start training Slayer instead of just grinding on 1 mob
This is what my brother told me when I asked him how to level up my combat stats. But I want someone to explain it so I better understand, why does Slayer level your combat stats faster?
it doesn't. higher slayer = better monsters = better loot = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ so DO IT
just got back into rs so much has changed, literally no one skills anymore
just got back into rs so much has changed, literally no one skills anymore
most skill places have changed, but also the mindset of playing rs has changed a lot. most people who still play care about maximum efficiency and little else.
New leveling methods. Nobody really cuts Yew trees anymore.
Even if there's new ways to skill it still feels empty, I remember fighting over cutting/firemaking/fishing at much else. Shit was intense.
Even if there's new ways to skill it still feels empty, I remember fighting over cutting/firemaking/fishing at much else. Shit was intense.
it still happens in osrs if that means anything
is there any clear info on the number of players in RS3 and OSRS btw?
is there any clear info on the number of players in RS3 and OSRS btw?
total for jagex services: currently in old school: osrs has been a bit more than half the runescape community for a long time
Might start an UIM sometime soon, not sure. Anyone made one before?
OSRS also has a ton of bots, as botting isn't really rewarding in RS3. Which skews the numbers quite a bit.
most skill places have changed, but also the mindset of playing rs has changed a lot. most people who still play care about maximum efficiency and little else.
I wouldn't say that's true. The playerbase used to be shit circa 2007ish. These days I find a lot of people in it just to have fun; and very generous besides. Some dude who was a high divination level was so amused by my remarks as he farmed fish from one of his divination bubbles (Whoa, so that's what divination is good for, huh?) he basically just went to his bank and gave me four hundred cooked swordfish. What a bro.
OSRS also has a ton of bots, as botting isn't really rewarding in RS3. Which skews the numbers quite a bit.
the bots also increase dramatically on weekends which is why i drop tons of money into resources on mondays and tuesdays and resell them on fridays easy cash lol
Like which?
Probably stuff like Yew logs, Red Chinchompas and other resources. As the people who run the bots will dump their hauls on sunday evening/monday morning before Jagex starts cleaning up. Prices will temporarily go down a bit and then increase throughout the week, until friday when the bots start back up and the cycle repeats. Been going on for a long time, since Jagex doesn't work over the weekends(atleast not the part that does all the anti-botting measures) so people create dummy accounts during the week, train their stats up(using botting software ofc.) and then bot all weekend, sell all the resources and they have easily made enough money to cover the bond + extra.
My first attempt at this in over ten years (never was able to get it as a kid), can't believe I was just as much of a nervous wreck this time too lol.
I've been thinking of playing Runescape again. I'd probably start over, to get a clean slate and possibly skill-only in the beginning. Is RS3 as dead/bad as they say? After seeing my friend show me all the abandoned minigames, I'm not sure if I'm better off on the 2007 version.
you'll probably find more people doing the older minigames in old school than in rs3
you'll probably find more people doing the older minigames in old school than in rs3
depends. theres that thallar minigame that kinda gives older ones some traffic, but then again ive barely done that
I've been thinking of playing Runescape again. I'd probably start over, to get a clean slate and possibly skill-only in the beginning. Is RS3 as dead/bad as they say? Outside of stuff like Pest Control and Castle Wars you're not really going to find many people at all. RS3 isn't dead, it's arguably more "alive" than OSRS considering OSRS has a huge botting problem which inflates player numbers. But the mindset of players in both games have changed drastically in the last 5-8 years, since today people play for efficiency and to gain as much EXP in the shortest amount possible. A large part of the community count their EHP(Efficient hours played) and track them religiously. No one is forcing you to pick one, a lot of us play and enjoy both versions of the game for different reasons. But if I had to recommend one it would probably be OSRS as RS3 is going in a direction I really dislike and it feels like a shell of it's former self. Playing RS3 just makes me sad at this point.
shit about raids finally a pvm update that isn't just bossing exclusively for max combat level nerds [editline]29th June 2016[/editline] that insignia shit's gotta go though
Finally did Legends' Quest and finished RFD for the first time in my illustrious/sporadic 12 year RS career. Now time to get that fire cape

Just found my stash of Runescape pics from 2007. I'm feeling nostalgic now. Me and my friends all used to hang out in our clan chat and have house parties and not take the game so seriously. We were a very tight knit group.
So if the market floods over the weekend and prices are at their lowest at the start of the week, I should always wait for Friday to sell anything?
No, since there are only a few resources in the game which are viable for this type of botting. And it's not like prices change significantly in a short amount of time, a small dip where they try to sell off all of their resources to transfer the gold to mule accounts. I spoke to a guy who tested this and he managed to buy a Red Chinchompa for around a 150 gold under market value, how true this is I don't know but I trust the guy. This only has a small effect on a few isolated items for a short amount of time. It's nothing to panic about or really even think about much since it's been going on for a long time. Bots pretty much make Runescape go around.
Was grinding revenants in Forinthry with a friend. Currently LV 81 combat. But some guy LV84 attacked me while wearing full zamorak plate and wielding dual rune scimitars. I had full dragon and a Bandos godsword. Was funny.
I just got into rs07 whilst having played the newer version in the past. I've heard about gp conversions from people spamming at the GE. How legit are these sorts of people, am I likely to get scammed from transferring money over from the newer version? Thanks in advance Scratch that. Turns out PJ_swaps is a good place for this sort of thing
The new Albion game reminded me so much of runescape I just had to check in this thread
I wonder, have any other games tried to do runescape's skill system?
Not with any success.
it's bad enough that steve assigns black demons every other task... but how am I ever going to finish it if they drop clues every 10 kills?
Just curious, but does anyone here play an ironman? If so, what do you think of it?
