So i keep having phases of being really shit and barely doing anything right. Then the next day, im like a one man army scoring 4 goals within the first minute or two in the game just by brilliant ball control.

That's why I always "warm up" in unranked matches before going into ranked games. It helps me discern what level I'm playing at that day. If I'm missing aerials and fucking up, then I just stick with unranked. If I'm on point and destroying all the plebs, I'll jump into ranked. My rank finally started climbing up fairly rapidly upon adopting this practice.

hmmm this is a good idea
I also think solo standard is truly the best way to develop skill. Carrying a team by yourself due to trash teammates gives you the skills to dominate nearly every other gametype. It's one thing to dribble and juke out one or two other dudes in duel or doubles, but if you can juke a team of three, you're hot shit. Got my win streak achievement the other day because I jumped into doubles and absolutely buttsmashed once I learned to avoid some of the passes and whatnot that only work in standard.
I disagree
talking shit is the best way to develop skill

99% of Rocket League players think this. That is an actual statistic i swear.
I got called a "raging faggoting cunt" the other day and i went "well... i am homo!"
and the guy went "i hope you get cancer, die and all of your family suicide from sadness"
This was all because i won 5-1

Well what did you say back to the second one
you may have won the game but lost the true meta, the shit talking
Like really if you can butt-frustrate the other team enough you'll only win more

There is nothing i love more than spaming "What a save!" when they miss a ball and i get an easy goal.
So I got pitted against Sadjunior and Gambit. Needless to say they kicked our ass 0-7 :v:

my friend and I got pitted WITH Gambit on our team a month ago.
Needless to say we kicked their ass 7-0
Dude doesn't say anything, and we asked him to carry us and he said "Noooo!" in that default chat thing :(

only do that if they're being a dick towards you
I just always spam "Wow!" no matter what happens
"Wow!"
"Wow!"
"Wow!"
"Chat disabled for 1 second"
"Chat disabled for 4 seconds"
"Please stop"

Maybe it was just you, he was talkative when I played him. Played him once again after that he was chatty.
If only you could disable chat
I usually play without sound so I don't have to deal with people raging and just focus on the game. Most people use the quick chat to tell you where they'll be anyways so its not like I'm losing too much.
I talk shit with the quick commands in ranked matches as a means of hopefully frustrating them enough to forfeit. People get worked up pretty quick when I'm saying, "Wow!" after every missed hit or blunder.
Also, what are the prerequisites for webms here? I made one, but it says video format isn't accepted.

Oh of course, i wouldn't be a prick to good sports.
If my team does the asshole chatspam in unranked I just OG the fuck out of them and go "WHAT A SAVE".
When I play ranked I'm always chilling and I never joke about my team nor the others. On Chaos I go KEK :saxout:
I'm usually chill with the chat but as soon as i get the slightest grain of salt from someone my d-pad is being used 80% more than every other button.
Standard Solo is a cakewalk after reaching Gold II 2v2. Feels so good nailing aerial goals and stuff, but I want to bump my rank up cause I'm tired of playing with people who make really silly mistakes constantly. 2v2 has people who know the basics (like not all smashing the ball at once, letting the goalie defend instead of sitting in there with him and fucking shit up, letting a teammate take a better shot at the ball instead of just blindly hitting it cause you're closer, etc) and it gets tiring when you lose to those really easy to fix mistakes.
Can't talk shit about it ingame though cause you just get sworn at or called a troll? "guys, when I'm in goal, can you please not sit in there with me. get out and harass the ball instead and I'll worry about goalkeeping" just gets replies like "lol stfu scrub"
That feel when I reached up and touched Gold only to fall into a spiraling losing streak all the way down to 580. Every single game has featured teammates self-scoring or handing easy goals away at a level I can't carry. As rating gets worse, the teams get worse.
Father why have you forsaken me?
I got into an unranked game that was going ok until one of the people on my team started talking. He set up a center when the guy who could take it was out position. For the rest of the match he was complaining about how we're so bad. He was actually saying how we're bad as he was wiffing easy hits. It was absurd. I would think it would have been a joke but the kid sounded like he was 10, so I could imagine him seriously thinking he was hot shit because he got one "aerial" (it wasn't actually an aerial).
Also the only goal that was scored was when he own goaled.
[editline]17th October 2015[/editline]
And in the following game I get matched with someone who knocked away an easy goal that would have tied up the game because he just had to hit it.
Always makes me laugh (or rage, if it happens with my team) when the ball is rolling sideways across the map, and one enemy is coming straight at it to get a neat shot into our goal, but then some dumbass smashes it from the side. You just see the disappointment in the guy who was gonna centre shot it. When it happens to me, it makes me cry. Especially when I'm going for an aerial, only to have a teammate smash into me in the air and we both end up missing as a result. Sad times.
Worse is when you're goalie and the ball is rolling slowly towards you with enemies far away. You go to smash it out towards enemy goal, only for a teammate to blast it sideways and just causing it to stay near your goal even longer. That's the worst.

That's pretty much what happened. But instead of blasting the ball he blasted me. Then proceeded to call me bad. I don't mind when someone sends it back towards our goal if they allow the person who can easily clear it to do that. Hell, sending it back to the goalie is a completely legitimate strategy to set up a better shot. But when you go "HURF DURF IMMA HIT IT" then I get kind of annoyed. Especially when in the playback its obvious you're not going to clear it yourself. In hindsight maybe I should have ripped that kid a new asshole after every wiff, which was most of his ball time in that game, but I wouldn't want to ruin his delicate psyche.
Chewing out your teammates always ends badly. I always get douchebags who just end up sitting there if they get the slightest criticism.
Passes to goalie are fucking epic. I wish more people did it. I'm always scared to do it myself cause I don't know if the goalie would expect it, and it'd be an easy fuckup: "Great pass! Great Pass! Wow!" when the enemy charges in and takes it cause goalie didn't react.
If anybody here wants to play with a guy who actually does all that shit you're saying add me on steam
<------
I've learned to expect my teammates to be incompetent morons and play defensively with randoms. I usually end up winning since my teammate's endless wailing of the ball will eventually end up in the net and I can just keep it clear of our side. I'll occasionally take aerial shots if my teammate decides to set them up but that's only when I know it will score. Otherwise they can just drive it back for an easy goal.
So i was playing SP season against all-star bots to try and practise while my internet was down, and now I'm wishing we could create our own teams complete with team colours. And the only reason I'm saying that is because the maps look way much better than just orange and blue and I wished they would utilize the shader-colouring more.

One of the people from the team I'm on actually brought up an interesting idea, allow people to set any color they want for their car but give them an outline of the color they are on their actual car which can be seen by other players.
So i.e. you have a black and white car but with an orange outline/glow visible to other players if you're on orange team
