new cars and decals are fucking incredible
what the everliving fuck is psyonix doing to this game?
how does it make sense to ban players from the whole game for a matchmaking cooldown? having a ranked cooldown makes sense, but literally banning me from the whole game? fucking pathetic. even in CSGO you can still play casual with a competitive ban. that, and PS4-PC interplay just needs to get turned off entirely for the whole game because PS4 players systematically ruin the experience. i have yet to play a game with one PS4 player that has been even semi-competent.
keep making DLC and ignoring core game issues i guess
I'm a PS4 player and I hope I get matched into one of your games.
The core game is fine what
The issue of people leaving is greater than you think

please, i would enjoy that. i'm dying to play a game that hasn't ended 7-1 and i can only do so much when my team is just trying to play the ball 24/7 and hitting each other out of the way

The issue you're talking about has no reality to it.
PS4 players play just as well as PC players. What makes you think they'd be doing worse?
I play on PS4 and Steam, and I don't perform any different on the two platforms, and I've met PLENTY PS4 players that are really god damn good at the game.
But "hur dur pc master race" am i right????

i'm not even close to one of those people, and obviously it doesn't come down to this if they included an option to disable cross-play in the menu

I'm pretty sure that is purely to satisfy people who hate console players, and vice versa.
Anyways, PS4 players have no disadvantage in this game so I don't really see it. What would they be worse at? Only thing I can think of is certain TVs having higher input latency than PC monitors.
I've had my fair share of shitty teammates from both PC and PS4, neither really stands out, and I never got angry at any of them, they're probably trying their best so give them a break.

I was mostly being facetious since I play pretty casually and don't consider myself to be good at all. I do try to plan moves ahead of time and don't just rush the ball 24/7 though.
If anything, PS4 players are usually better than PC players. They ace aerials a lot more, cause controllers are a lot nicer to use to orient your car than keyboard is.
Anyone experiencing weird ball glitches after this latest patch? Was playing games yesterday and it was happening so much. Someone would smack into the ball, but then clip through it and the ball would just fall down.
This should be interesting, gotta run and play this game... can't wait.. :)
I honestly don't understand how anybody could bad mouth this game? It is so simply brilliant!
The only fault i've ever encountered is the Matchmaking in Ranked where i've been teamed up with a Rookie a few times against a Pro and a Vet and we lost quite badly.

Hey smart guy. Go into settings, the misc tab, and disable cross-play. No more PS4 players on your team. That fucking easy.

MMR is different from player rank. The rookie, pro, vet, etc. stuff literally means nothing as far as skill is concerned. It's also saved client-side so someone could switch computers or something and be a rookie, but retain their high MMR. Sure, generally, the rank shows how much someone has played (except when you see super high ranks who are terrible and most likely glitched to get it) and that means they are more likely to be skilled, but it isn't a surefire thing.
I used to get kinda nervous when a "Legend" or "Rocketeer" showed up in my games, but then I learned they're often just as ass at the game as everyone else. You shouldn't be seeing rookies at any decent MMR anyways, I stopped seeing them once I got out of Bronze.

Well im in the high silvers and i got partnered up with a few Rookies that were clearly new to the game (missing really simple shots, terrible ball control, following the ball like a headless chicken etc....) So im not sure how i've been teamed up with them. Maybe they were just happening to have a REALLY bad day.
Sometimes the matchmaking just shits the bed. I've been put in games with Bronze players as a Gold player. It isn't so much that they're rookies, but those dudes were probably low-bronze guys. Matchmaking seems to prioritize setting up games quickly instead of gathering equal skilled players, I guess it makes sense but it has very noticeable flaws. When you're in Gold and you're put in games with people who literally know no other way of attacking the goal other than working the corner, there's a problem.
tbf though queue times have gotten a lot worse lately, I hate sitting for 5 minutes waiting to join a game. I'd rather get in and demolish some scrubs, or have my ass handed to me by much more skilled players.
beats staring at the main screen
I played the game for the very first time last night. It was actually so much fun. People throw 'fun' around casually all the time but i had fun even when we were losing 0-5. I only won 1 game last night even though i scored 1-3 goals every game but i had a blast regardless.

I don't know anything about rocket league but that generally means you're so good that the match maker is having a hard time finding players of your skill level.
The game runs a little worse on PS4, there's also a SLIGHT delay in the controls. I've played on both and I am almost certain it is easier to play better on a good PC
Can anyone with the mad max dlc let me know if the ripper sounds like it did in the trailer.
I played a couple rounds last night but when I went to play for the last couple hours I was a Rookie being faced against Pro/Veteran players. It's not competitive, but there should still be some semblance of balance. I am getting rookies on my team but it's just making us get railed by people who know how to actually play the game well.

Is there actually a difference between the cars? Handling, speed, hitbox, etc?

Yes.

What's the deal with the new map? I was playing the casual playlists for quite a while last night, thinking maybe the new map is mixed into the unranked setlist. If it is, it's really goddamn rare. I'm worried the only way we'll be able to play on it is in private games, which is pretty lame for those of us who don't know enough people to get anything beyond a 1v1 going. I played some exhibition with bots, it definitely plays way different. Harder to aerial since you're launching off of an uneven surface, and the ball naturally makes its way toward goals without needing assistance. Way, way harder to play goalie since balls can fly in from a ton of different paths.

What's a good all around car? Octane?
What's a good all around car?
Octane is a good jack of all trades car. Some might be better in other aspects, but it's well balanced. The Dominus and Takumi (DLC) are popular all-around playstyle cars as well.

Maybe its in the mutator playlist? I played for about an hour in standard last night and didn't get it either.

I think some of the stats have changed since then. I did have a link to a google docs spreadsheet some redditor made that was being kept up to date with similar rankings on it but I can't remember where it is.
Woo made Gold II in doubles. Strange, because I always thought my forte was standard. There's only one person I play doubles with, fun working our way up through the ranks.

When this happens, if you can't ready up and get teams scrambled cause they're in a premade group, just exit and rejoin. Sucks, I know, but not much else to do. If I'm playing unranked and we keep demolishing the enemy, I'll scramble teams to make it fair, or I'll just play solo standard ranked.
I was playing Unranked earlier today, just chilling out and unwinding, not taking it too seriously. I missed a shot that I knew was risky, and they ended up scoring on me. They shouted "What a save!" over mic and I laughed it off. It sorta motivated me to play better, so literally 30 seconds after that goal, I slam-dunked an aerial goal on them and when I mic'd "What a save!" jokingly, they ended up getting super salty.
Told me to fuck off and that I talk too much and I sound like a cunt. Sorta killed the fun cause I didn't realise they'd actually get so butthurt over me returning a joke. Banter!

I made a .upk decryptor and listed out all the car hitbox dimensions
