Finally I can start playing. Getting fiber was the best thing I've ever done
oh shit that's me in like a week I've had decent enough hardware but now I get to actually download the thing. I haven't even been watching youtube videos at home for the last year, so SC news was always pastime when bored at uni
I might just be me, but the ingame map.. it frustrates me to no end. No matter what way i turn it around, or how much i zoom in or out, it's looks.... weird and not funtional... Take the PI mission, i cant target the Covalex Station no matter what i do...

Because Quantum Drive now relies on relative size of bodies and such. If you're at Olisar and you want to go to Covalex Hub Gundo, you've first got to Quantum to the moon Covalex is orbiting, and then you'll be able to Quantum from the dropoff spot for the moon over to Covalex directly. It's the same reason you have to Quantum to Yela before you can select GrimHex and warp to it.

Then when i try to jump to Covalex, the ingame map freaks out and i can't seem to select Covalex no matter how far in or out i'm zoomed.. Could be me that just don't know how to operate the map, i won't deny that...
3.0 definitely has issues, so it wouldn't be a surprise to me if the starmap breaks in some situations. If that happens, go land your ship at Olisar and log out and try another instance and see if you can get to Covalex. You could also try searching the Issue Council bug tracker on RSI, although it's likely to be a disorganized mess so it may not be easy to find matching reports.

I can't buy any commodities anywhere. Have been to multiple outposts and my ship is just greyed out for some reason? I have tried googling this issue, similar issues but haven't found anyone else with this problem. I am using a Freelancer and can't help but think I am doing something wrong, but I watched youtube videos and they make it look so simple. Did everything by the book but every time I go to a terminal and select the 'buy' option, then drop down menu, try to click my ship and nothing. 0/66 cargo space used. Anyone able to help/elaborate on what is going on here, I really want to enjoy this game but I am not making my money by doing these ridiculously low paying missions I mean the whole reason for getting the lancer was to trade and I can't do it. Veins have been throbbing in my head after 5 hours of changing servers, researching how to do this to no avail. Surely some wizard here can help If not, fuck it I will wait until the next update
I'd search the issue council on the RSI webpage, which is the public bug reporting tool. If no one else has this problem, you can create a new issue ticket for this problem. I don't think Google indexes the issue council, and after like a year and a half of it existing people have figured out that posting bug reports to Reddit is a lot less effective so at least some have finally stopped and started posting in the right place.

This guy in the reports might have a workaround so try that out-
When i have this issue at Olisar I will retrieve the ship, and try to buy cargo. If I cannot I generally exit to menu. Come back in and try again. This generally takes care of it. However is not ideal if you are at other locations.
in the meantime, friend of mine was super skeptical for years after playing the broken old tutorial mission once (1.9? 2.0?), though he did have fun breaking that- busted the landing sequence and spent a half hour flying directly through the 'dying star' planetoid while having to cancel out an error message every 7 minutes. Now he played about an hour of 3.0 through a friend's account and ended up getting a cutlass package :v: Flying a cat with gunners who coordinate is hilarious fun and works out just as well as I've assumed real turret play could, and the mercenary hunt/kill missions reward all players in the general vicinity (whether or not they even shot at anything) so it's a valid multi-crew activity (provided there's any of the mission to take at a given time, wish they were consistently available)
That worked! Thank you so much. Can't believe I never saw that thread on RSI You have no idea how grateful I am, only made 1000 aUEC but honestly I am so happy right now
given all the other missions make you like 20 spacebucks or nothing at all for way too much effort right now, that's still a good haul and it'll start adding up (especially if you use this to figure out what'll net you the most profit in a run based on your available funds and cargo space) god though I've lost two full caterpillars to bugs, it hurts to lose out on cargo/investments even if the money's easy. First was half-full with as much cheap, filling junk as I could get because I wanted to see a full hold, valued at 20,000uec, left me with 7uec to my name. Server disconnected as I approached olisar and when I logged back in the ship was 'stored' at yela, meaning it was unretrievable without claiming it and losing the stuff anyways. Second was the other day, spent 300,000 on the goods within and it quickly fell out of the sky from its own weight (I think?), beaching itself on the ground next to the mining station I took off from. Couldn't even sell the stuff back at a loss before having to claim Made a follow-up run with my remaining 250k (leaving me at 1uec, had a bad feeling the moment the value popped up lmao) and took off from levski. Things seemed to be working fine as I was ascending and talking to a friend, but i noticed my speed veeeery slowly ramping down. By the time I figured out it I didn't let off the gas, I hit 0, -1, -2, -4, and just oh shit shit SHIT. Pitched over and slammed the afterburners to try and get lateral motion instead of directly fighting gravity but I was still losing altitude, opened my QD map and set the first destination I could click, and managed to line up and smack QD barely a few hundred meters before slamming into the ground (thank god for the in-atmo QD bug). Managed to sell everything and wind up with 390k back in the bank
It's not very easy trying out and finding bugs with 1-15 fps :saddowns:
How much RAM do you have?
16GB Other specs GTX 1070 oc i5 6600k oc no ssd
feels like you see more of it trying to use physical RAM (and crapping out on non-SSD users especially) on people with 12gb, maybe you've got a lot of junk taking up extra RAM while you're playing and it's still capping out the same way? I know "kill a bunch of processes" is never a permanent fix but give it a shot before running next
I'd do the following: 1) Change your Windows swap to be 32GB minimum (and 32GB or more as max) instead of system-managed; this forces the size to be defined once, not dynamically allocated (which is slower, but slightly more conservative with your drive's free space). 2) Reboot the computer before playing SC and only open the launcher and SC. Leave Steam, Discord, etc. off and turn them off if they auto-start with your machine. Definitely shut off Chrome if it launches on system start, even if it's just an icon in the system tray. Basically, you want as little as possible to compete with SC for RAM, because 3.0 is a memory hog even without memory leak problems. 3) Turn off motion blur in the options menu; it turns itself back on every time the client is launched. After that, you just have to hope for a lightly-populated server. Port Olisar is also generally the worst for performance because it's where everyone spawns by default so it's the #1 area for potential population density at any given time on any given server. Fight your way to get away from Olisar and things should get at least a bit better. Using a spinning HDD doesn't help, but "buy an SSD" isn't going to solve everything either. :v:
ssd is 100% mandatory unfortunately, without it you'll get constant stuttering
ssd is 100% mandatory unfortunately, without it you'll get constant stuttering
I own one and still do, they just have to optimize .
I own one and still do, they just have to optimize .
there's a difference between the usual server stutter nonsense and 'permanent 2fps while it fights to write to disk swap for several minutes at a time'
Made my first 100k today thanks to dai Is this going to be similar to other version where they will reset player stats every update hereon or is the Delta Patcher an end to this?
Made my first 100k today thanks to dai Is this going to be similar to other version where they will reset player stats every update hereon or is the Delta Patcher an end to this?
money is likely to be reset whenever they reset the server persistence info, which will definitely be needed once they fix a number of bugs related to ships becoming 'null' and unclaimable*, and smaller vehicles flat out being deleted from your spawn list because they were inside a larger ship when that got claimed/despawned. So, don't get too attached to your earnings, but also still have fun hitting milestones. I've bumped 500k but have been bugged/crashed over on any big attempt past that yet, want to hit 1 mil *a fix if claiming returns 'null null' instead of a timer, join a server that isn't your own region and you should be able to trigger a claim there. When you return to your home region, it'll either be claimed, or work in claims again, with the occasional caveat that you now have a duplicate of that ship (convenient bug, no waiting for claims if you lose/blow up a bigger ship with a long timer!)
I did wonder why I had 2 Freelancers, thought it was a bug and there's my confirmation! I'd call it a handy feature, definitely making the most of it while I can :v:
Well another bug happened to me today, I am now a floating white ball... Can't access mobiglass, can't access shops to change clothes, can't go outside. Wtf Star Citizen :v: I think I am going to give it a year or two before I come back, before this I had 6 duplicate Freelancers as well. Damned shame so it is, I hit a milestone of 300k so yay me. But now I can't play :frown:
bigger issue council report, dude went full scientific theory on what could have caused it lmao they realistically should reset the persistence database, but probably don't want to until they finish patching the roots of all the big dupe/loss issues up while it's still kinda billed as a 3.0 refinement pass, 3.1 is scheduledâ„¢ to hit sometime around march
The website overhaul is here, and it's looking pretty slick. There are several significant revamps, including the schedule report, which is now a roadmap for 2018 divided into the quarterly patches. Reminder that not every item they're working on showed up on the old schedule report and the same applies here. But now I can't play :frown:
People have been posting about pingpong-ball issues for weeks, and earlier this week I saw a Reddit thread of a screenshot of a dev in Spectrum chat saying something like "I'm about to fix a whole lot of peoples' issues" followed by threads from ping-pong ball victims reporting the issue was fixed. So if you're experiencing the same issue, and it's not a different issue that turns you into a fucking ball, the good news is that they're super aware of the issue and actively investigating a permanent solution. I imagine they've identified what corruption/malformed data in the player file/record (or whatever, idk) turns you into a ball, and have applied hotfixes to the persistance db/etc., but they haven't finished tracking down and correcting the issue in the server and/or client that's actually causing it to happen in the first place. One thing that got overhauled was the Concierge page, as well as tier rewards. All Concierge get a top hat and monocle (hat buggy but wearable now, monocle wearable probably before 3.1), a gold-plated laser pistol, and a hangar flair of posh space booze. $2.5k-tier backers get all that plus a gold-plated sniper rifle. These weapons are identical to the normal ones, just bling-skinned. $5k-tier get a blinged EVA suit and the previous rewards. $10k get a civilian F8C Lightning with LTI and previous tiers. $25k+ (the top tier) get a deluxe F8C. Here are the banners for the Concierge page, starting with the one at the bottom of the page followed by each tier's specific banner except for the Space Marshall tier because I can't guess the URL. REC items should be available again; REC ships are unavailable in the PU again, as their availability was a bug that's now fixed.
