Just realized I've been subscribed to RuneScape since March, I completely forgot I was still subscribed after the first month of 07scape. I thought I just paid for one month. So that's where my moneys been going..

that's like 240k gp/h, that's really not a good moneymaker in 2013

Better than nothing, plus It gives me time to paint/make lists for warhammer.
is this game fun again
RuneScape doesn't feel like it used to.
I remember when you were a newb and you had to walk everywhere. You had to level magic to get the teleport spells (which you couldn't even use if you wanted to be a Strength or Range pure). Quests which gave you teleport options were helpful (like Gnome Tree for the gliders). Next to that, making money was difficult, because the usual methods of making the most money required high non combat skills or plenty of money (and smarts) for merchanting. You had to work your way up until you could be making a "lot" of money. And it was good, because when you had all of the nicest stuff it was because you put forward the effort, stress, and time to understand the game and work on your skills.
Remember when you would go to Varrock west bank and there was a huge group of people trading things? And I'm not even talking world 1 or 2. That was what was so good about RuneScape, how interactive the Economy was. How each player had their favorite things to do, favorite ways to make money, favorite ways to fight in the Wild, and it contributed to the economy.
And now you have the home teleport which takes you anywhere as long as you've activated a lodgestone, and the economy is so fucked and all of the items people use to drool over aren't special anymore. Skills aren't worth it for making money anymore because everybody's satisfied with what they have. And I could go on.
But what were we to expect? Even back in 2003 I thought it through and knew that it would be impossible for RS to continue to be the way it was forever. Over time something had to knock the game's elements out of balance and destroy the exploring and discovery aspect that really made the original game so god damned addicting. So I leave RuneScape with a simple shrug. I think JaGex really needs to think about development on a new MMO which took what was good about old runescape and mixed it with Jagex's learned lessons on their mistakes with real world trading and bots. The only real way to repair a broken game like RS is to start over from scratch.
I think it was the Grand Exchange that destroyed runescape the most.
I said it before and I said it again - games, especially MMO's HAVE to expand and change, you cant expect it to be the same game it was years ago in a realistic manner. Stop. RS isn't broken.

why wouldn't a developed world like that of Gielinor have a quick teleportation system anyone could use? the magic allows for it so there's no reason not to. rune teleports still have an advantage over home teleports because they're instant, while HT has a warmup time. people complaining about how this is somehow bad baffle me the most
if you want to participate in big, dumb, inefficient crowd trading spamming text and slowing the game down like in the old days, then you can go to world 1 or 2. if you want to interact with others, join a clan or just chat with the people you see. also you can still make money doing the things you like to do so I don't even know what you're talking about there
there's still exploration and discovery to be had in the world, even more now since it's expanded greatly since then. it's not like any of the old content you remember has gone anywhere. maybe since you've decided not to play anymore you're blinding yourself to that fact
in short: whining about muh nostalgia in a game thread is just going to lead to you getting shot down by people who actually know what's up
You can also feel free to go to 07 scape to suit your nostalgia
You can also feel free to go to 07 scape to suit your nostalgia
07Rs is a bigger flop then anyone could ever say the main game is. Its just for nostalgia, then once you realize its only half a game with no new content you get bored very fast.
Imo all the hate Jagex gets is just turning into a trend rather then a based hate.
Kind of like any other MMO
Stays the same, community - "omg its too boring"
Changes, community - "omg wow it used to be soo much better because of x and y"
because the fortress itself is out of date and looks like complete shit and the quest is admittedly stupid(get disguise, frantically avoid knights and find your way to their generic evil plan, leave to get a cabbage, frantically avoid knights again to thwart generic evil plan, you're done)
with the black knights' involvement in the battle of Lumbridge I don't see any reason why they shouldn't retcon the quest, especially with new players just starting out in the 6th age
i really havent played this in a long time
apparently i can solo AND tank all the revenants with a salve amulet and a polypore staff without taking nearly any damage while i had problems taking out revenant imps before eoc
So ive been starting to do runecrafting
just learned about the runespan, fuck

One time in old RC2, some dude wanted to buy my granite maul for 500K (they were only worth 250 at the time) and I told him that they were only worth half of what he was offering and ended the trade.
Not long after, he sent me another trade request, offering me 500K in return for absolutely nothing and thanked me for my honesty. I don't remember what exactly I spent the 500K on, but I'm going to remember that guy for awhile.
Wasn't the online player count near 100 thousand just a few months ago? now it hovers around 50k I have a hard time believing those are all bots
I think they had RS near perfect just before Dungeoneering. It seemed to go downhill from there, or at least for me it did anyway.

A lot of bot clients have been detected and people are getting banned for logging in, so the huge bot player base is missing from that number
You can pretty much check any public runescape bot forum and find shittons of members posting about bans and detections
but nah jagex doesnt care lol :~))))
I make just under 700k an hour, is that good in this economy?
yes

so here's what Divination is all about
So I met a J-Mod today walking around Edgeville and asked about how I really wish they'd update the Great Orb Project... And he said that they have something in the works. Well thank fuck for that because that place is absolutely dead.

dungeoneering was the best content addition ever in my opinion, doing it fast takes massive amounts of skill and coordination and is really engaging
I mean look at this shit
Looks like a massive waste of time, Runescape has enough stand in one spot and wait skills.
and god forbid a skill actually be fun to train
I make just under 700k an hour, is that good in this economy?
How do you do that? I can't even make 200k/h
I want a martial arts skill that ties into the three combat forms
melee can just be iron fisting mother fuckers
magic could be street fighter
ranged can be flying dragon kicks
To those that are looking for ways of making money, farming is awesome. When I was farming lantadyme's, I was making an average of 300k per run. Each run was 5 minutes of my time every 1.5-2 hours. Several runs a day and I was making good cash while HARDLY playing.
If you don't have the level, lower herbs make money too, just not quite as much. Worth training though.
