I still haven't completed it but I forgot what side I chose, you want me to hit you up on steam when I'm home? In the meantime there's plenty of useful quests that can get you started. ALSO, does anyone know any better ways of f2p (OSRS) moneymaking besides iron ore, yews, and cowhide? :v:
1. Get Crafting to level 8 2. Buy and craft gold bars into Gold Amulet (u) 3. ???? 4. Profit (Sell the gold amulet (u))

is anybody really surprised
Oh wow, I lurk DS Reddit occasionally and people are always saying that "Darkscape will be revived when Jagex gives it another push!" "Darkscape is still in beta that's why not a lot of people play." etc. People on Reddit are really having a shitfit about DS closing... I can see why people are angry. Jagex didn't really try with Darkscape, almost no development or support post release. I hope the OSRS team can do something interesting with DMM for people who want a PVP focused game.
So is Deadman the osrs equivalent of darkscape? Does this mean deadman goes too?
So is Deadman the osrs equivalent of darkscape? Does this mean deadman goes too?
No
So is Deadman the osrs equivalent of darkscape? Does this mean deadman goes too?
No, DMM is getting a large update end of March. Pretty much becoming a seasonal event type of game mode.
No, DMM is getting a large update end of March. Pretty much becoming a seasonal event type of game mode.
I'll be playing it on the first restart but I honestly have doubts about it maintaining popularity. DMM is disproportionately fun in the early game but it suffers in the late game. Hopefully seasons can mitigate that.
I just assume the only reason Darkscape came about is probably from some ulterior motive, like people using Beta servers to gamble. then jagex had an idea that they should fork the servers, give it an edgy paintjob, add in shadowy skyboxes and actually add variance to combat. so stuff like Halberd's increased reach were implimented to Combat techs from suggestions from Darkscape. as far as it went, it actually forced people to use the content even if it was all-pvp. Even myself wasn't that bothered by stuff like the EoC beta, or the NXT beta* for various reasons and only really logged on to get the beta tester suit and that's pretty much it. * [sp]only pretty much disliked it because you couldn't transfer the java cache over, fixed screen mode was locked, every setting was turned on from ultra distance and crap like mouse cursors. moment stuff like Swiftkit act as a applet-holder, i don't think people would hate NXT as much since stuff like IRC and one-press screenshots is so good.[/sp]
I knew Darkscape was a pointless and bad idea and said so from the start, but everyone had a go at me. Nice to know I'm having the last laugh.
EDIT: The lack of Gizmos for Pickaxes is probably because they don't want Traehaearn Rune hours to be overpowered, despite not even starting on the Smithing revamp yet, once they release new high level ores, no one would want to mine Rune if the value is inevitably pushed down along with it's level to 50.
The lack of augmentable pickaxes is due to the fact that it would take some major coding to add pickaxes and they don't want to do a bunch of work that will go to waste when the have to tear it all apart for the mining/smithing rework. So we'll get them after that.
Smithing seems kind of a mess, level 70 has already been standardized as early high-game. the Pickaxe mechanic for mining is fine as is, though the real issue is trying to shoehorn in new ores/bars in a reasonable order without having devalue existing items. imagine today's abyssal whips if people could simply produce 2 tier 70 Daggers. with that said, personally i think they should do a slight equipment squish. Crafting should probably add armor patches, or breaking down existing mage/range armor to reconstitute them into tiers beyond 70, at best they should reach 75. weaponry/shields could probably go to 80. Chaotic Weapons could probably be slotted with Dragon weapons to grant them their spec and increase the level to 82. slotting the weapon in a Ports item would increase the level from 85 to 87. Power Class (Sirenic, Malevolent, Tectonic) armors should gain set effects but their level would be pushed down from 90 to 88. GWD2 items should probably sink original GWD items for charges or go with the Raids way of armor: have regular drops, and Primordial drops rarely from hard mode that requires a regular piece of armor that becomes soulbound. (they'll probably need armor pieces/hilts to recharge. but they'll have reduced consumption if in Priff, Minigames or Raids) The Reefwalker Cape should probably diverge, could just be simple as combining it with a Fire/Tokhaar cape for bonuses, or add attractor/spirit cape to it for the utility+minor pray/defensive stats. And on point of the Tool Gizmos, they mentioned Pickaxes and Axes as far back as the original invention BTS, but never added them; they themselves are already in the game complete with models and examines, just locked out from general usage. but shouldn't Fishing get a revamp first so that it's more in line with the logical progression of skills like Woodcutting/Mining itself? fishing spots seems more harder with each type of fish unlocked whereas the other 2 skills has alternate training methods, potion effects and actual tools. the fishers themselves are limited to a few types of rod, hand-fishing, harpoons...and what looks like some sort of Hoover Harpoon in that video last week. could just be reasoned that at least Rods jumped from regular to Crystal in 1 update and couldn't have anything else other than a 10% chance of getting a fish, presumably due to the whole lacking tiers thing. Even something as simple as implementing updates from OSRS could make fishing slightly ergonomic, maybe you catch Bloated Fish that can be gutted for lesser fish, or a Dungeoneer's skinning knife which not only adds an extra hide x% of the time from kills, but also breaks down boots/gloves into leather scraps+crafting xp. and there's Seaweed Nets, that just breaks down, even when filling them up; copper wire is arguably one of those obscure Member items that doesn't see much use, like Iron Spits. nothing like spinning some Dorgesh Wire or anything. (except beads of the dead)
Can I get some advice for OSRS? I have a main acc that is also supposed to be a range tank, the stats are 60/61/55/78, not sure about mage and prayer is like 43. Should I still try to pursue a range tank build? Is it viable now? My friend says I should just make this acc a main and just try to 99/99/99/99 it. I don't know, maybe that's a better idea. I don't think I would make a good PKer.
-snip-
I honestly feel that an general skilling rework is in the mix at some point. Smithing and agility are defenitely big ones, but you bring up a lot of good points for other skills.
Only thing i could imagine for Agility boils down to either reducing item conversion times, or "more shortcuts". originally Agility was just for getting around the world since you could only either Walk, teleport or use things like Boats back in RSC. with RS2 you could use it to increase the energy regen rates and more shortcuts were added for getting through dungeons quicker or just for semi-personal killing areas (like Polypore + Dung). it was good that it had some influence in Fishing and eventually thieving. still didn't feel major for both since multi pickpockets only mattered for Master Farmers, and you only get minute str+agi xp from barehanding fish with the occasional extra harpoon fish. you only got fishing XP for 1 of the fish. Maybe they'll just tie it into the Mining revamp if for some reason they're not bothered to move the existing mines' rocks around since Rune wouldn't be considered as a rare ore anymore. resulting in lots of mining sites being old-content. stick some crevices, or doublebag skilling requirements by placing them inside resource dungeons. guess there's dual-wielding attuned Crystal items for the 12% (at 99 agi) to do 25% more damage, always Elven Invention when that comes out.

My pre-EOC ranged tank was 70/70/80 with 99 Ranged, 70 Prayer and 94 Magic. On OSRS keep your prayer at 44(Eagle Eye) or 52(Smite) Get Magic and Ranged as high as possible, you'll want 99 Ranged which means that your Magic level won't have any effect on your combat level. Defence is up to you. You could stay at 75 Ranged to save a few combat levels or just go for 99. Ranged tanks are fun for clan PKing, I can't stand the playstyle when doing 1v1 fights in Edgeville. If I was you I'd just make a main, especially if you don't know if you'll like the playstyle or PKing in general. You could just make one in the future and fund it with your badass main account if you really want to try one out.
Will you be my friend? I have lots of questions and would be annoying though so I understand if you don't. Add me Elnar0.
I'll make sure to add you when I log on later. My IGN is Country Mac
So I hit a bit of a milestone today, at least technically I say technically because due to leap years my account is unofficially ten years old today. I will have to wait until at least Sunday for it to be official at least in my eyes. I have to admit it hasn't been ten years continuously as I took a break between April 2010 and February 2015 only returning to do holiday events and even that stopped eventually.
Oh my fucking god, I hadn't played since January and I just tried checking my account. Apparently it was hijacked and permabanned for macroing. I've had this account for almost 10 years, and there's nothing I can do to get it back. :blaze: [editline]6th March 2016[/editline] Whoever hijacked it bought membership too, bloody hell. Well, I guess this is it. [editline]6th March 2016[/editline] Is it just me or does Jagex have no kind of support ticket system or way of contacting them? There's no way for me to find out what exactly happened.
In my experience I had to use the support ticket function without being logged in. Macro bans don't let you put in support tickets for some retarded reason

Started playing 2007scape, we got a clan or something.

You know there's 2-factor authentication available? [editline]asdf[/editline] How do I fast 100k on a forgotten account?
Never knew Hans told character age. Neat! [t]http://puu.sh/nxJOl.jpg[/t] As a side note, this game looks ridiculous at 4k...
Started playing 2007scape, we got a clan or something.
There's a Facepunch Clan room thats never used.
I wonder how hard it is to maintain a subscription through bonds?
if you can make ~2.5 million in old school or ~10 million in rs3 within the 15 days of membership the bonds give you, you should be fine
I wonder how hard it is to maintain a subscription through bonds?
Depends on your levels. I'm pretty high level and I can get a bond in 2-3 hours.
