Alt1 is the best tool and works with any client.
Do new quests get added to OSRS?
pretty sure they said they would add a new quest to introduce the new continent
my mate convinced me to start playing again, I tried OSRS a while back but resorted to botting because the grinding was too much
so this time I'm trying RS3 with my old account that's already got some decent stats
i had 2 keys in the treasure hunter thing and unboxed an armadyl godsword, is that really lucky or is it common i don't even know

oh it's untradeable fuck, i would've preferred the 500k because i don't have 75 att but oh well it can sit in my bank until then
gives me some inspiration to get 75 attack i guess

When was the last time that a quest was added to OSRS?
Pressing 1-5 is not a choice lol, it's a chore. You either press all the fancy buttons to get all the little damage boosts or you get sub optimal damage; nothing else to it.
Is it more of a chore than literally doing nothing while you watch a monster die?
How is the OSRS community? It looks like there are a lot less people playing OSRS than RS3.
been playing RS3 for the last week, managed to beat all the F2P quests in that time.
elvarg nearly killed me but all hail the mithril longsword and it's magical crit

on average it makes up around half of jagex services total player population. as for attitudes ingame it's more of the same

I meant player population; sorry I should have been more clear with my wording. Does the "X Online" thing at the top of runescape.com represent the amount of players online in RS3, or both OSRS and RS3?
Because if it's both, then you are definitely correct.

The one on the RS3 website is RS3, OSRS and Classic combined.
The one on the OSRS website is OSRS only.
RS3 and OSRS is currently taking turns to have the most active players online. But I believe OSRS will pull ahead slowly, as it seem to attract more new players, and they got a freaking new continent coming in the not so distant future. In RS3 it also simply is a matter of time before Jagex makes another retarded buisness decision to piss off people even more. This is coming from someone who loves and play both versions actively, although my current plan is to finish getting Trimmed Comp Cape then changing focus to Maxing in OSRS.
I hate how the Tuska timer just disappears after you finish a run. Relogging fixes it but it's still pretty annoying.
Also am I the only one who plays in legacy mode?
What do you guys think Jagex can do to redeem RS3 and somehow make it more popular than OSRS?
So I re-upped for 3 months and got back into oldschool RS.
Is slayer still god-tier?

OSRS to me was a simple game about stats, wealth, and sweet sweet ganks. RS3 to me is a game focusing on the mimicry of modern games, the introduction of micro-transactions, and the fixing of what isn't broken in the first place. Dungeoneering is amazing, but the combat seems like a bastardized mimicry of some of the more modern titles, which is not playing to the strengths of what RS had. Yes, there is a legacy combat system, but as it stands it is not able to be used viably in some cases and my beloved weapon poison is a shell of it's former self.
Is RS3 still a viable game? Certainly. However, it feels to me like it lacks any of the character that it's older predecessor possessed.

Removing Treasure Hunter would be a start, but wont happen as long as people support it financially.
Fixing EoC being such a mess is another good option, it got potential but is being handled poorly. One does not simply put twitch based combat into a game with an ancient engine and a 0.6 second tick delay on every action, without it feeling cluncky and weird. There's a thread about it in future game updates on their forums(QFC: 16-17-977-64136961), which got to be the thread with the biggest ratio of agreement in this games entire history.
Vincentor; I'd highly suggest that you try out revoloution instead. It lets you use basic abilities automatically, so you only need to use threshold/ultimates if you choose to. Legacy became shit when they decided to nerf it hard 2 days after release.
Lyonidis; Slayer is still a good money maker in both games.

Restructure skilling so that there's more value throughout them, rather than being something you grind purely for the endgame benefit. (yaks, perfect pluses, supreme overloads, curses). quests being released often with consistant quality/expansion, im speaking something around the lore levels of Fate of the Gods/Prifddinas/One of a Kind with the playability of Mighty Fall/TWW (Bosses). they should rejiggle minigames a bit more such as making Livid more interactive; make spells unlockable in any order, add a sliding scale of success so that you stick to one world to increase a temporary multiplier.
Weapon styles should be more diverse rather than just accounting for speed differences, add some sort of purpose into using Defenders, add elemental wands or weapon-exclusive combat abilities. for the moment they have Halberds in Beta adding the increased range to Hurricane so that it hits in a 5x5 square rather than 3x3 like other weapons. possibly, they should give slight value to monsters, maybe some sort of core drop you use on dragon weapons so that you can affix the spec to a Chaotic/Drygore item.
Because really, the whole re-addition of Specs were partially to satisfy the players who left the game, but in modern times, it's not like Dragon Dagger's spec is that good when it's a tier 60 weapon. Defence is much more important and by the time specs came back, level 80 equipment were the standard...and now there's tier 85 stuff from Ports. even tier 80 is slightly congested due to Attuned Crystal items. i guess the Enchanted Elite Excalibur is amazing for what it is, it's basically a Guthix Butterfly variant with a Def boost that can be activated from the Inventory!
I want them to make mining/smithing not-shit. same with fletching. having rune at 90-ish was nice, back in like, 2005.
Most skills require large reworks. They're not really useful in their current states. I hope invention will bring new life to a lot of dead skills.
Got 59 hunter in OSRS, slowly building myself back up to 83 hunter where I was with my other character before his abandonment. Trying to get 99 too, by playing the game for an hour or so each day. Really feel at home in this game now, yes my friends list maybe void of life these days but I feel everyone else is in a similar situation.
Fletching is dumb. The final object you work to make is worth less than any of the raw materials needed to create it.
Fletching is dumb. The final object you work to make is worth less than any of the raw materials needed to create it.
That's the problem with practically the entirety of RS (and really most games with crafting systems): the potential experience gained from a raw item is worth more than the processed item.
Is there a facepunch clan chat for OSRS? I can't remember if there was one/whatever it was.
What do you guys think Jagex can do to redeem RS3 and somehow make it more popular than OSRS?
It doesn't need redeeming.
I'd say rs3 still has a lot to go as a game, for sure. I didn't really think they went backwards much, but they've been spending a bit too much time pushing new content rather than revitalizing old content/updating skills.
Runescape 3 is definitely a good game. It has just become one of those games which you either love or hate. And the way they introduced the Evolution of Combat was rushed, changed the game entirely and I can understand why people are upset at Jagex for the changes. Hell, I didn't touch the game for almost two years before giving it another shot.
Runescape 3 and Old School Runescape are two entirely seperate games with different experiences, they have developed in more or less opposite directions from each other and except from a few fundamental gameplay elements, they don't have much in common anymore.
I enjoy both games and I play both regularly. I love the way OSRS handles updates, it's very down to earth and community driven. And I'm incredibly happy that the Runescape 3 team has learnt from the OSRS team and implemented a similair system with RuneLabs and in-game polls.
Blindly defending one version blindly while throwing insults at the other isn't going to achieve anything.
dunno if vanilla RS3 or any custom clients for it have anything like this, but that's really neat. The clickboxes for objects far on the edges of your field of view are kind of glitchy, they're a tiny bit off-center but it's not that big of a deal.
Runescape 3 has a zoom mechanic bound to the mouse wheel. I think Pg up / Pg down zooms in & out aswell.
Does it go quite this far out? I imagine it's based on the RS3 one, then
As far out as I can zoom.
I noticed RSBuddy had the zoom function added, I turned it off immediately though because it just felt really off to me.
dunno if I'm late (I do not hang around the RS or OSRS community, I'm a bit of a lone wolf when it comes to this game), but OSBuddy just debuted a 'zoom' mechanic for OSRS.

They're doing it officially
What are some fun things in osrs that you can do with your friends, i.e. pk, fight bosses, etc.

You said them, some minigames if you wanna do those (more specifically BA because smaller teams) and slayer task sharing?
[editline]7th June 2015[/editline]
If you're good enough you can do the GWD bosses in any team size (from 1 to whatever)
