Runescape V8 - I don't know, I just wanted a runescape thread that wasn't about the 2007 version
yeah but microtransactions
which has nothing to do with the combat.
The cosmetics themselves don't bother me as much as how membership costs $8 a month and they sell Runecoins in weird amounts for unreasonable prices.
They're a huge deal breaker for me, especially when they're as bad as RS3's micro transactions where you can just buy experience.
I think it ruins the game and I won't be a part of it. If OSRS implements them, I'll find something else to play.
thats more than fair enough. I stopped playing (at least temporarily) because of it. treasure hunter was the worst thing to happen to runescape as a whole.
I dont see how people think combat is better in OSRS compared to RS3 outside of nostalgia. Its literally just "click on enemy and hit your special attack sometimes". At least RS3 gives you more options. And this is coming from someone who's played Runescape on and off since 2005.
OSRS combat is better and more functional on the current RuneTek engine for one major reason, the built in delay. Both version of the game have a built in 0.6 second delay between clicking and performing an action(not accounting for latency issues), this makes the actionbar combat of RS3 feel horribly clunky, they really should have done some major engine work before releasing EoC and the update would have been received better. RS3 only offers you the illusion of option when it comes to combat, you're still going to be stuck with a set rotation of abilities to maximize your DPS. This is not even talking about all the other issues that makes the combat flat & boring such as tierscape and the lack of weapon options.
I've played both versions extensively, I'm maxed on RS3 and I have a high level account on OSRS.

I'm glad they at least decided that lamps from TH/quests etc. wouldn't work on Invention for the first 6 months of the skill, allowing a more natural race to 99/120/200M.
Went to a dispensary on the way home from work and struck up a conversation with the budtender about games we played. Mentioned he played OSRS and just recently maxed his account. So I got his name and now I got a new max buddy to play with [sp]and some delicious nugs to smoke while doing so[/sp] :v:

Damn, hearing all of this talk about being maxed out makes me feel horribly behind :v: my highest skill is 43 :cry:
keris really sucks... it triggered maybe 5 times in an entire task

damn that was cool
well that was painful... don't forget your slayer helm if you want to burst dust devils

I think I'm gonna just do the elites from now on instead of turning them in for masters...
34 -> 60 Herblore.
54 -> 70 Def.
53 -> 60 Att.
51 -> 60 Str.
35 -> 56 Agility.
(Among other skills trained slightly)
Plus the whole Regicide quest series done, I must say my grind the last few days have been more than I expected to do.
Just need to gain some money now and I'll be rocking that bandos armor in no time :excited:
im rocking that bcp but no tassets :c
was hoping the new quickplay for barbarian assault was going to be actual quickplay with matchmaking :(

I mean unless you're doing pvp
Osrs pvp >>>>>>>>>>>>> the nonexistent pvp in that game

I made it to the top of aids mountain! And all it took was my sanity and RSI in every part of my arm.
Does the mining/smithing rework involve better xp rates?
Has anyone else tried that new RuneScape themed cookie clicker?
Has anyone else tried that new RuneScape themed cookie clicker?
Seemed a bit alright initally, but even before the various updates, it seemed pretty cruel. like grinding 40 villagers in Farming? for a quest?!, lost track when they did that large scale reset with a few changes under the hood, but specifically left out the ability to train Slayer for one of those missions..thinking its for Ankous. though now they did another revamp where the character actually skills as they fill up bars which is kinda cool.
I havn't gotten that far year, but i vaguely recall that the ending before the whole artificial roadblock was ENDGAME SPOILERS [sp]Meeting Saradomin ontop of White Wolf Mountain so that you could repeat the whole thing again for some Threads of Fate or some plot token, they didn't add chapter 2/Zamorak yet[/sp], unless they added to that after the Aug 22 update?
Seems a bit too grindy for its own good despite being a story-filled game with objectives and interactive combat, which sounds faithful to an extent on paper. but it's supposed to be an idle game. you got like 5 different villages and 4~ dungeons. even Hyper Hippo's spinoff (to Adventure Capitalist) Adventure Communist feels a bit more groovy in comparison.
I have not heard about this at all. Where can I play it?

At the moment, it's beta code-only. they have a Reddit at least. there was one time where you could show interest in the game on the runescape site and hope to hell that they send a code.
I guess after the success of Chronicle it was only a matter of time before they expanded in to other genres. Cookie clicker clone wasn't what I expected though.
Wintertodt is so fun for some reason. It's not the most efficient way to skill firemaking, but it's a shitton better than just making lines of fires at Varrock or whatever.
my favorite part is the people burning logs right outside the bank of the camp
only recently returned to rs07 a month or so ago, managed to get some fair stats to do some quests and such.
But I have to say, these quests are really enjoyable, I would expect myself to be smashing space to skip all the dialogue, but I find myself reading it all.
cuz you're not an impatient little child anymore

because runescape has some of the best quests in all of gaming and mmos, duh.
Me and a bunch of other people mentioned it on reddit, but the latest runescape MTX promo is just horrible (though one Jmod responded to it). it seems off that the Hanto armor requires so many spins for what's basically an overglorified Hybrid armor set. like for 250~* spins you can get a set of armor that's...
• 70 Hybrid (so you know the stats are crappy)
• Costs more to recover (2m for anything that isn't the boots, hat or gloves, which are 100k) than almost any other single-style item or Akrisae the Doomed's equipment.
• Highly fashionable (subjective, the undead supernatural Samurai aesthetic might be good to some)
• When fully maxed out, you get access to a tier 70 (im guessing regular bow?, Halberd and Staff)
the main problem is that it's...
• Presented as a catch up promotion for people who somehow doesn't have the stats for Player owned Ports when an XP weekend is going to happen in a few weeks.
• the Armor set has a nice look in terms of cosmetics and feels like it should've been used as side dish content for a major release (like the 2nd part of the Arc), perhaps if it wasn't for the other bells and whistles, it could've been easily seen as something anyone could obtain with time without the fear of it being discontinued.*
• That the central focus of the promo was that it could be augmented, and that it gave no clear indication of how many keys it takes to complete.

Like see this map? you'll see this specific map EIGHT whole times (plus the 7 other sets of islands) if you want the whole set of items.
you get the Hat first, then Gloves, Legs, Boots, Plate. afterwards the last 3 is the Staff, Bow and Halberd. you think you get 1 per set of islands...nope, you have to do the entire thing 8 times total. that could be something unimaginable like 40 keys per piece of armor. they dangle it in a way that you get the least visual/useful items first. you want an augmentable item, you'll have to do it 3/5/6/7/8 times, there isn't a set effect that even redeems it compared to Akrisae (cheap, as a tier 70 hybrid set), Crystal (elf thieving, welfare 70's (80's if using attuned Prifddinas ones)) and even Anima Core of Sliske. (grindy as hell, if you have these, you probably have Ports gear. which are basically free. unless you sell excess Inferior equips)
You could look at previous promos like Catch Up Tuesdays, which for the most part are just that. they introduced Light/Dark armors with the first half of The Arc, presumably as a reskin of the Fire/Iceheart armors from a year ago. they both are vanity, but the latter unlocks vanity override versions which makes them pretty signifigant for the collectors, but because it's statless, it's ok. the eeriness is that we've had some pretty exploitive promotions, namely Gemerators (rules about forcing gems wasn't clear, involved guesswork.) Gem Equip tokens themselves essentially became multi-layered rares, giving off the feeling that Jagex anticipated Whales to snag up on them since previous rares like the Fish Mask, Armor of Seasons or even lesser rares (compared to others) like the Sombuero, Chinchompa Pinatas and Mimic Hats (when compared to Mimic Tongue Capes) either fell a lot from their set GE prices or just stood where they've been. though in Gem's case, seems like people just banked on the Gem Cape, probably helps that the tokens unlocks overrides, which means they soulbound to the person unlike the other things.
There's even the questionable changes to the Component Materials to actually construct Armor of Seasons when it takes multiple hours to get 5 (out of 600!) untradable materials to make a single Season's armor, in perspective, for Armor that changes with the season, you need 4 sets of armor, which also makes it tradable. the event only lasted something short like 4 days, so it was pretty much unobtainable unless it was heavily whaled on, which by the end of it, started off around the 90-100m~ mark but now is more like 40m, it was basically a pump and dump and people knew it.
Compare that to the Pet of Seasons promo, where they introduced the ingame timer to prevent people from getting materials too easy (ok justified) where they need to play for 15 minutes in a session, then they start getting something like 20 every 15 which is doable for 600 materials, like the Cloak/Armor/Crown of seasons, the Pet only needed 600 in 1/4 seasons for a non-tradable single-season pet/tradable multi-season pet Token, sure by the end of that promo, the pet token was roughly the same price as a Bond so it was basically something fun for people, Jagex even gave everyone the ability to override it (plus Douglas, basically a Christmas fir tree Pet of Seasons, for free) when Douglas was released.
* By discontinued, i mean like how there's usually some promotion like where they introduce new equipment like Incamdo Pistols (with the other rare pets/vanity things, like balancing wands, or Walking override flippable coins) and have them temporarily less rare for 4~ days then upgrades to a Red-tier item, the Hanto outfit doesn't have this benefit, because it would be unfair to the people who grinded out the promotion initially, even if there were a clear amount of keys to use, there's the odds that they could get miniature prestige tokens. whereas with stuff like the Butterfly promo, it repeated the same map, however everyone started at the same space and the spots for the gems were clear. the amount of keys were defined since it never changed...arguably Jagex might have been banking on people with the intention of hoarding up excess butterfly charges for when the Invention Amnesty is removed and people could gain (half) rewards in the skill, it at least has the potential of returning next Easter. now look at Hanto....it has stats, it has a slightly unbalanced situation just due to the effort it takes and the fact that it can be augmented. the only thing missing would be is what it dismantles into, if it dismantled into materials that are either tiers above tier 70, or it's moderately efficient in some way.
There's basically so much promotional stuff and new minigames and events that I don't know what do with any of it and I always feel I miss out.
I did a bunch of surveys with the very sketchy Earn Keys section of the website and got 52 keys.
It got me the helmet and slight progress into the next item. It's a bit skewed towards people buying keys.
I used to login to Runescape religiously to get holiday events item even if I don't play the game but I don't really bother anymore since 2014 or something when they start to become crappy overlay cosmetics instead of actually cool stuff
