Runescape V8 - I don't know, I just wanted a runescape thread that wasn't about the 2007 version
I did a bunch of surveys with the very sketchy Earn Keys section of the website and got 52 keys.
It got me the helmet and slight progress into the next item. It's a bit skewed towards people buying keys.
i literally cannot navigate the Earn Keys section
So jagex mentioned random stuff during runefest. Menaphos in June as part of an "expansion" update that gradually adds things between every 3 months and in batches of 3's. Slayer is increased to 120 when it hits, there will be a new slayer Dungeon and a quest revolving around Chrondis. (NSFW, Croconipples).

A Evil Dave quest (might be a bottle one?) may have some sort of plot twist similar to the movie Big, Zamorak is probably in there. guess that indirectly spoils the fact that he probably doesn't die in Fate of the Gods 2. (now called Children of Mah) nor does he die during Sliske's Endgame...weird. guess that also implies that he's not going to kill Zaros, or maybe someone else kills him? Children of Mah will use the Enchanted Key to travel back in time to see the moments leading up to Zamorak's attempt to assassinate Zaros. Children of Mah is repeatable but the first completion is Canon, you can repeat it to see how it would've unfolded if you sided with someone else.

Bank Interface update, Solo Boss which is basically an Ambassador of Xau-Tak, Clue Update (better rewards for all tierage) Challenger-tier clues and challenger clues that involves multiple people racing to get it first. more 3rd age items and new godbirds from the clues, one is probably a Zarosian Raven. there is also an Achievement system (similar to World of Warcraft's) and a visual Pet area to show off collection achievements as well as send them off to work Miscellania style. (sounds too similar to the Minion system from RIFT. indirectly similar to WoW's garrison missions)
Oh, and Bik (an Elder God) wakes up!, though in my opinion, going upfront with a visible Elder God just seems like they hit the apex of what they can do. it's like people watch Godzilla movies for Godzilla, there's nothing to expect like him being permanently killed or having one Kaiiju permanently stronger than Godzilla itself.

Guess there's also the Smithing/Mining revamp, and Weather, sounds a little thin for the moment unless Weather has an impact on the Java client.
What would a Mining / Smithing revamp even be?
What would a Mining / Smithing revamp even be?
making them not garbage in relation to combat. mining and smithing are pretty useless in osrs as well outside of maybe one or two things. you can wear rune armor at level 40 defense but cant mine rune ore until level 85 mining and cant smith platebodies until level 99. so what they're planning (last time I heard) is making rune stuff actually level 40-ish (similar to how they do it in dungeoneering) and adding in new ores and materials for higher levels. not going to get level 90 stuff from mining iirc, and its going to be worse than what you'd get for pvming from bosses, but it'll be a good middleground and a reason to level it outside of for questing and the cape.
What would a Mining / Smithing revamp even be?
They initially were planning to move rune down to 40, and introduce Orichalkum (Dragon, Necrite, Invictum and Aetherium as the tier 60/70/80/90 ores/rocks. full sets of armor, pickaxes and Scimitars. Aetherium apparently is def-class HP armor at tier 87 when masterclassed. (im assuming you'd have to be wildly overlevelled. or something weird)
An old post from over a month ago., but since they talked about raising the damage/difficulty of NPCs, armor/weapon usage is probably going to be important. and with Slayer being raised to 120, there's probably some slots to fill somewhere. also forgot that they're also resetting Boss killtime records and adding in highscores/seasons.
but will the xp rates be increased. smithing/mining literally takes years
but will the xp rates be increased. smithing/mining literally takes years
it's possible that rune will be reduced in XP (and definitely alch value) just to give reasoning for higher ores. if anything, they'll probably have to redistribute rocks around the world so that areas that are high level has ores that benefits them greatly. like the Jatizo mine from achievement diaries would look severely underpowered if it still offered adamant/mithril, and there's still the issue with Harmonized rocks in Prifddinas since the area is intended to be a high level zone.
Kind of hoping that if they do go through with it, that they don't needlessly add rocks only to the Wilderness, we don't want another Bakriminel bolt situation again.
I mean even something as small as making Rocks work like trees (higher odds of gems), and veins (higher success odds of rocks) would be pretty divergent as well as introducing a new reward vector. in modern times, there's probably lots of rocks that people used to mine, no longer seem worthwhile due to how close other rocks are to a bank. like i could see people used to mine adamant in elf lands, or mine coal+other rocks near lumby swamp. there's even dead mining sites like the one under the grand tree and the haunted mine.
I'd like a degree of randomness in smithing, wherein you can make gear of higher quality at a higher chance if your level was well above the requirement for the item. I'd also like the ability to smith gear that is higher than your current level, albeit at a reduced defense/attacking power.
Training Agility is such a chore, but I really want that bloody graceful outfit.
Got the Head, Cape and Gloves, that leaves 155 Marks of Grace to go... Well, as well as the outfit with it's various perks, at least I'll get 60 agility out of this and access to the God Wars shortcut, that's always a plus.
I got the quest cape today in OSRS, something that I've wanted since I started playing 11 years ago. Its bittersweet, I'm glad I have it, but now runescape feels a bit smaller. Like I've done it all. I know I haven't, but I always liked quests and now I'm a bit lost. I could work towards achievement diaries or maxing, but it just isn't the same. I don't know, just wanted to share I guess.
trim the cape
what are you guys skilling this dxp? I'm fletching cuz im broke
I might do agility
what are you guys skilling this dxp? I'm fletching cuz im broke
Oh shit double exp time wooo time to go for 99 runecrafting
[editline]24th September 2016[/editline]
Oh fuck i've missed the start of it
I'm already maxed, was thinking just invention. apparently it's 50% more Item xp when killing/skilling things. i also still have the skiller backpack from months ago during Port Sarim invasion, still complete with 50 charges. guessing 2.5% more item xp for 10 minutes would sound a bit small...maybe save that for something that's more afkish/manageable like crabs.
I used to login to Runescape religiously to get holiday events item even if I don't play the game but I don't really bother anymore since 2014 or something when they start to become crappy overlay cosmetics instead of actually cool stuff
This is something osrs does pretty well imo, the grim reaper house theme reward was amazing

Its a pretty nice skill imo, its actually really low click/attention intensive and you can train other skills or watch a movie while doing it

Yeah getting qpc is always rather bittersweet, but osrs has a lot of other great content and stuff of that nature to participate in. I'd personally go for diary cape and music cape and maybe join a clan if I were you
Working on achievement diary cape. Add me up Elnar0 if anyone wants to talk while playing. I'm lonely :( Also I never bossed with people so for that reason also.

Why don't we have a facepunch clan chat?
Because you don't touch yourself at night.
Why don't we have a facepunch clan chat?
there aren't enough of us playing simultaneously for it to be worth it
Why don't we have a facepunch clan chat?
We had a Facepunch clan, but it died since only few people from FP still play actively. A friends chat would be much better since they're cross-game.
Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, finally got full grace and I've almost reached 70 agility too, so that means access to the Saradomin God Wars boss.

Took me till level 10 to 69 to get a full set, but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the long run. :pudge:
Twitch stream revealed more Eastern Lands content
• Bonepicker, costs 25k chimes. apparantly it works like a Charming Imp, except for Bones. (unsure if it works on Muspah Spines, like how Charming Imps works on Spirit Dragon Charms)
• Archiving: archive various mushroom, fungi aswell as bird watch.
• More miniquests, you need Cyclosis to access the batch 2 sidequests and also all of the first half's.
• Divination spots, one is on Cyclosis' Moai head, you can transmute eastern materials into other things, they did mention Tortle bowls. (really though, Tortles are low-tier, high intensity anti-AFK, but you need Bowls to make the Gumbo/Soup to sell for chimes).
• More uncharted island features, with stuff like volcanoes and hills. Islands claimed before the update may spawn with the same stuff plus a few extra bonus spots.
• Port armor Gloves/Boots, possibly with set effects. (unsure if base items, or recipes that you have to make at Ports)
• Bakami, they're basically implings but more jellybean-shaped, apparantly has masks that's valuable. (but didn't mention what they do) catching them all adds the ability for 3x xp or 2x item drops.
• Rebalancing the prices of XP lamps at 10-20% less chimes, also the XP:Chimes from gathering things due to Divination.
• Completely filling out the Fauna/Faunae book may unlock a Crablet pet (possibly others?), the Spirit Dragon is getting updated so that it can be used as an override.
• New Hunter suit, stacks with Yaktwee stick, for a total of 11% XP. again, they didn't mention if it had any special effects, or if it's just a six-piece Onmi-Camouflage suit
• EDIT: Also the Crystal Siphon, when siphoning Crystal tools, they're treated as if they're tier 90 items when drained for Invention XP. they mentioned that someday they may expand on augmentable crystal tools like the Hammer and Tinderbox.
With that said, you should all unlock Cyclosis from player owned ports if you haven't done so already, and grind up a large amount of chimes. they may or may not be coming out with new Scrimshaws, sounded like they just passively talked about them. there's probably much more than what isn't mentioned.
It's all coming on October the 10th.

Made an ironman on osrs and it's quite fun indeed.
I'd make an ironman, but I feel like the fun would only last until I come across an unacceptably high drop rate item, or if I wanted to purchase the next set of armor rather than needlessly grind for it. Though, that's kind of the point, isn't it?
I found Ironman playstyle fun at first, but then you have to spend obscene amount of time obtaining some pretty mediocre and common items.
Runescape is already a chore most of the time, I don't want to do more senseless grinding.
The next part of the Arc update, with the procedurally generated islands and all, actually caught my eye more than anything else they released over the past couple of years. The whole Eastern Lands update actually motivates me to improve my new character again just so i can experience it one day. I left RuneScape, but from times to times i get a nostalgia wave so big it physically hurts and i need to play the game again.
BTW i hate grinding so i'll try to power level everything i can without doing quests or anything, then when i have a high level, enjoy the game's adventure without stopping to level up between quests and stuff. What do you guys think about this idea?
Haven't been on in a few months. I got an email this morning saying there was a password reset request. Ohboyherewegoagain, so I change my password, go through all the bullshit that clearly doesn't work, to find my accounts been banned since June for botting/macroing. I haven't been online in months. Well, Fuck Fagex and fuck this grindfest excuse for a game, because they've removed their anonymous support tickets and now I have literally 0 ways to appeal for this ban I have fucking nothing to do with.
I don't care, because this game sucks shit, but I still would've liked to have been able to offer the account/my items to a friend. But nope, down the toilet because the developers can't grow a set and recognize that they have a massive fucking security problem and that their autoban shit does fuck up.
It's not even the first time its happened to me, and both times I've had the authenticator set up and a PIN on my bank account. It never does anything.
This years OSRS Halloween event is pretty dark I have a to admit.
