just watch reddit, takes like five minutes for some dipshit to leak patchnotes and other user's screenshots to the masses https://g.redditmedia.com/u3FgI9KVhtwDsd5B7QINbGTaComl6dykXKgUVarOr3g.gif?fm=mp4&mp4-fragmented=false&s=7983975cbb25c6247465803671a6e5ff from the ATV today is everything we need though
I own a reclaimer, i am so hyped. I'l also gladly offer tours
just noticed in the ATV, it seems to be serviced by a decent central elevator, though we saw in the reclaimer update the other month that there was what appears to be a small extendo elevator towards the front-right. Not sure it's the same one. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107007/eb786996-5838-4b91-b5df-3b0f142402d4/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107007/04b9690d-7644-44a6-975b-30ad0a9d3ec2/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107007/7f4d6794-69f5-462d-b565-337d55d7582d/image.png Looks like it's 2x2 SCU magplates, but longer than it is wide by a bit. Hoping we can fit dragonflies on it. here's a no-talk reel of the new ATV, linked to the relevant time. https://youtu.be/pY_0IaZrZC4?t=4m28s Salvage Balcony Habitation Deck Salvage Processing Salvage Hold Cargo Hold Exit to Surface looks like this elevator platform is pretty big, 2x2 cargo magplates, though it's spaced longer one way than the other. Hoping we can get dragonflies up into the ship with this
Oh yeah, i never noticed that part. It does seem like the Reclaimer has two elevators like you said, yeah. I'd imagine the larger elevator may be more towards the rear of the ship, and that smaller one may lead closer to the bridge. Shame that it seems the Reclaimer won't have that little skiff it was supposed to come equipped with in the initial concepts.
The player operated drones are its replacement. They'll likely have cutters and are manned, so, ye. If people wanted a tiny transport, we've got the dragonflies since this was concepted
True. Either way i can't wait for it to be out, as well as the salvage mechanics
In case you guys missed it, the St. Patrick's day sale is going on. It isn't much, especially since the Phoenix sold out, but it's something. I picked up a Harbinger. St Patrick's Day Promotion
The shape of the 600i makes me feel CIG could easily partner up with some computer mouse producer to make 600i shaped mice.
3.1 has now officially entered PTU
Concierge and Subscribers currently have access. No NDA, as well, so streaming/posting is allowed. Wave 1+ rollout to come soon enough, as always. The moons have new, enhanced ground textures and clutter. The Cyclone seems hard as fuck to control right now but it moves fast as hoped. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SnnHTSnuWw
Oh shit I forgot I'm a subscriber now. I'm gonna check it out. I take it to use the PTU you need a completely new install?
Copy account to PTU if the left side of your normal launcher doesn't have PTU in dropdown (not sure if this applies now that it's full PTU and not ETF), install PTU launcher start a PTU install, stop it, close launcher Copy your non-PTU files from the /starcitizen/LIVE/ folder into /starcitizenPTU/LIVE/ relaunch PTU launcher, it now only has to patch
RE: 350R, bad news in today's ptu notes Ships and Vehicles Reduced the hardpoint sizes on the 350r back to 2x size 2 and 1x size 3.
Well, I think we can assume that the 3xx series reworks are underway at the design phase and it's going to get bigger and be a bit more like the space luxury sedan/limo it was advertised as being. Something that small having all S3s (and a nose S4 on the 325A!) seems a little unusual even for CIG's epic sense of """balance""".
After I fight with the installer trying to update itself mid download of 3.1 followed by 2 CTDS and a version mismatch, where the fuck is my reclaimer and terrapin at?!
Honestly I'm perfectly okay with that. A long range luxury racer should not have the same weaponry as a dedicated short range fighter (i.e Gladius).
hmm the 350r doesn't seem to me like a dedicated 'luxury racer' to me though? how it is in-game right now, as the de facto 'best' racer, yes I agree completely. and early on it was the only racing ship so it made sense. but now with the m50, razor, and mustang omega, as well as spacebikes like nox and x1, the 350r doesn't seem to fit as well as a dedicated racer, with it's huge size, full interior, and cargo space. it seems to me it should be relabelled more as 'really fast multipurpose' stead of 'dedicated racer'
Yeah you're probably right. Still, I wasn't expecting it to get buffed in the first place so losing that buff is no biggie. On another note, ESP still needs work but it's great to actually be able to kill stuff in Swarm again thanks to the weapon/shield rebalancing.
The only thing they've really done for combat this patch has been ESP and some shield tweaks. As of the currently released public PTU I'd say right now the most critical combat issue is lack of working loadouts, followed by the extensive IFCS and boost issues which includes boost only working on some ships in some directions, sloppy rotations and unstable translations and velocity dependent accelerations leading to strafe motivated aim being near impossible. Then we have the existance of unidirectional ab2, followed by targetting issues and vanishing reticles. This is followed by issues being masked by other more severe issues. These things include the usual netcode woes and shield bug and various balance and tuning issues, including new gforce not having lateral limitations. There's still the constant freezing and poor framerates, and the CVI is out of sync with the mfds leading to wrong and conflicting status information. They still have a ton of work to put back in until the combat is back to how playable it was in 2.6.3. It seems unlikely more than one or two of those issues at most will be resolved before 3.1 goes live, so i wouldn't reccomend trying to get deep into the combat right now, it's a painful exercise. Fingers crossed for 3.2, i suppose. Weapons overall have been tuned to have less than 1 or .5 degree of max spread which is nice, the exception is the scatterguns which are now 1.5 degrees of max spread. I like the tight consistent spread on the new scatters but they do very high fuck you damage at a near equivalent accuracy to mass drivers, the only downside is middling projectile velocity. Basically, they're the new meta. Throw em on your aurora LN for a good time.
consider it like a series of a BMWs. You've got your off-the-lot car, your luxury touring version with extra features and better mpg, you've got... one with guns... and then you've got one that's been outfitted with a bunch of performance parts, from engine to body kit to whatever else makes it zoom. So, it's a civilian tuner/stock car, among the racers. Realistically I'd like to see racing get the varied focuses so this and the other racing ships start dividing up into their best fits, so you see more instances where specific ships are chosen for specific races (and having races based around using certain ships), instead of one-size-fits-all assumptions like 'the 350R is the best racer' just because some turbo nerd on youtube got the fastest benchmarks on the easiest course
I think of the 3xx series as the SC equivalent of taking the latest BMW midlife-crisis wagon with heated seats and Internet-of-Things-enabled cupholders to the Top Gear test track. It's a luxury vehicle to get you to your important business meetings and it's got enough power to get your trophy wife's panties wet when you punch it up to max cruise. The 350R is taking that, cramming a second engine on the back, and tuning everything up to be a competitive track ship. At the time the 350R came out, it was hyped because it was the only racer and CIG also made the stupid promise that it'd "never" be sold again, and well so much for that whoops. Then CIG did the same thing with the M50. And then the Omega was an AMD promo ship. The only designated racing ship available for sale year-round is the Gamma and I have never heard anyone get hyped for the Gamma. The 350R as currently built is not actually the 'best' racer, it's a fat-bottomed fast girl that's more a drag racer than a full-on performance rally beast. But then again, when you throw her ass around, she rewards you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2_BZMznar4
Man, after the latest PTU update i just keep getting connection errors no matter what i do.
Most people are, it's to be expected in testing. Also apparently spawning 4 or more Reclaimers on a server or trying to spawn one at Levski completely tanks everybody's FPS lol
confirmation bias because everybody's trying to spawn one. The reclaimers aren't the problem, it's the 20-30 security and pirate AI constantly spawning and dying directly next to olisar, causing the same goofy server stress as the overactive interdiction testing pictured: took this dude 12+ reclaimers to drop below 30fps https://i.imgur.com/lvrIesw.jpg
I looked for some new music in the files http://techbot.xyz/StarCitizen/3.1/ there might be more but they're kinda hard to find between all those sounds (so I just sorted by filesize).
They really need to disable interdictions until they are more stable.
this one sounds pretty cool http://techbot.xyz/StarCitizen/3.1/656694778.ogg
I noticed that one while approaching Ceilin. It's gloriously eerie and spacey.

I recorded the final moments of that from in the front cockpit hallway, but sadly it didn't record any volume and wasn't really worth uploading without that layer of ambiance since I missed all the internal damage state progression. Was super cool running down the hallways as he chucked missiles at the ship, you really feel the damage happening as you hear the loud bangs combined with light flashes and spark bursts inside, your camera shaking just enough to feel like your character stumbling at the impact without affecting your ability to keep moving right. It's already kind of in a damage state to start but there was definitely a lot of new pipes bursting and things sparking about in the ship. Felt like a legit cinematic experience the only thing missing now is instead of insta-death after a certain point, it goes into critical mode, loses power, and gives players the time to bail or pull off a repair miracle
