Runescape V8 - I don't know, I just wanted a runescape thread that wasn't about the 2007 version

but it's fine because the lore is great

what do you mean was? it's not like they went back and retconned anything significant
can anyone help me with shield of arrav, i just need to infiltrate the black arm and get the second shield half
what do you mean was? it's not like they went back and retconned anything significant
retconning is not the problem
the problem is they're turning it into a wow clone and it's affecting the game's lore as well, with the huge god wars stuff and this recent battle of lumbridge thing.
runescape was never really about that, it was a legitimate role-playing game where you determined what you wanted to do, not go on lolomgepicquest#47.
I wish I had the time to devote to Runescape. I really like the story but you have to do so much in-game to get to it.

um
runescape was always about these gods and their wars in the past, and quests have been hinting at shit going down for years now
Bummer the HTML client is still super laggy for me. :/

it was always a part of the lore but never its main focus.
I'd say there was enough mystery built up around it that I'm glad they're on track to giving some answers.
I enjoyed the game so much more in my early days, when i wasnt doing story, i was doing odd job quests for people but overall it felt like i was a person in a world, and not a hero.
have barely played since this whole "return of the gods" stuff
Hopped on again on my 9 year old after a few years.
And now I can't get off.
I don't suppose any of you fine ass facepunchers would give me 5 million coins so I can buy a bond. Hell, I think I could even pay you back a while after.
Doing full loads of wine every hour on the hour will still take me 10 hours by my calculation and that's not counting all the wasted time caused by dickweeds that sprout from nowhere and start stealing it from me.
I don't have 85 smithing so I can't do the superheating rune ore method. (That and nats are a bitch to buy.)

Seriously never thought I'd be playing this again of all games but there's something about it.
can't you cut magic logs?
Oh I forgot to say I'm f2p
I dont know how people get levels to 99 all the time. I will never have the enough patience/time to do it.

Same. My only 99 is Mage because I botted it and was lucky enough to not get caught. The only other skill I could forsee getting a 99 in is Runecrafting because of Runespan, but that's about as useless as firemaking now.
My highest skills are Mage 99, Runecrafting 90 and Herblore 85. And I only got my Herblore that high because I had lods of emone for some reason.
So I thought I'd try this game after a while of not playing.

Glad to see the graphics are as refined as ever.

If you can't stand working on one skill for too long, just switch around and try to build up all your levels at once. Try getting everything to level 50. That should be really easy. After that, get everything to 55, then 60, etc. Adds variety. I only have five 99's even though my "average" skill level is 88.4.
So, I just played RS again after over two years (days since last time -note said 73X or 76X days if I recall correctly) and boy, was I confused as fuck when I was sent in the middle of fight against trolls, even though I was last time happily near my original home area.
But I got hold of it quite quick, and what did I do after that?
Boatload of quests, logging out after killing [sp]Anvil[/sp] in the start of a quest.
I had pretty good time doing all the quest stuff (in fact, even better than in my earlier days), and my heart got a crack when I encountered [sp]The Map[/sp] and had to [sp]kill him (I fels sorry for that clumsy, somewhat sulking troll, probably because I'm too kind as a person with too much empathy)[/sp].
If I continue playing, I'll probably get better gear (obviously, I have Mage/Warrior hybrid setup while I actually only use Warrior stuff) and maybe try to find my original home area.
Also, I couldn't catch that [sp]baby troll[/sp]because [sp]I had full inventory[/sp], is that bad?
those aren't orks in Burthorpe, those are trolls
Oh yes, I must've had a blackout when I was making that message 1:00 am (therefore asking were they orcs). Now I start remembering those various moments when they were called trolls in-game AND feel like an idiot.
One of the things that I always get tempted to do is start a new character, just to progress through the 1-50 armour sets. I like how the armour progresses, but the game really feels like it drops off at that point for me, because everything afterwards start to cost ridiculous money and needs to be maintained.
What does need to be maintain? I used to have armor that would deteriorate over time, but that was it. I forgot what said armor was called though, as it's just called 'Member's item' or something like that last time I logged in
Yeah that's what I mean by maintained. Armour and weapons that degrade and either need to pay coin to fix or completely replace.
Barrows, Ganodermic, Grifolic, Eastern stuff, most minigame armour and weapons I think and more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

For any degrading gear in the game, you should be able to make far more money than what it costs to degrade. Barrows is costs like 10k/hr if I remember for example. That's seriously nothing.

but Barrows armor is cheap as dirt now
Can someone explain the gods for me?
In the lumbridge event I was on the zamorak side because saradomin is afaik actually evil but people see him as good
Then there's zaros the ancient desert dude, armadyl was a bird guy i think and bandos was the war man or something
I haven't played this in a while, if it is possible to change alignments convince me to which and why, I am feeling like getting membership again soon

I view the gods using the "Chaotic, Neutral and Lawful" traits. Saradomin as a chaotic force of good. He's still a mostly selfish asshole, but he at least still cares for a majority of the people (Mostly those that worship him though.) on Gielinor. Zamorak on the other hand I see as a Chaotic Evil. He seems to give no shits about anyone at all, and is geared more towards just plain destroying everything.
Armadyl is the god of Justice, he does everything by the book and believes that gods and mortals can share the world with each other. However he also believes that in order for this to come to fruition, laws are required for everyone to follow.
Bandos is simple to explain. BIG OGRE MAN LIKE SMASHY OTHER PEOPLE GRRR.
Zaros is possibly the most complicated. I believe he originally filled the position of "Evil" that Zamorak currently has (Zamorak obtained godhood by betraying and killing Zaros.) but there really isn't any proof that I know of that states him as being evil. He's stated as being the "Empty god" and a lot of his history is still shrouded in mystery from what I know. If someone wishes to correct me on this, please do.

a while ago someone set up the gods in a pretty good list
Lawful Good: Armadyl
Neutral Good: Seren
Chaotic Good: Godless
Lawful Neutral: Zaros
True Neutral: [del]Guthix[/del]
Chaotic Neutral: Sliske
Lawful Evil: Saradomin
Neutral Evil: Bandos
Chaotic Evil: Zamorak
so like, find the emissaries and take your pick
