium fighters thanks.
So, now that the delta patcher is released, we shouldn't have to redownload the entire client anymore right? Like, ever? (Or will they still mandate a fresh install every so often?)
3.0.0 is live! You need the new launcher and you can get it here. If you downloaded the last PTU build, install the new launcher to the path you previously installed the PTU launcher to, and you shouldn't need to download anything.
Key gameplay how-tos Afterburner: There is now a single afterburner with the ability to achieve higher top velocity under certain conditions, giving us AB SCM and AB Cruise with the only distinction being two different speeds. You can only enter AB Cruise if your flight path is a straight, forward line. Otherwise you're limited to AB SCM, i.e. while maneuvering/strafing. Once in AB Cruise you can release the afterburner key and go into an AB idle mode to maintain your current speed. Throttle setting and y-axis strafe level allows incremental speeds, but you will decelerate if you change your vector. If you continue to hold AB and maneuver, you drop to AB SCM speed until you return to straight-line flight. AB Idle holds your current velocity as long as you're not maneuvering and decoupled rotation is allowed while in AB idle. Ship Start Up: Approach the entry point of your ship, then press and hold "F" to activate the interaction system. Select from the various inner thought prompts using the cursor or mouse wheel to move between them. Once inside your ship, again press and hold "F" and select the "Flight Ready" prompt to run through complete ship start up. Alternatively, you can press the "F5" key for quick start up. Landing: Landing now takes place through an Air Traffic Control (ATC) system. When close to a landing location, request a landing by navigating to your "Comms" menu on the MobiGlas (note: this is incorrectly displayed as a ship icon) and pushing the hail button (wifi symbol). Wait a moment, and ATC should assign you a landing location. Note, you may need to request take off to leave Levski (trigger opening of bay doors). Quantum Travel: To quantum travel to a destination, open your MobiGlas (F1) and select the StarMap App (diamond shaped symbol). From there, use the mouse to select a destination. Whether or not an object can be selected for QT is determined by gravitational values (The larger the object the further away you can detect it, large objects with small objects in orbit drown out their detection capabilities at long ranges). Meaning you will not be able to travel from point A to B at all times, but instead may need to move into orbit of a larger body to detect destinations also in orbit. For example, to get to a station orbiting a moon that orbits a planet, the route is Planet>Moon>Station. Once you have a destination selected you can "set destination" on your MobiGlas to bring up a quantum travel target. As before, align with the QT target and press "B" to travel. (Or will they still mandate a fresh install every so often?)
In theory, the only time they'd need to force a complete reinstall is either a bug that's so messed it corrupts the install, or if they change the file packing format or the file encryption key.
I cannot for the life of me seem to figure out how to quantum travel to shit that's on the planet's surface, if that's even possible. It's entirely possible I'm a moron, but selecting a POI on the planet in the map and pressing Set Destination does nothing. Nevermind, am moron, figured it out.
my fps is surprisingly playable at times, but I can't actually do anything because as soon as I start my engine, the mobiglas and all inner thought prompts stop working, so I can't navigate or even get out [editline]24th December 2017[/editline] actually it seems that after some arbitrary 2-5 minutes of playing, that issue happens, like I've been disconnected from the server. it runs remarkably smoothly until then
Star Marine in it's current state is more enjoyable than Call of Duty: WW2.
Why is there an asteroid right next to Olisar
Why is there an asteroid right next to Olisar
Because when you Quantum Jump, you get a rather high chance of breaking out of Warp either by asteroid block or pirate interdict. If it's an asteroid block, the asteroids are spawned in where you drop out. However, if someone gets Juuuust far enough outside of Olisar or another space port, you can spawn asteroids at the location
So other than stability issues it runs surprisingly well as others have said. My one gameplay concern thus far is how bad the Mustang is for combat. It took me forever to kill a scythe in arena commander, I can't imagine it will be much better on PU with the lag and such. Is 3.1 going to be when we can start putting new weapons and shit on our ships?
If your interactions suddenly stop working, it's likely that the instance has died and your client hasn't caught on yet. There also seems to be a bug where sometimes dying doesn't properly kill you, and so you end up stuck where you were but you can't do anything and can't even suicide, all you can do is type in chat and leave the instance. :v: [t]https://i.imgur.com/e1rDSMQ.png[/t] Here lies elix and diwako, unable to die [t]https://i.imgur.com/OLMrBio.png[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/b598vVc.png[/t]
So other than stability issues it runs surprisingly well as others have said. This shouldn't require waiting for 3.1.
First time getting into 3.0, I fly to Yela and land only to accidentally eject my canopy. Now I'm stuck in the sitting position (but I can move) on the north pole of an alien planet. 10/10 best game ever
Is there any reason to keep the PTU launcher installed or is it safe to remove now that 3.0 is live? I kind of thought the new launcher that came with the 3.0 PTU would have a Live/PTU switch like the last launcher but now I'm scared to uninstall the PTU launcher incase I ever want to jump back into heavy testing.

It was only unique to the PTU when the live build still used the old launcher infrastructure because they couldn't mix the two. I'm pretty sure when they bring out a post-3.0.0 PTU, there'll be a tab in the "live" launcher for PTU, rather than a separate launcher install just for the PTU side of things -- just as it was when the only launcher being used was the old one.
is there a way to save your location so you respawn at the current landing zone instead of olisar? kinda absurd that the game remembers my ship is parked at levski but not that I was there too, making me file a claim despite safely storing it away
The mobiglass interface is hilariously bad. It's like, bright white and in my ship it's impossible to use while in the cockpit.

You probably always respawn there if you find a bed to sleep in though.
Is there a way to rent a room or something that Levski so we can set to respawn there? I flew there and landed my ship in the hanger, went to sleep in the bed in my ship yet still woke up in Olisar with my ship still at Levski.
You should be able to sleep in a bed in the Levski habitation zone, and it should set your spawn point to there. Sleeping in beds is still buggy.
You should be able to sleep in a bed in the Levski habitation zone, and it should set your spawn point to there. I have managed to spawn at levski after logging off with my ship there but honestly i havent been able to reproduce it since the PTU
3.0 is really neat but playing with the old and busted Mustang Beta as my only ship is very sad. Does anyone have that giant image with the timeline of all the ship releases and reworks?
Anyone else getting error 1002 constantly when trying to install?
3.0 is really neat but playing with the old and busted Mustang Beta as my only ship is very sad. Now that 3.0 is out, CIG owes us the post-3.0 roadmap and the last schedule report update of the year indicated that the roadmap'll be out with the website rework which is I guess something Turbulent should be finished with soon. However, the Mustang reworks are in-progress now, so it'll be something we see finish this next year, with the 3xx series reworks expected to begin sometime not too late into 2018.
also it's a 7 day 'rent' but the PU doesn't count it down so you'll have it practically forever until they fix that, but apparently you can only use the one most recently purchased ship
I haven't personally tested it, but Reddit has figured out a supposed workaround to the one-at-a-time thing.

I'd like not to have to fly half a planet to reach the POI for my mission.
A workaround for renting multiple ships was found. Rent a ship, claim it in the PU (it doesnt need to be destroyed), wait for it to be delivered, close the game, rent a new ship and you should be set with both of them.
Is there some sort of autopilot or other navigational aids for planetary travel? I'd like not to have to fly half a planet to reach the POI for my mission.
The OM-x beacons are arranged in six points around the planet, so you can warp to the closest one. However, for the moment, that's the fastest thing. Make use of full afterburner to get up to >1km/s and make the wait faster.

I just wish that Star Marine earned REC since that's probably the most fun mode for me right now. Dogfighting is... not an option in the Beta, I've discovered.
3.0 Persistent world is niccccce. And the game at 4k maxed out is incredible.
