Runescape V8 - I don't know, I just wanted a runescape thread that wasn't about the 2007 version - Games

I logged in with the normal client first time since they suggested it, but I'm going to try watching the cut scene in the HTML5 beta because that draw distance in Runescape is kind of mindblowing.

Anyone else having trouble actually getting the HTML5 client to do... well... anything? I click the button to redirect and play the beta, but it just doesn't load. I just get a black screen. [editline]23rd July 2013[/editline] Nevermind.

I thought I'd at last be able to play Runescape without needing Java... As of now, I'm just sitting down watching pretty circles ovals fly in a circle under 'Runescape 3'. Still waiting after like 40 minutes.

So looking into the lore a bit; Lawful Good: Armadyl Neutral Good: Seren Chaotic Good: Godless Lawful Neutral: Zaros True Neutral: Guthix Chaotic Neutral: Silske Lawful Evil: Saradomin Neutral Evil: Bandos Chaotic Evil: Zamorak I like Zaros so its nice to see he's a more Lawful Guthix. Zaros wants the world to fall to mortals, but he acknowledges that they are not safe without some rules or control; otherwise, everything will fall to chaos. So, he suggests that he watches silently, making checks and balances to ensure a 'balance' is maintained. He wants to become fate itself. Zaros is another God of Balance, but unlike Guthix (who deals with the nature of the world), Zaros deals with the nature of people. I can get behind a guy who is like that, inner balance and all. Only problem is his fucking emissary has fucked off and I can't find him in Varrock. I have a feeling at the end of all of this Zaros will return to become the supreme God and rule as balance like Guthix did.

I tried the HTML beta and ended up dropping 700 law runes by pushing X and couldn't pick them back up because they weren't displayed on the ground :v: So I think I'm just gonna stick with the java client for now.

I like how everyone in that old OSRS thread flipped out when I talked about just the tiniest bit of regular RS because "osrs is gonna last forever, its great i love it so much ill never stop playing!!!!". But what game still has a damn thread front page? What game still has at least some conversation going on? OSRS was destined to fail, it was a nostalgia based hype that never works out.

I didn't even know people still played Runescape anymore.

I just want to do quests but there are annoying level requirements that needs grinding.

Oldschool RS kind of died out after about a month since it was really nothing but a huge grind from scratch. RS3 came along which is actually kinda neat. Besides EoC and some cringe-worthy voice acting, the game has actually come pretty far. Soundtrack is better than it has ever been, period, and customizable UI makes life a whole lot easier. As for grinding, find a skill you like and train it. This game is centered almost entirely on the grind. There are, however, alternative methods to get XP besides just slicing and shooting at cows all day.

The problem I've always had with RS is that I could never get it to work with my GPU. I'm on a laptop (with a 670m that can withstand much more intensive games), but the game always decides to use my integrated graphics card. I've tried setting my browser to use my GPU automatically, same with DLing the standalone client without the browser, but neither works.

I am not sure how I should feel about the old road to Draynor Village from Lumbridge being utterly destroyed.

Anyone else feel that the music is too low in comparison to the sound effects? I mean sure they have a specialized server for orchestrated music, but the music is extremely quiet to the extent that opening a door would deathen your ears, whilst music is a small mumble. Checked the sound mixer, Java is turned up to max... EDIT: i even turned everything down and back up, assuming that it was touching a value that the old client reached, but the new client was higher...doesn't appear to be the case.
