Runescape V8 - I don't know, I just wanted a runescape thread that wasn't about the 2007 version

How do I grind up smithing from 59 to 68?
Mining for materials somewhat applicable.
Basically I want to get my Explorer's ring 4
even if the shitty ceo is gone, the damage is already done with all the updates and you can't remove that

Revert to 2007 like nothing happened in between.
Consensus is that Runescape got more shit(which it did) after Mark Gerhard took the role of CEO.
it's funny because while he was just a regular jmod he was fine.
really the game started going downhill once gower left.

Is there a possibility of Gower returning?
but you can? :v:
[editline]12th September 2014[/editline]
and generic plot

and generic armor design
[editline]12th September 2014[/editline]
shit
All the quests should totally be remade with cutscenes/voice acting. It makes them so much more enjoyable.

shit
Wait, old Runescape's whole-cloth ripoffs of real life history and half-cloth homages to most fantasy was less generic than what we have now?
Also, I really can't say that Runescape's new armor design is generic, especially compared to the old armor designs.
Is there a possibility of Gower returning?
nope, he has his own game studio now. http://www.fenresearch.com/
I never looked into Runescape lore, and it's actually really interesting.
Barrows, coupled with its old aesthetic appearance used to be my favourite. But then jagex fucked it up big time with epic blue random swirls everywhere
[editline]12th September 2014[/editline]
And changed the appearance of the armour and how it worked
Question. Is Castle Wars still as fun as it was back in 2008?
no
Castle Wars was fun?

I giggled
the OS team is pretty fun
too bad I couldn't see the animation since I'm on trial
It's more generic because they've adopted the design philosophy of greeble creep, rather than simple memorable designs that sit in balance with the graphical limitations of the game.
Old runescape's style was unique in the sum of its parts rather than say the way a rune full helm looks.
You couldn't take the second image, and copy past the dude into a bunch of different MMOs and not look completely out of place like you could with Mr. HARDCORE SPIKES AUAUAUGHGHGHGHGHH PARTICLES!!!!111111!!1111
I'm not saying don't improve graphics but holyshit keep the game easy on the eyes jagex.
Isn't the armour supposed to be over-the-top and incredibly uncomfortable to wear? It's called Malevolent armor for a reason. Generally all the top-tier armour is painful to look at because you're either ripping it from the guts of some ancient monster, or you're making it out of the guts of some ancient monster.
Besides, a lot of the redesigned armor looks decent. The generic "full helm with visor and plume" for all the lower-level armor needed to go.

While I can agree with your statements regarding the overcomplication of the new armors, they're anything but generic. Plus, there's the fact that Runescape's old armor WAS generic... for a GMUD. Runescape has always been a middle-man game for the newbies and devoted fans, and it has always been derivative of whatever is most popular. In its birth, you could see the Ultima Online seeping out of every pore. Around the midlife of Runescape 2, you could see Everquest 2 and all its brethren were having an effect (most importantly in its boss design). Now, we've got WoW swinging its weight around.
Are you extremely lucky or are you just saving up an assload of raffle tickets?
saving up tickets. the way i see it, a godsword has finite value, sure you could buy 3 regular ones so you'll get the one you actually want, but they are level 75 weapons though. the 100m coins is only given to like 100 people so obviously people would stupidly hoard up tickets for those despite everyone else probably having the same idea.
Deathtouched Darts could be potentially useful, if only because of the monsters they could hit. absolutely sucks for any quest monster or jad since it doesn't give the cape, but might be nice for 3 solo KK kills since even a single Drygore could be nice to own. the Bank Deposit Boxes however seems redundant since Prifddinas is around the corner, people would likely move there just to mine Corrupt ores just to powersmith them into pure exp..think they even have 2 rune rocks and some concentraited clay supposedly alongside some gem rocks that gives bonus Spirit Gems.
Which just leaves either the skiller armor piece (doesnt count ibis, golden miner, lumberjack or constructor) which awards 500k gp if you have all the pieces. just face it, it'll boil down to either the bragging rights of Warpriest (their effects isn't shared or devalued) or the DT darts.
20k lots of 3 x darts vs 100 100mils, 2.5k godswords or 5k gold warpriest.
As far as ticket usage, think i went 3 days without using tickets. used 6 to get my first warpriest set. used 2 tickets on a DT dart but lost, used the rest on a set of warpriest. also holy fuck, another xp weekend jagex? people are probably going to grind prifddinas for xp....i just hope they add crystal implings to tree-shaking scrimshaw so i can personally catch some from crystal trees.
I find 'giving away my dignity and kissing some dude's ass for a drop party' to be the most profitable money making method

I should write a book for this
Castle Wars was fun?
it was fun once you got the red and blue armor
then you stopped caring
I remember 7 year old me playing Castle Wars on like a combat level of 10. I never leveled my character for some reason, just ran around doing... nothing.

Well if that's the case then hopefully I'll be set for Tuesday, as I've begun saving up tickets. I should have a fair collection by then.

I'd rather have a game that rips off Ultima Online than Everquest or WoW.

See, that's where your bias kicks in. UO had incredibly generic plots (the amazing Virtues system notwithstanding) and equipment, owing mostly to the fact that it was among the first of its kind. Runescape will forever be derivative, man. It's best to just roll with the punches and be glad Jagex hasn't fucked the game too hard yet.

The thing is, I'm biased toward what's fun, not what tries to be original and fails.

Wait, how can armor be fun? Are simple designs fun?
well old armor is fun in a way where their simplistic design would allow player to mix them up for fashion and look unique
[editline]13th September 2014[/editline]
disclaimer: I'm biased toward old design
Anyone of you know some good items to merch?
Like armor, what do people use now a days?
Fuck you all, I liked MMG's updates.
