Yeah I wasn't sure what the deal with that was.
In duos, your mates get DBNO unless they only have 1 life bar left which would equal in instant death, but yeah they can hear spatial sounds still, which is kinda why people use outside comms to further communicate, cause in-game VOIP doesn't let you speak when dead.
How bad is the games optomization? How would it run on a 960?

FYI, you can shoot through almost anything made out of wood (including trees).
I didn't know you can shoot through trees. Where did I miss an opportunity to shoot through wood that made you reply? I want to improve.
Ye the various calibers have varying degree of damage fall-off from bullet penetration, although chunky swamp trees aren't exactly ideal penetrable targets, however I do think the game can differ from the center mass of a tree to the outer mass, so like the very edge of a tree can be shoot thru afaik. Compact offers very little to no penetration, basically a love tap thru planks, still worth trying tho' Medium gives more promising results, being able to go thru thicker wood and thin sheet metal. Long is great for this, can set off barrels in 1 hit even with bullet penetration, amazing for cheeky kills. Special .500 Nitro Express goes thru 2 players even so I wouldn't be surprised if this fucking thing goes thru brick.
Just whenever somebody goes behind an obstacle consider shooting through the obstacle.
Also goddammit I can't tell if the crosshairs are merely a suggestion for where the bullets go cause even at point blank ranges it's like "nope, sorry, just barely missed him!" unless I am somehow sticking my gun thru the bastard I don't know what the heck.
New lil trailer thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCsSk1bNzDA
Also, the test server they have going is fairly promising, finally getting smooth FPS that doesn't deteriorate over time. Hopefully it'll come to the live build soon enough.
Yeah it's weird, you don't want to count on it too much.
Has Crytek finally learned how to program netcode? In the Crysis days, their games were full of hackers because they made everything run clientside
Well, it's not the worst netcode I've ever seen. It gets the job done but the lack of network smoothing really bothers me.

New blog post on the weapon mechanics. Contains the bullet velocity for all caliber types.
fuck off I knew bullets had speed, always felt off firing some guns. Nice to finally get some ~data~
You couldn't tell bullets were projectiles? I mean, especially with the compact bullets you had to lead like a madman. It just nice to know that the long bullets are hella fast.
Yes I knew bullets had travel time but no bullet drop, I just didn't know the speed differential.
baller, I'm not getting tired of the game any time soon but I'm not gonna say no to new stuff
A new Test Server patch! Some real beefy stuff in here, I love all the new cover. https://www.huntshowdown.com/news/a-letter-from-louisiana https://steamcommunity.com/games/770720/announcements/detail/1655513946221803041
Wow, that's a big patch. I'm not sure how I feel about making so that all hunters start with max health. I felt it was kinda part of the experience to get into a multiple bounty map just to kill one boss to put your health at nominal levels. Not to mention they made weapons deadlier to compensate. At least they replaced the pump jockey perk by Bulletgrubber which works on all weapons.
Eh, not sure I like the new balance. They basically gave everybody max heath but buffed weapon damage meaning combat is way more deadly (but it feels like it's impossible to react to ambushes now). The new weapon categories are technically more balanced but makes weapon loadouts less varied. Basically everything is WAY more expensive as well including Tier 2 & 3 Hunters but they are way WAY less useful (they never come with good weapon combos and you no longer have a health advantage). I kind of feel like progression is much less meaningful because you don't have to upgrade health anymore as tier 1 and it feels basically useless to save up money with economy loadouts. No more playing defensively after buying a new cheap hunter, I felt like it added to the thrill and the sense a real victory when you managed to get out of dodge with an no-upgrade tier 1. Then you'd get to make a strategic choice with how you bough health chunk. Would you buy smaller health chunks to lessen the risk on death or would you buy the big health chunks to be able to be more agressive? Also, banishing a boss now replenishes your health (which I agree) but I also think it gives you back a health chunk if you're missing any (don't think I agree with that). Still, I got massive performance improvements on my end. New guns, tools and consumables are cool. Map changes seem nice, UI improvements as well. The new combo reward is always good. TL;DR: New Test Server Patch makes hunter progression less meaningful and messes with gun balance in a bad way but new content and polish is nice.
I feel like the pacing is a bit all over the place now though.
Is there no Facepunch discord for this game? I'm looking for people to play with. Only played a couple matches. Very first game I played with a random and we killed the butcher but got ambushed trying to escape the lair.
Your best bet is probably to join the official Hunt: Showdown Discord server.
This game's a lot of fun. I was a bit hesitant at first but after getting to bloodline 20 I'm hooked. Nothing more exciting than trying to protect my rookie partner from four other hunters with the Romero!
