Is there any way to get into this game, it looks like fun but fairly competitive, I never had much luck getting into other competitive games by just going through matchmaking, but got into Dota and CS with friends.

If you don't want competitive gameplay just don't play ranked. But don't exactly expect a fair fight either because matchmaking seems a bit skewed in unranked. I play ranked to gauge where I'm at skill-wise so I can continue improving. Unranked doesn't really yield results outside of exp.

Playing ranked nonstop and then playing in unranked is a massacre. Completely demolish most people after playing Doubles competitively since I hit level 10 (I'm level 25 now or something). But damn does it feel good realising how much better you're getting cause of how ranked just pits you against equally tough opponents. But yeah, unranked matches are usually much easier and fun (ie less stressful), so just play those. PS: Thanks for the decal / paint job description. I put it on my car and it looks awesome.

I normally play unranked, the ranked matches I've played are full of people too afraid to making mistakes to do anything. A lot of sitting back waiting for someone else to hit the ball. Unranked is full of unskilled plebs, but at least they charge the ball like madmen and give you a lot of opportunities to work on aerial goals/saves. It's also a treat when the stars align and you get a 3v3 match full of guys who aerial, then most of the game takes place off the ground. Really incredible to see the ball only touch the ground a few times the whole match.

I can't stand people who hit the ball just to hit it, it drives me nuts. If you're going to set up an aerial shot and pop the ball go for it, but slamming the ball into the wall sideways just because / hitting the ball backwards into your side's corner is not helpful

Yeah thats pretty much what I always do now. Doesn't work in higher skill games without a teammate to back up your shot though.

So I decided to start doing ranked matches. You weren't kidding about the higher skill level of people in it than in unranked. Literally the first game I joined I had rookies who were trying for aerials while in unranked playing against most rookies feels more like turtle league.

Finally hit skill 1000 again in 3v3s. Such a pain.

Shit, I remember when aerial hits were a no-go for me. I'd constantly miss. But now I'm actually scoring ridiculous goals with em and it feels so good. Really surprising how much better you can get at this game if you keep at it. It started off with complete whack aerial shots that I'd either miss or just barely touch, to now being able to judge how to hit the ball to at least get it nearby to where I'm usually aiming for.

I used to only be able to get aerials when shots were perfectly set up, the ball was popped vertical and floating in the right spot, stuff like that. Now I find myself going up for aerials no matter how the ball is flying, and learned how to rotate the car at the very end to decide direction of the shot. I nearly came in my pants one game recently when the ball was sent flying, I went up for it, stopped boosting and did a front flip to show off mid-air, then recovered and continued flying for another second or two before spiking the ball into the goal. There's something about, "Nice shot!" being spammed over chat that makes you feel really damn accomplished.

So I got kicked from 2 ranked games in a row to take me down 200 ranks. Funny thing is, not even [i]one second[/i] of the games were played, I was just immediately kicked before anyone could even touch the ball. That's not very cool.

They were taking the servers down and autokicking anyone who tried to join a new server (to let people finish matches they were currently in). The patch assigned everyone to a division based on their pre-season ranking. Rankings now work like this Bronze 1, 2, 3 (starts at 0) Silver 1, 2, 3 (starts at 400) Gold 1, 2, 3 (starts at 700) Platinum (reserved for top 100 players) As an example I had high 1000s in 2v2, low 1000s in 3v3, and high 800s in 1v1 and I was assigned Gold 1 division defaulting to rank 700 for all 3. Servers are down still atm though so not sure when they'll be fixed. Servers are up now, but I don't think fully. I keep having to wait extremely long times to find a match, and when I do it's in an Oceana server AKA shit tier everyone lagging their asses off.
