With a small squad and the right people in it, learning things like this is not so hard and actually fun. It also helps taking off the pressure of Squadleading really fast once you get a hang of it (and your squad members listening to you). It is basically social engineering mixed with tactical thinking somewhat. Hence why I keep people in my squad on a loose leash. Makes them have more fun and respond way better to commands.
Agreed, and having Terry and you along for the ride also took some of the pressure off (especially in regards to radio etiquette and personal comments on what you'd if you were the SQL). Being in a smaller OP i feel also helps, seeing as theres less radio chatter as well. I would definitely recommend this type of set up for any future would be SQL's.
Congratulations Gnime on becoming Squad Leader! FP ARMA yesterday when they heard the news:
I KNEW YOU WERE TRYING TO QUOTE ANIME!
Smaller ops are perfect for experimenting with various roles. Back in the glorious Bystrica campaign I started taking SL in the spec op/recon missions. Grand theft grad scarred me for life though.
I've got some time on my hands again, so I'll probably join the next operation. Now I've just gotta set up Teamspeak and all the plugins and shit again
hey is this game fixed yet or is it still a laggy pile of dogshit?
hey is this game fixed yet or is it still a laggy pile of dogshit?
It's okay, soldiers can only see in 12FPS.
hey is this game fixed yet or is it still a laggy pile of dogshit?
It's still a laggy pile of dogshit, and I doubt it's ever getting fixed. Give up.
hey is this game fixed yet or is it still a laggy pile of dogshit?
Arma will always be a laggy pile of dog shit
hey is this game fixed yet or is it still a laggy pile of dogshit?
Imagine complaining about not getting solid 60 in a game that runs hundreds of AIs in an area twice the size of Washington DC.
I mean... if you really want to, you can forego some of the graphic fidelity to make it so the game still looks nice but runs at a decent FPS with a large object render. It's what I do so flying is pretty nice and foot combat feels fluid (minus the case of Metal Gear)
Imagine complaining about not getting solid 60 in a game that runs hundreds of AIs in an area twice the size of Washington DC.
imagine not multithreading your AI from your main process so that render pipeline isn't held back by that and dozen other things
hey is this game fixed yet or is it still a laggy pile of dogshit?
you know? most of the problem is that you can't really optimize for visuals when you have an open world that can have things going on kilometers away that the player needs to be both able to see and interact with. This, combined with way that AI runs a really expensive calculation on a per-player basis (probably a raycast that can hit literally everything) means that anything like what we're playing is probably not going to run well. PvP and pubs run just fine tho.
hey is this game fixed yet or is it still a laggy pile of dogshit?
It's Bohemia... so it'll be fixed by the quirks of the engine being burned into your brain as something we call "ArmA Physics™"
Messing with graphics hardly does a thing when the bottleneck is CPU.
I turned up all my graphics to max besides Draw Distance and I get the same FPS, even AA doesn't do shit. Shadows does have an effect though. I just have a prettier slideshow now.
Messing with graphics hardly does a thing when the bottleneck is CPU.
this is true, but you can still get some FPS gains even when everyone is jack all for FPS say if the server is bottlenecking FPS. Just make sure you're not thinking that the server having an influence on your FPS has to do with the CPU. I only really see that graphical changes have an effect on FPS when I have my object render high. If you're only able to see out to 2 kilometers, it doesn't really matter.
I just wish BIS would place a higher priority on improving the multithreading of the game/engine, I have a highish end ryzen CPU and other games have had amazing performance increases when they were properly multithreaded Plus there are some people who are probably holding off on buying Arma because of the poor performance in MP, so I think it would be a sensible business decision to work harder on improving performance

Arma is a bestseller so I don't think the monetary argument works. I highly doubt that population is anything noteworthy.

One thing I noticed, you seem to have ghosting going on in your video (see image): Do you use Sony Vegas to edit? When you place your clips in the timeline, right click them and select "Disable Resample" (or similar, I don't use Vegas anymore so I can't remember the name) and it shouldn't happen anymore.
Just finished the campaign for the new DLC. It was fun. Ran like absolute fucking shit but fun nonetheless.
