Runescape V8 - I don't know, I just wanted a runescape thread that wasn't about the 2007 version

despite the title you can talk about old school here too, since this thread is pretty slow-paced anyway
I was gonna say we dont really have enough players to spread ourselves between 2 threads :v
But yeah I just started on old school. I haven't played in a while but its fun to start out fresh.
Its been about a day and I now have 330K.
Im pretty sure it took me like a year to get that much on my first account.
they put old-style armor back in?
They added another series of old armor overrides at Solomon's General Store...
personally im waiting for retro Void, i liked the old female appearance at least, seems more like a sleeveless robe with Opera gloves in comparison to just...robes.

For real. It's amazing to me how inefficient I was when I was younger, despite having like 24 hours a day to play RS :v:
I feel hopeless when trying to play 07 scape because I feel as if they will eventually just take it down again, rendering all progress pointless.
why would they?

They wont take it down, look at runescape classic thats still running to this day.
the fewer people playing it the less demand it is on their servers; if they do it anything like how IBM runs their servers, older games might just run on a portion of a server which they can change based on demand
yeah but they still have several thousand people playing daily. it's by no means dead for a game run by 5 people

As long as it's economically viable nothing will happen to the OSRS server. I just feel at this point with all the changes made it's no longer old school, more like an official private server.

Back in 2001, adam chest was the best you could get and it cost 40k. That was a small fortune at the time. There also was no item bank so you either traded it to a mule character or wore it forever, and equipped items still took up inventory space back then. You bought one of those, you were committing yourself to combat.
I remember my brother and I making our first 100k back then, selling cooked meat. It was actually the most efficient way to train cooking because the amount of exp you got depended on your level (you got more exp per meat as you went up) and your level actually changed how much the meat healed. Being a level 30+ cook and selling meat was uncommon, and so it was worth quite a bit. A few gp each in fact, hahaha. Now you can blow 100k into a total money sink and not even blink.
I love that J Mods are stamping these Dailies. I was cutting Ivy just now and it was pretty crowded, around 7 people in total. They announce that the J Mods are stamping Dailies and I'm the only one left :v:
Which in itself isn't bad, either. No?
No, it is not bad. I'm happy Old School exists, it caters to people who enjoy the classic style of playing. My favourite activity in Runescape is skilling and PVMing, Runescape 3 is perfect for me.
But all these updates has made me loose some interest in Old School. But I have to admit that if these changes and updates happened in 2007 instead of 2014 I would have loved the game even more.

It's weird how much things have changed. Making 1m/hour is now considered below average.

Yeah it feels more like an alternate dimension where they didn't ruin the game, which is great. I'm honestly having more fun on old school now than I ever did on the main version.

Honestly I've been playing on and off pretty much since the game came out and I think RS is better now than it ever was. In fact some of their recent changes catering to the retards who can't handle change have really put me off, like bringing back weapon specials: they were horribly broken and made it so only two weapons ever got used. I did not miss them one bit.
Personally, i think the idea of retuning weapon specs to be outright redundant, people are voting for legacy mode because they think they'll get things like 100% protection prayers (and a free level reset) and somehow Armadyl Godsword to become some sort of over-centralizing weapon. even to a lesser extent, having Revolution has pretty much smoothed out the issue of having to click attacks...
...I'm up for Legacy Mode, if it was an interface mode. maybe just to severely lessen the whole feature creep RS3 has been suffering. like do people really want to lose 5/6 "Stones" just because the inventory screen has to show the Money Pouch 24/7? I liked the pre-RS3 EoC interface, all spells and combat abilities were under a single spellbook with multiple sections, and stuff like clan chats were under 1 whole tab...
The Community/ingame highscore tabs seems too....redundant, i don't think anyone would use it ingame (if ever finished) except to compare highscores of friends, even then, there's offsite IRC chat commands that can compare the stats of 2 players, GE Price Checking and so forth. a Legacy Mode could be a way for people to use slightly less modern PCs to play Runescape, which for all intents and purposes started off as a game that anyone could use....only for it to chase after some HTML5 Pipedream just so Tablet players can get in on the fun.
That aside, i got a bit further in OSRS over the few days, levelled over 10 mining levels at Motherlode to 45 and got the Prospector Boots, i even got the Goblin Challenge Scroll...plans for the moment is to fatten up combat stats for Recruitment Drive, grind up prayer a bit, attempt to get 43 prayer then try to unlock gliders/spirit trees....Mage is a problem too, but getting levels in that would make it easier to get, assuming Alchrunning still exist in 07.
total level for the moment.

I am thoroughly impressed with how far Runescape has developed since the no wilderness fiasco, when i decided to pack it in. Coming back this year as a new character has been a pleasant experience although quite daunting since i question whether i can be on top of my game with all these updates. EOC is a bit of an experimental game right now, for me at least because there is so much to consider and in honestly i like what i'm seeing. A little part of me hated how pking worked in RS2. Everything about it seemed cheap and lucky numbers. Something I find weird in RS3 is how Level 2 monsters have roughly the same exp as level 10+ monsters, making them pretty redundant to fight anything else other than rats and chickens simply because of their low hit points. I'm combat 97 and i'm fighting level 2 rats in varrock sewer, where i can gain 50K experience an hour chaining them with magic.
Christ, I just ran into a train of around 11 level 3's with random names botting planks at Varrock.
I do hope someone at Jagex takes the time to view all of my reports..
Got 99 Smithing yesterday, might be slightly unfair due to the Skiller weekend, but still, i only smithed majorly from 96 when it started. and got 104 dung almost a week ago. i can probably get 99 fishing in a few days, at 371k xp, 68k~ can be from trolls, 22k~ from Supreme Jots and something like 30-40k~ from penguins a week, then there's also Divine Rocktails which could range from 20-34k~ if you get most of the fish with no notes, but you do have bonus xp. :D

The Magic Bean event is sorta creative for what it is. take the farmer gear being on Treasure Hunter out of the question, a single fellstalk seed costs 1 bean and 2 herbs picked is 3 beans, willows are 7 beans and curry trees are 13-14 beans. also found value in White Lily seeds since they can protect all vegetable seeds which makes it moderately nice for passive strength xp. even Prickly Pears can get me 30-37k~ xp if i have some bonus xp stacked up...however the time it takes to grow is bad, and they're only protected with crops or if you have Desert Hard tasks done.
this is going to be a thing I suppose

unfortunately most of the new stuff is just shitty cosmetics

Just do your training at Frost Dragons/QBD/Glacors, make bank and good xp.
Damnit Plucky, can I have your life?
They're going way too overboard with the clue rewards imo. If any of those are from Elites then theres going to be no point to doing them since you'll just get a load of garbage.
On the bright side, most of it looks well done and will make clues, at the very least, a little more fun at first with getting the new rewards.
The new dung rewards seems a little thin, we have...
• Chaotic Spear, which needs 5 or so spikes to attatch to a Zamorakian Spear. (good luck getting, they're bought out)
• Coin Magnet....that lasts only 1M GP, video shows it costs 60k tokens.
• Gem Bag Upgrade: can hold 80 of each gem from sapph-dragonstone. (old gem bag is 100 gems shared, no Dstone)
• Miniature Blink, seems to run off doing airplane arms and chicken dances.
• Frost Dragon hatchling.
• Mini Behemoth.
• EDIT: Kal'gerion Demon resource dungeon on Daemonheim with 90 Dung, they're slayer tasks....there may be new drops, there's also Gem Rocks...though they're didn't mention if they're specialized rocks (non-shilo gems) or not, the demons themselves are mage/melee.
Dungeoneering floors can be skipped with Dung Tokens, which might be nice for people trying to do dungeons fast...yeah, also ring refunds. a forum thread mentioned Menageries being boosted from 15 pets to 25 pets once the Dungeoneering update comes out.
OSRS Side: people complained about a Duck being renamed to Erin, Gem/Coal bags costing 100 gold nuggets each which feels more useful than prospector suit providing 0.whatever % xp boost to mining.
Not sure wherever to do Livid this weekend, already unlocked 1 or 2 spells from it...could do Dom tower atleast until Dreadnips so i can complete Desert Hard for the disease-free Cactus Patch..
There's no point in Chaotics. Drygores is the only way to go.
