My hunter and thieving are both level 1, should I try a different approach?
hunter doesn't take long to get to 50, and implings are probably the best low requirement money maker in the game, you don't even need money to do it
daily reminder that cool kids hang out in the "Knight Jake" cc
Guys add me, my RSN is The Exigent

wow that looks so incredibly unrecognizable from what i knew before i knew that RS had changed a lot but never thought it could look that different
wow that looks so incredibly unrecognizable from what i knew before i knew that RS had changed a lot but never thought it could look that different
The UI is customizable, fortunately.
wow that looks so incredibly unrecognizable from what i knew before i knew that RS had changed a lot but never thought it could look that different
RS3 is unfortunately a shell of the game it once was.
There's quite a lot of UI changes you can make, which I enjoy. It's not fair to say Runescape is a shell of its former self when they literally have the old outdated version available to play. In terms of games where you do nothing but click stuff, RS3 and OSRS are the best you can find.
its just a different type of game now. rs3 thrives with bosses, quests, and high level content in general, while old school gives you that nostalgic factor as well as things like pvp and a lack of bullshit microtransactions.
its just a different type of game now. rs3 thrives with bosses, quests, and high level content in general, while old school gives you that nostalgic factor as well as things like pvp and a lack of bullshit microtransactions.
old school gives you bosses (1 new) quests and high level content though. it is totally the focus of the game. sure the nostalgia brought people back but it's not that that keeps them playing
old school gives you bosses (1 new) quests and high level content though. it is totally the focus of the game. sure the nostalgia brought people back but it's not that that keeps them playing
there are barely any good old school bosses compared to ones in rs3, which has things like a new god wars dungeon, raiding, a huge solo boss that gets stronger every time you fight it, etc. same with all the new quests. it is barely the focus. especially since their endgame city is just a mishmash of every sort of thing they could put together with a bunch of empty space. (not to mention that the team constantly listening to anything people say/putting up polls for literally everything added means that the game is slowly, very slowly, dying to feature creep of its own.) [t]http://i.imgur.com/WAaBBgA.png[/t] its true that nostalgia isnt the biggest reason why people play oldschool. microtransactions, feature creep, lack of a 'community', a new combat system, dead pking, theres loads of reasons. but nostalgia is a pretty big reason why people are still playing. you would never introduce someone to the game by saying 'oh yea the actual game is crap, here play this 8 year old version instead.' theres going to be barely any actual new players, only people who played rs long ago who want to experience it again without those buttugly face graphics. (but there are a lot of those)
I agree that Zeah is a mess, but you're insinuating that people who play osrs only go there because of nostalgia? No-one is going to play a game for months because of a nostalgia rush, you might have the first week but after that it's gone.

Anyone interested in teaming up for Graador farming in old school?
Anyone interested in teaming up for Graador farming in old school?
I would if I had stats worth PvM-ing with. By the way, Chronicle: Runescape Legends is really fun. Bought it yesterday, already sunk 6 hours and 20 dollars into it.
I like OSRS because it's actually the game I wanted to play in the first place. The Microtrans, the furry pandering and such are part of it; but I could have dealt with all of that if they maybe left something for me to enjoy but they didn't. The combat system really offers nothing for me, I would have liked more interesting bosses; but I don't like the weapons becoming homogenized and multiple attack styles, unique attack animations and actually decent special attacks being replaced with boring uninspired button mashing in an attempt to emulate WoW. ESPECIALLY when I'm trying to kill hundreds of the same monsters in a given day, the fact that they had to add multiple options to automate the entire thing and servers to avoid it entirely and an entire player population that eclipses the main game with its best selling point being avoiding it is proof enough that EoC backfired HARD. Then there's massive change in attitude RS3 took on. Suddenly there were max capes, quests and areas that require maxed skills to do; suddenly mastering a skill stopped being something significant you could do if you were really dedicated and wanted it to something completely pedestrian you HAD to do. Then they just kept tossing in more and more power creep at an aggressive rate, the SGS I had spent so much time saving up for became fucking worthless and I suddenly I felt no point in continuing RS3 at all because it just felt like anything I had dumped hours into to achieve was going to be trounced the next month. I don't have the time to play a game where the end game lacks any sort of concreteness and anyone can pretend they have the best armor in the game or their fursona by just making one micro transaction. RS3 feels like DBZ or the simpsons.
I love how you can tell when the nostalgia is talking. Weapons aren't actually homogenized at all, since almost all monsters have a specific weakness to combat types again. Not to mention 'multiple attack styles' didn't matter at all outside of different xp gains, unique attack animations never got taken out, and special attacks are still in the game, and are still pretty damn good for the most part. And runescape 3's combat might be uninspired, but....so is the original rs combat. How is sitting there and literally doing nothing while your character hits for you not uninspired? It's literally the laziest combat you can have in a game. They let you automate it from the beginning, because they wanted to keep a normal runescape feel. you can literally do that and ignore everything eoc related, its a pretty poor argument these days. the non-eoc servers are dead as well, because no one gives a shit anymore. Plus, those areas will come to old school as well. Tons of people want those. Theres already a higher level city, and there will be more in old school, as well as max capes to go along with the high level achievement diaries. As well as old school is getting its own power creep, you're just ignoring it? literally all the gear that they've released has been better, at least for the most part, than previous gear. Not to mention the rs3 lategame does have concreteness, especially compared to osrs, I dont even understand that point.
rs3 is just bloated with so much useless shit and dead/outdated content that it started to wear on me and nothing I achieved ever felt like it mattered cuz it just unlocked even more useless and dead content. like "wow now I can go to darkmeyer and do...stuff?" or "hey cool now I can put an altar on a pig and make bacon??" I just got sick of it all eventually
Naught do you hate osrs?
no? I know why people like it. and rs3 has a lot of problems. but I dislike it when people complain about petty shit that literally doesnt matter in the game, as well as stuff thats going to end up in their game as well (and they'll defend it then) like how people complain about rs3 having content creep when the exact same thing is happening with osrs with things like zulrah. its just happening slow...just like rs3. and yet people are now defending that even though its something that they where against. the same will happen with max capes and extremely high level areas, which will end up being put into osrs in the future.
I dont see how people think combat is better in OSRS compared to RS3 outside of nostalgia. Its literally just "click on enemy and hit your special attack sometimes". At least RS3 gives you more options. And this is coming from someone who's played Runescape on and off since 2005.
It's more simple and comfortable. I can kill things and post on facepunch at the same time.
but you can do that with rs3, there are two modes that completely automate your combat. [editline]10th August 2016[/editline]
How do you know what the future of osrs will hold? The devs are doing their best to prevent powercreep, they recently just nerfed rewards from the raids coming out so they wouldn't outclass Ahrims.
theres only so much you can do. no game is free from powercreep. this is simply how mmos work. high level players arent going to do high level content if you can get the exact same gear from lower level content.
