I like all the different sound stuff. Birds, dying horses, gunshots, all give away your position. My number one complaint is that the Butcher is way too easy to cheese.
It all depends on the location, honestly. I don't think the bosses are inherently difficult to fight, it's more in conjunction with PvP.
hello newpunch. My banishing streak is going haywire.
Yeah? Were you able to get a max level hunter so far?
I've had 2 maxed out hunters now, but my streak ended last night with a ambush, was caught mid-reload. I'm surprised it went for as long as it did, truly the key is to eliminate at least 4 hunters because then you run the gap of the rest being killed by mobs, escaped or too cowardly to get the bounty.
Damn, looks like I was holding you back haha. Was that all solo?
nah it was duos and don't worry about it lol
Only ever came close to banishing once, some guy blasted me at the exit point though. This was duo but my other dude died helping me kill the butcher (RIP bro). I do suck at seeing other players but I am taking my sweet time. Question: Are all clues linked to the same players or are they different for each individual, I can't quite figure it out due to one time doing solo (which I mainly do) I got a clue and people started firing into the building I was in and no damn prone, only crouch, I got wrecked. Like I would have made it out anyway! Other times though I seem to fly through the clues and attempt to escape, only to yet be killed by someone. I've played maybe 20~ games so far about 6 with others and only managed to extract twice. I must be doing something wrong. I go for high health recruits, sell the lights, dynamite etc. Keep only a Winfield, sidearm being a dinky shotgun and knife as standard. How do I actually live!
Theres clues on every compound if I recall. Players can have the same compounds as you or different compounds marked as their next one. By the way, I'd steer clear of the handcannon. You're basically in melee range by the time that thing works. Revolver will up your winfield ammo(They both use the compact ammo pool and add their pools together)
@joshthesmith You have the ability to play solo but you really shouldn't. It's not so much about taking your sweet time (though it helps) as much as managing your speed so you don't accidentally trigger crows/horses/caged animals. Running has a huge trigger radius for those but walking is much more silent and still reasonably fast. Each compound has one or two clues, you usually spot the closest one in dark vision but it's not the only one that exists. Clues are shared between all players, and multiple groups can use the same clue (but you'll see if a clue has been interacted with if the portal is already open). If you want to stand a reasonable chance to stay alive you gotta bring in at least a health syringe and a medkit, if only shared between a duo. Also PLAY IN DUO.
Add me if you want me to show you the ropes and tips n tricks! Gladly play with any of ya. Grim_2o0o on Steam. Just about got all my hunters on max level, almost time to retire 'em. Been having a good run with my friend. -Despite- us being the loudest in the entire match from startling everything, shooting our guns but somehow we still end up on top. Although there's a clear difference with Night people and Day people, day people tend to be more aggressive with bosses, cause camping on daytime is more rewarding cause you can catch people before they even see you, while at night it's more an equal playing ground.
Didn't know it was that useless haha. I usually kept it around for knocking down any large enemies that get too close. Think I will take up your idea of having a pistol, more ammo can never hurt! @StrawberryClock Yeah 20 games in I realise stay away from anything that makes noise, I only ever run if I absolutely have to as well. Mainly crouching somewhere checking the surroundings! Good to know, now I can camp inside of them and get hunter kill XP before I activate it heh. I stopped bringing health syringes with me since they were draining my funds (being unable to extract)... Surely playing solo will eventually make me better. Eventually. @Grim_2o0o I wouldn't want to hold you back! Ha.
The game is just not meant to be played solo. Having someone watching your back will increase your effectiveness tenfold, if only because getting downed won't be a death sentence.
It's cool! I might be of competitive mind but I enjoy playing the game. Also god I love the Uppercut. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107214/4132d53c-8429-4684-aaae-201a37e785fd/yeet.mp4
Are there plans for a co-op only experience? Seems to be the perfect slow-paced thriller.
That was the original game plot for Hunt: Horror of the Gilded Age, which was just a third-person HUNT Co-op, guess that went nowhere?
It's not unfeasible but you get a very substantial XP and Cash boost if you extract with a buddy. The game is really meant to be played with a partner.
I took the advice from a lot of people here and managed to stay alive, kill a hunter + find 2 clues. Got my man up to level 4 using Winfield and pistol (pistol saved my ass). I then did a match with a partner (new character just to be safe), he just followed me and said "300" where a shot was fired and I said "Okay?" we kept on going anyway and he kept repeating the direction of shots fired as if I didn't know! Then unfortunately we stumbled upon a couple of players with the Butcher bounties on them. He opened fire, so I did too. Hunter with the bounty had one hell of a shot, I was hid behind a tree and he downed me in a oner. My partner proceeded to patch himself up 1 meter away from me and decided to try and kill them himself leaving me there. Solo worked better with the advice I was given, a partner like that is a distraction from the real mission. He prematurely fired and got us both killed and failed to pick me up when I could have helped? I supposed it depends who you are with but I really don't have much luck either way, apart from the help I got here on doing Solo. A lot more fun and my heart was pounding out my chest after the firefight with the hunter! So with a partner I died in a match that only lasted 5 minutes for me. Solo I survived for half an hour and got my man leveled up to 4 after extraction.
Find actual mates to play with, randos are too unpredictable.
Sorry, I should have specified that you should play with a partner but that randoms are a crapshoot. Even just taking the time to go on the official Hunt discord and coordinating with another player over mic is gonna massively increase your survivability. I always play with my best buddy these days. There's also a few people like @Grim_2o0o in this thread that would be willing to take you under their wing. I don't think it can be overly emphasized how important it is to find a good partner in this game. The entire gameplay is built around buddy teams.
did you make a fucking bird pun i swear to god
Yeah I am done for today anyway, I will have another go and try and find someone better and more coordinated. I am no leader, I need to be taught! Tomorrow if I am able to have time to play I would appreciate some help
It might be hard to swallow but it's a complete coincidence.
yesterday at the airport in frankfurt. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/145200/c141b167-7330-4f4e-8198-917f88104e1b/IMG_8481.jpg
what about an incest pun
Yo hello question does this game need 100% connection all the time to play
kinda since it's MP only.
God damn it
Seems like I forgot to post this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4wDoigzafs
I can't play Hunt anymore since my friend's family share got messed up so I'm kinda just going through this thread to get my fix StrawberryClock, when your duo went down could he hear your sounds? It seemed weird that he mentioned a firebomb when you threw yours, a reload when you reloaded and a firefight when you got into one. I was super confused.
