A lot of people don't leave matches after an abandon, for some reason, and just lose the points. But the one where the guy abandoned on us, he threw a temper tantrum and refused to move, but moved every couple seconds to avoid being kicked. He was also shooting on our goal and bashing us out the way. It was super frustrating. That's why we couldn't leave. Basically the same as abandoning.
So apparently there's "pro" players or something like that related to esports. Played a match with someone named something like noble oneill and one of the dudes on my team immediately gave up because "omg hes a pro theres no hope." The dude wasn't even that great, nothing out of the ordinary for that skill bracket. Is there money to be made in this game? Because if some dude who isn't even that great could make money off of it, I wanna get in on that shit.

Kronovi, for example. He Twitch streams and I'm sure he gets donations thrown his way. But yeah, if I was playing a match and saw a notable player in the top 100 global rankings, I'd probs feel the same (though I wouldn't just give up outright). That's probably what your teammate meant: "oh shit, he's gonna be good" Read this, it does a better job explaining why there isn't a huge tournament scene like Riot does with LoL [editline]27th November 2015[/editline] You could try Twitch streaming if you're charismatic enough and good enough. You could build up a fanbase and make pocket change through donations [editline]27th November 2015[/editline] I post way too often in this thread, but I wish it was more active. Would be nice to team up with some people from UK (I'd say US, but timezone differences are a bitch)
Yeah, I figured there isn't much money in it. I just wasn't sure what the kid meant by the dude being a "pro," I typically associate pro with someone who gets paid to do it. Apparently the dude was a streamer and the guy on my team watches it or something like that. It was an aggravating match. The guy on my team spent more time complimenting the "pro" through chat than playing, and all of the goals scored against us were due to my teammates shitting the bed hard. I wanted to carry the game and show them how mediocre the "pro" was, but he was in a party with 2 other people and they were coordinating defense well. You can add me on Steam if you'd like. Our timezones may not line up, but I end up with some strange hours sometimes due to the military being the military. If I'm in game when you are, you're more than welcome to shoot a party invite. I'm no Kronovi, but I was forged in the fires of solo standard and had a friend teach me the ways of doubles, recently making it to gold there. Steam name is MaverickiB.
Will add and play tomorrow and over the weekend. Just met some Norwegian guy, he claimed he was Kronovi, I said "sure", then he said he was sadjunior, I still didn't believe him. But he plays fucking amazing. Like, most games, I feel he's holding himself back. But we lost two games in a row and he just went HAM and is scoring goals nonstop all by himself. It's ridiculous. Such a good feeling.
If anyone wants to play with someone in the Gold 2/3 ranks, send me a PM. I usually play a few hours per day
Bought this game a few hours ago and what a fantastic game it is. Any tips to aim better or be good in general?
Bought this game a few hours ago and what a fantastic game it is. Any tips to aim better or be good in general?
Honestly man, you just gotta learn by playing. My only advice would be to push your envelope, go up for aerials and shots even if you aren't sure you can pull them off. You'll fuck up a lot, whiff a lot, and make people angry if you're playing ranked, but that's the best way to get better. Half of the shit I do, I learned by accident because I was just going balls to the wall, hit the ball in a weird way, and went, "Huh, I think I'm gonna try and replicate that." Try to stay balanced in skillset. From the get-go, I decided I wanted to be an aerial specialist, so I got really good at aerials, but I couldn't handle the ball on the ground well and couldn't play off the wall for shit. It carried me to the mid silver, then teams that were good at shutting down aerials effectively took me out of games. I didn't start moving up to gold until I learned how to play off the entire field, not just in the air. Watching the really skilled guys play on youtube also helps out, gives you some ideas on what exactly is possible in the game. 1v1 and 2v2 will teach you the individual skills you need to be good. Standard will help you learn the dynamics of teams, knowing when to go for the shot and when to sit back (the latter something a lot of people don't bother to learn at all) can often be more important than skill when playing standard. Solo standard will teach you how to carry a game with bad teammates, incorporating the ball handling you learn from 1v1 and 2v2 into 1v3 master juke marathons.
Half of the shit I do, I learned by accident because I was just going balls to the wall, hit the ball in a weird way, and went, "Huh, I think I'm gonna try and replicate that."
Something I liked to do after every score was just use my remaining boost to fly and hover. Then I realized you could use that in actual play.
Something I liked to do after every score was just use my remaining boost to fly and hover. Then I realized you could use that in actual play.
I pretty much did the same thing, except I would go into training mode when waiting for a match and just try to hover along as close to the ground as possible around the map. Then one day I was like, "Wtf man I wonder if I could use this for real doe." Thus, air dribbling was born. Have only pulled it off a few times (keeping the ball in the air, bouncing it off the front of the car as I hover down the field, low enough to pick up boosts) but holy fuck it gets a lot of "Wow!"s spamming the chat when I do. Feels goodman.
Portal-themed items are coming! http://steamcommunity.com/games/252950/announcements/detail/38641143926128777
Obtainable by playing a full game of Rocket League, the official Portal items are potentially rewarded at the end of every match, win or lose. All you have to do is keep playing until the match ends and your chance to earn a new Aperture-themed goodie of your very own. What kind of Aperture-themed goodies, you ask? These ones! Cake (Topper) Conversion Gel (Rocket Trail) Propulsion Gel (Rocket Trail) Repulsion Gel (Rocket Trail) Aperture Laboratories (Antenna) Cake Sticker (Antenna) Companion Cube (Antenna) Personality Core (Antenna) PotatOS (Antenna)
I'd love if they added the car from Distance, because it can damn well jump and fly and would just fit right in :v:
I truly hate it when the time is about 3 minutes in. And you're already 0-4 due to your teammate scoring 2 own goals or missing a simple save etc and they're just generally playing really bad.... AND THEN THEY WON'T FORFEIT.... It's like seriously.... We won't win with this incompetence. And then at the end of the game.... About 30 seconds to the end when its like 1-5 to the other team, your teammate decides to forfeit. FUCK YOU TEAMMATE. FUCK. YOU.
I'm normally willing to forfeit, but if a teammate is talking shit (typical "omg my team sucks" type crap) then I will force them to endure the entire duration of the game.

When people wont skip the replay. Like seriously, nobody wants to see your shitty goal
When people wont skip the replay. Like seriously, nobody wants to see your shitty goal
Nah, sometimes I wanna see how that bullshit I lost it at even happened.
Agree with both above. But there is always that one dick that will complain about people not skipping the scenes and then when it comes to their really un-impressive goal, they don't skip
One of my teammates left and got replaced by AI, the AI proceeded to score a blatant own goal in overtime
I've never forfeited, and I don't plan to. But I will keep playing if the forfeit doesn't get through.
lmao [vid]http://puu.sh/lEu0a.webm[/vid]
I forfeited once so far, but only after we were getting skunked for 2 minutes straight by a clearly superior team and both other guys voted to forfeit without being bitchy in the game. I almost regretted not forfeiting once when the other team wanted to end it as well, until someone on my team called me a coward for not forfeiting, and I was like "lolwhat." I proceeded to play while he tried to ram me for the rest of the round. I hate forfeiting since its like, each game is usually no more than 10 minutes. If you were willing to press play you knew you had time to commit for full game. Take your lumps and see how the other team plays to better yourself. Of course things might pop up, but you can just apologize then. It annoys me the most when we haven't even played a minute of a match and someone decides to vote forfeit. That happenef last night and we proceeded to win.
So i noticed there is community flags. is anyway to get a FP Flag? or are we not well known enough to get one in the game?
Would it be possible for me to play with my buddy who's on a ps4? I haven't kept up with Rocket League news but I remember this game having cross play or something? I just bought it on pc by the way

I hope they come with a solution eventually.

Had a couple great unconventional games with my buddies the other night. First game we were mopping the floor with these guys. Like 8-0 winning. So we decided to be huge asses and start baby talking them and helping them score. We scored them 9 points so they were ahead of use then in 30 seconds we scored twice and won. They left. Was really glad that we got to be as cocky as fucking possible and it not coming the bit me in the ass. Then we got a group who was really good. Destroyed us 9-2 or something. Next game was going similar where they had 4-0 so we started blocking their goal and telling them there's no way they're getting past us. After a while they start playing along and scoring on their own goal so we moved out and starting trying to score on our own to no avail. Then as soon as they had scored 6 goals on themselves we switched back on them and won. Great night
Somebody posted this on Reddit and i thought it was amazing! 1st of December, Merry Christmas guys?
