I know you're technically supposed to use dragon defender and whip on essentially all slayer tasks.. but damn, dfs + hasta combo looks so much cooler.
I know this is a long shot since the chat and thread are so dead, but anyone want to do a few runs of Barbarian Assault with me? I'm Raycaster on there.
Is oldschool or RS3 more active?
Not sure about rs3, but on oldschool, at any given time half of those numbers are probably bots.
probably true for both, rs3 makes much more money with microtransactions tho [editline]28th July 2016[/editline] osrs is much better than rs3 if thats what you're asking

I actually do like RS 3 but i do feel a bit of nostalgia for old school. I kinda wanna try it f2p but i know f2p is crap and can't be fucked to shell out for another membership.
Monkey madness is kinda out of my league. I had to get a friend to complete it for me back in 06/07/08 whenever it was.
Use this and milk all the xp you can, it's good to jump as many lvls as you can to lessen the grind: http://2007.runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Quest_experience_rewards On my ironman I just did Waterfall Quest asap and every quest I could for the skills I wanted fast (which is fun on an ironman, it forces you to explore and go find/make items yourself instead of just buying shit) to boost my levels up, it really saved a lot of time. Monkey Madness is easily doable at lower-med level if you're able to equip green dhide armor, an explorer's ring, an ardy cloak, and bring some decent food and anti poisons (which you could just buy from the jungle). Oh and protect from melee on top of that and you're pretty much 95% good.

they've been practically shitting new bosses all over old school and raids are coming soon where have you been
they've been practically shitting new bosses all over old school and raids are coming soon where have you been
you cant make meaningful boss fights and raids with osrs's combat system. or, lack of a combat system.
Um Jad, nomad, Corp beast and you know the raiding skill (dung) worked with OSRS combat system
those arent actually difficult though, not compared to actual raids in rs3
I mean I havent played any of the new osrs bosses but I remember people talking about how extremely easy they are. the fact is, when you have nothing to your combat system except for a left click (and a special attack) theres only so much you can do with bosses, compared to a system thats actually like an mmo-lite. if they figure out how to get an osrs raid on the difficulty tier of the raid system in rs3, or vorago, then thats cool. but they wont. jad for example, is extremely easy once you do it once. the first time is going to be rough because you arent used to prayer switching but when you have that down, its literally a piece of cake. corp beast is even easier since you just swarm it with fucking zammy spears, theres no strategy or tactics with that boss. and dungeoneering was never focused on the bosses, they never had any unique bits to them except for a couple, that are very simple.
Tried out RS3 for a little bit, as I never actually played it before (just 2007scape). It's actually pretty good so far. I don't know how grindy it is compared to OSRS, but it can't be worse, right? The voice-acting kinda turns me off a bit though. Doesn't really fit.

I love OSRS, but the skilling really got on my nerves after awhile. I'll stick around in RS3 for sure then.
its a give and take. while I hated grinding skills like mining and agility, which never really got better with levels, it definitely trivializes a bunch of the game, especially protean items (treasure hunter only :^) ) which give you a crapload of bonus xp. not to mention double xp weekends. its cool, but I miss the chill grind back in 06 and 07, when not as many people cared about maximizing xp rates and 'xp waste' wasn't a meme.
If you have membership on RS3 it applies to oldschool too, you can play both versions with the same account.
Oh shit really? Fuck yeah.
Died at barrows 4 months ago in sweet, expensive armor. Color drains from my face... "hello would you like to buy all your items back?" Thanks, Death. Thanks. I'm not sure if I like that mechanic.
awesome
I used to play rs back around 2007-2010, lost all passwords etc think i gave away all my gold on mains. Started a new account now with the only mindset of making money, not achievements, levels etc and managed to get around a mil a day. Anyone else make accounts for one purpose only?
Jesus christ this took a long time (like 6-7 hours of constant fighting sandcrabs) but I finally got from 50 to 60 attack.
I'm trying to merchant/flip items on the GE in oldschool so I can get enough for a bond, but man is it going slow. Can anyone here who does this regularly or has in the past help me out? I've never done this before and I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I've got 1.6m to use.

Then, buy and sell a few of that item to find a good buying and selling price that maintains a balance of profit and time. A profit of at least 0.5% and a flipping time of 30-60 minutes works for me. My friend likes to flip chaos runes, but note that they only have a buy limit of 12,000 every 4 hours. It's very important to know the buy limit of items, which you can find here, and also to keep track of which items you've hit the buy limit of. You may end up juggling between several items as you flip. Much like farming, flipping is a steady and supplemental source of income even with small cash stacks.
I can't craft gold bracelets, as I'm not a member (hence why I'm saving up for a bond) Thanks for the tips though, you two.
I think you can craft gold amulet (u) as a non-member. I did that for my first mil
I think you can craft gold amulet (u) as a non-member. I did that for my first mil
do you happen to remember how many amulets it's possible to smelt per hour?
I can't craft gold bracelets, as I'm not a member (hence why I'm saving up for a bond) Thanks for the tips though, you two.
My bad, I thought they were F2P. I guess Gold Amulets are decent, not as much money as gold bracelets but they're more XP. I'm smithing gold bracelets at the Edgeville furnace(Trying to get my crafting up and I'm cheap) and I'm creating roughly 1200 bracelets per hour. Not sure if the Edgeville furnace is F2P or not since in RS3 it required the Varrock armour.
