I wonder about that. The dev team is fairly small and I'd imagine memberships and bonds alone could sustain it.
I'm on about total shutdown of rs3, if that happens investors won't be happy, jagex will go down and take osrs down and we'll be back on project06 or whTever it was called with powertripping admins and zero content updates. The rights to the rs name will end up with some Chinese shareholder. It's the whole infrAstructure jagex can currently maintain that allows us to have osrs

Tbh I dont know how popular private servers would be. The renaissance of old school private servers happened pretty much immediately before the OSRS poll came about. If RS3/OSRS goes it might be all over.

And while Runescape 3 does bring in a significant amount of money for Jagex, let's not pretend that Old School isn't very successful. Old School Runescape has hundreds of thousands of active players willing to pay a monthly subscription fee. There aren't many MMORPGs on the market today that can claim the same. It's widely successful, growing at a steady rate and the development team is constantly getting larger. There's so much fat to trim in the Runescape 3 dev team and so many cost-cutting measures, I doubt it will go under anytime soon. They're still making a lot of money off the game. Even if it's in disgusting ways.
no way would they just 'dedicate' themselves to osrs. even if, by some chance, rs3 starts bleeding players, they'll just cut back on microtransactions a lot, etc. They've said that they plan on supporting the game for at least another 15 years, and im pretty sure they're serious about that, so I can bet they have plenty of ways to get people back to playing.

Got 4 hard diaries done in the past 2 weeks, but I'm 99% certain I can't get the elites done in the next 2 weeks. Going to get another month of members. Feels fun playing again though :)
Rip Nieves cave. I never liked it but I'm a little sad to see it go in a way, was one of the first pieces of original OSRS content back when the team was much smaller and had less tools to work with. Thankfully I think exp rates for Slayer are still the same. Obsidian has potential but looks pretty ugly in its current state

It was so out of place and made most other slayer areas pretty obsolete. I'm glad they're toning the place down and expanding existing slayer areas. There's finally a reason to start using Slayer Rings.
So about 3 days ago my account was hijacked and logged in elsewhere. I pinged the IP that JAG sent me to California. I had to force them off my account by using the recover account process. Anyways, today I was informed that I was permabanned due to macroing on OSRS. I have not accessed OSRS for at least two years, and just previously returned to RS3. This is complete bullshit, how the fuck do I go about getting my account back? I've played for 8 years, theres a lot of time into this account.
Darik_Corman
Cool I can't do anything myself as it's not my department but I'll get someone in support to take a look on Wednesday. No promises in case it's actually a legit ban, but it doesn't sound like that's the case
